Toramana. When she chooses to live with (in matrimony or whatever) with an outsider, she must know how this reads amongst ordinary Pashtoons. Truth is, whilst private lives are private, and people are free to marry whom they like, I suppose, Farhat Taj knowingly switches the surname on and off at will. That suggests that she's aiming to control what people think and that makes her knowingly manipulative perhaps. By the way, she's not on her own. Most people want approval, including Imran Khan. That's just the way human nature goes sometimes.
tor_khan, let us not take it to that extreme---Otherwise judging by orthodox standards of traditional rural Pashtunwali, neither you stand Pashtun nor I or any West-raised third generation immigrant having lost kinship connection with the mainland community compelled by our peculiar circumstances as immigrants to heavily intermarry with non-Pashtuns and losing other traits and attributes of the core Pashtun culture-------(and only recently having started associating with Pashtuns or learning Pashto in that also, identity-crisis being the main factor).

Let us be more objective of her character and let us make a fair comparison ---She is not even an immigrant first or nth generation neither she has obtained red, blue, or green card nor has sworn oath of loyalty to Queens of England, George Washington or any other king, night, or emperor of some land of infidelity and its laws---that we detest and consider evil and enemy of "our religion" but still chose to hypocritically live under---

On the contrary, she is deeply rooted in her society and in active contact with her people writing about them and highlighting their plight---And all it seems she would return to watan unlike us who despite our patriotic pretentions for Pashtuns would not like to relocate to Pashtun land and would rather like to explore new lands of opportunities in North America and elsewhere now that the fortune of UK, etc. are down...

Besides, she can stand for her convictions and put her life into danger by explicitly and openly talking about the role Pakistan's military and intelligence agencies in facilitating militants to kill Pashtuns in the dangerous environment in which Pashtuns are today. This is unlike us, whose commitment to Pashtuns in practical terms doesn't go beyond few posts on web forums as unanymous users .

And this image of Pashtun society to be stuck in the past with old rigid traditions is highly exaggerated. I know that many immigrants with affiliation with radical Islamic ideology would try to comfort themselves with such kind of thinking but in reality Pashtun society is much diversified today where all kind of people can be found.

Same old BS simply swept aside with a few factors:

      1) Americans themselves, under the likes of Ron Paul, Michael Scheuer and others are calling an end to a war which involves fighting your and that skank khraa's wars for her. You want to deal with Baitullah mehsud and Omar, go get your gun and do it; quitting wasting everyone elses money, time, blood, and treasure to take on a task you cannot accomplish yourself. She has a problem with Hakimullah? Tell her to go get her rifle and take care of business. Criticism that is logical coming from diaspora, the moon, jews, Christians or whoever against this BS unending conflict, on your behalf, to impose your alien value system on the indigenous people lacks merit ANYWHERE.

      2) You can write 5 paragraphs above and beyond what you wrote... which is utterly unsubstantiated garbage. It does nothing to disprove the fact that if some guy named Tom McMan walked into FATA, Kandahar, Kabul, or Peshawar, or even Panjshir and asked for the hand of a daughter, at best he would be treated like a guest, explained politely that such things do not happen unless the gentleman converts (and rarely even then) and in the worst case scenario you would find his body in a ditch if he came back with the daughter of the Pashtun man involved.

Right now, everyone reading your commentary is grinning and trying not to show their teeth. Even your steadfast supporters are hesistant to interject and provide a single example of the type of Pashtun you present.

In the worst case scenario some poor Afghan has no choice but to sell his daughter out of extreme poverty, and even that is barely heard of.

The West has not even dared to open up adoption possibilities in Afghanistan and you are sitting here talking like a fool about how there is some secret society of Pashtoons that only you, Toramana knows about that loves to prostitute out their women to white guys?

Bottom line: Farhat Taj Andersen's patriotism doesnt mean squat since it is based on a series of unsubstantiated assertions and poor quality shoddy work.

The proof that I am right? The fact that you refuse to post her last name with her articles. Even you are embarrassed as he-ll that she married Mr. Andersen and your mind goes numb when you try to type the A key.

Prove me wrong and start attaching her surname to each of your posts about her. Come on, I dare you.

