uncle Tom,Originally posted by Khostai View PostIn the days of burning whitches US and Europe was ruled by religious peopel, there were no democraties or secular goverments. The same for the slavery and the native Amiricans were also killed by religious ones, there excuse was that they are not Christian so its oke to kill them, blacks were slave becuase in the bibel is said that black peopel are cursed by God, thats way black slavery exsisted for so long. Its becuase of democratisation and secularisation blacks were given freedom slavery was abolished.
You are trying to excuse the crimes committed against Native Americans and Blacks.
The nation was secular when it was founded on stolen land

What are you talking about. The term is from a novel "Uncle Toms Cabin" by Stowe. It was never used by white people in a negative sense. It was mostly used by black people in America towards other black people.Originally posted by faye View Postthe use of the term 'uncle tom' in a negative sense, originated from white people. such a shame that malcolm x chose to use this term against his own people.

Tom was the character that was beaten to death by his white master because he refused to give inforamtion about a couple of black female slaves who had escaped. The reason people use the term "uncle tom" is because he did not have the courage as the other black women to want freedom. Instead he stayed on the plantation and supplied the soldiers that kept him enslaved.Last edited by khushal; 01-12-2012, 03:07 PM.

stowe was a christian abolisionist.the novel was inspired by a slave, josiah henson, who escaped to canada. he worked and bought land there and started a settlement for other fugitive slaves. it became a financially viable settlement. he was a preacher and a militery officer.Originally posted by khushal View PostWhat are you talking about. other white people made 'uncle tom' into the negative version with minstrels and writings.
it appears that the black people have then taken on the negative version and now ghundal.
we must always follow the trends and never question or use our minds

if a person has been captured, tortured, enslaved and misreated all his life, what do you expect? some peoples will is broken by these treatments. we don't know these peoples lives and pain.Originally posted by khushal View PostTom was the character that was beaten to death by his white master because he refused to give inforamtion about a couple of black female slaves who had escaped. some people on here make this 'uncle tom' type judgement on poor people in afghanistan, who join the army there, or become interpreters, while they sit in comfort in america ot somewhere else in the west. i find these judgements, when one doesn't know the others life situation, to be unjustified and selfish.