And pecular circumstances my a-s-s. Where there is a will, there is a way. If I can marry into Pashtuns as a second generation American, you provide no excuse for her claiming that she was isolated and time and distance wore her down. I soon expect her to generate some assinine link between those two poor Wazir boys, the one lamed and the other one dead, to prove how the drones 100% of the time only hit taliban. She should be ashamed of her idiotic contrivances. Each time I read her idiot articles I feel 2 IQ points dumber because they always start out with: "Soooo you want to talk about mosques... well I went to mosques so I can talk about them" or "Soooo you want to talk about the optimal way to dye your hair... well I have haiiir!" Thats why her adding her last name would be lethal. And its a simply quandry she put herself into. Instead of standing tall and proud behind her decisions she shifts like a snake's stool droppings through Central Asian press with Farhat Taj and then signs her Norwegian articles Farhat T Andersen.

Absolutely, her personal life matters 100%. She claims time and time again to know, live, and understand traditional Pashtun culture. She makes up assinine claims about how the Pashtuns call the drones ababeel, which you, in your stupidity and ignorance tout here, without any confirmation or concordance.

Yet, it takes a white lady and a white man to stand up for for dead Tariq here and lamed Saadullah:

          http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/15553761

And this piece of human garbage and waste of genetic material, Miss Andersen then reflexively responds by claiming that these young boys were linked to AQ or Taliban without a single iota of proof.

And then on top of this, she has the gall to surface like a creature out of the swamp, each time the drone program is threatened. And what is her key platform? That she she knows best for Pashtoons and that she is a Pashtoon, therefore, she knows Khan is an outsider by pure fact of her being some sort of insider.

BS. Where she an insider, had she nang, she would stand tall and proud behind the Andersen surname. She knows full well that her audience of Pashtoons would dismiss her summarily and hence her hiding it in the Central Asian press, but signing off to Norwegian papers as Farhat T Andersen.

And I stand behind the Abdali name by adhereing to his causes such as his giving the Khoja Muslims refuge and sending embassies to China and uring a Pan Islamic alliance against it.

So now, are you ready to explain where the Andersen subtribe derives from? Which Pashtun Khel or kabeel has the Andersenzai in it? After all, she claims to know, understand, and live as an insider. Let us find out how well she understands the insiders.
Once again you show you ignorance Abdali which makes me suspicious of your motives. You seem to be very sensitive towards any discussion related to

          1)Hamid Gul
          2)Imran Khan
          3) Sheltering of foreigners.

Let me remind you BarakzaiAbdali, my name is Amir Khan Maseed, my uncle is called Sailab Mahsud, and he works for Associated press, his son Ishtiaq Mahsud, works with his father, and is first point of contact with the Taliban when they make press statements.

Google Ishtiaq Mahsud and you will see his numerous articles.

I provided Farhat Taj, many sources for her articles, not long ago, I sent her videos of Waziristan, and even a aftermath of a drone attack in 2009.

You seem to be very defensive of Jihadis from abroad and justify your support for them based on some "Western perspective" of Ahmad Shah Baba as being a man who harbors some of the worst kind of people and associate it with "Islamism".

Let me remind you AbdaliBarakzai, there have been murders, killings and even kidnappings by foreign militants under the banner of "Militant Islamism", people of Waziristan have been silenced due to these "jihadis" who openly behead many respectable figures including my own uncle, who was shot to death, because he refused to lease his land for a training camp for militants.

Your knowledge of the region seems very close to the usual bang of bollocks we see regularly on PTV or GEO.

Pashtuns are too weak to confront this new problem they are facing, and there are only a few people who even stick up for Pashtuns at the moment, as you know what happened to syed saleem when he provided evidence of Pak officers associated with Al Qaida, ISI killed him.

Just to end this note, Barakzai

My cousin Ishtiaq Mahsud, has interviewed Hakeemullah, Wali Ur Rehman, Mullah Nazeeer and even visited Wana during the Anti Uzbek uprisings by the Wazirs, and he has on my occasions stated " its the work of the ISI and MI agencies", "they are playing Pashtuns for their own interests".

I am not sure who your sources are, that feed you this fantasy view of the current situation, rest assured my sources are not some Mullah Wazir like Noor Mohammad Wazir, who was killed by his creations, which goes to show how deluded some are.

Her sure name has nothing to do with it

When suited, you have disclosed to us all, and especially to me sources of books written by non-muslims to support your claim Ahmad Shah Durrani would have been a member of Al Qaida.

The aggression and oppression is not Nato, its your agencies and their proxies.

          Thanks

Most Pashtuns have Arabic names, does that mean they are Arabs

interesting how the thread evolves. FTAndersen's persona reminds me of a person I met in London. this girl was of Sudhan family of Rawlakot Kashmir, claiming sadozai afghan heritage (though her family lived in Rawalpindi for decades, and decades before in Kashmir - hence her current 'zaat' (not ttabr) sudhan (hints? you know where she is coming from). She married a farangi Anderson too.

my pitch is that there is a sizeable minority of girls growing up in the west dissatisfied by their own culture (men) and resort to westerners. my opinion is that they are stripped of their cultural ownership if not diluted, due to subliminal brainwashing, through some inferiority-complex, caused by lack of self-esteem and knowledge of their own heritage, of course it is systematic in many immigrant plots. and it is not asymetric; a sizeable minority of boys too are lured away.

hence my inclination away from the west. i dont want any of my progeny in reach of my life to have western aspirations, call me dehati/rural or backwards, i'll keep my korr in afghanistan, school, pohantun, or school failures then tajarat, but all back home. as for why deny chances to them of what i have had, well i am a special case, i am the one who got degree in london and hamburg, but still escaped the clutches of the west (i left without any compulsion or restrictions) . . . i nearly sought an european passport till a PFer woke me up.

back to Imran Khan and FT Andersen . . .

i agree with what you say but at the same time, theres a looooot of really really wack men in our communities, and if it took a kafir or non afghan man to step up and give a muslim or afghan woman what she is looking for, then she is obliged to pursue whats in her interests

I am not so happy with that idea Amir, there are wack men yes sure, a little less equally there are good men there too, it is just the prada/rayban gradually tinted sunglasses make it difficult to see the pashtun gems.

it is easy to get absorbed in the western cutlure, when i was younger i would fall lustfully for european women stereotype, regularly, and really started to forget beauty of our own girls, i started to look for faults in our girls, but really dude there are plenty of faults you will find in western men and girls after the lust ride is over, probably the same faults and imperfections we all have.

                          i'll remain rural.

Regarding Imran Khan, I have also not, in any of my responses defended Khan. I do however support him now that I know Farhat Taj ANDERSEN doesnt like him. After all, pretty much all of what she says is crap, so he must be worth something.

However, I have smacked down a skank khraa who we have evidenced uses her anglocized married name here:

                              http://www.thephora.net/forum/archiv...p/t-29442.html

Because in Norway, for her, its fine to be known as Farhat T Andersen when stoking radicalism and trying to stop Norwegian authorities from interacting with the Muslim community with some farcical reasoning about how because she went to a mosque in pakistan, therefore the norwegian officials should go to town halls in Norway to not give militant mullahs power. After all she wants to promote secularism.

Oh and yet we see her silent when the Princes of Norway visit the synogogue, her mouth goes silent.

But in the Central Asian press... poof, magic. The name shifts, her supposed Pashtun street cred rolls out like some greasy Iranian trying to sell us a used car. And the Andersen disappears like Kaizar Sose into the night.

Regarding sheltering of foreigners and usage of Western sources, your accusations are laughable. If this is in reference to your Abdali sources you cannot blame me for your educational inadequecy. Dr. Gommans, a fine REAL Norwegian author by the way, not some FOB who had to shack up with some white guy from Norway and mutate her name to Farhat T Andersen to gain Norwegian street cred, has an impeccable academic background. His sources regarding the Ahmad Shah comments of harboring Khoja Muslims that broiught him into conflict with Qing China are corroborated by both his own Ahmad Shah Nama, Tarikh e Ahmad Shah and multiple extant sources he cited. Just because you have intellectually deficient in being able to deal with the great Pashtunwali habits of our forefather, and the fact that he would have tolerated Omar much more than FT Andersen, is not my problem, its yours to deal with in the literature evidence against your claim.

Interestingly enough, the quoted comment by Mr. Sailab your supposed uncle goes:

"During the first two sessions of open debate there emerged diversified views on causes and impacts of radicalization in Pakistan. Mr. Sailaab Mehsood, chairman Tribal Union of Journalists, said that international world wrongly perceived the Muslims were borne extremists. The main cause of the radicalization is injustice and when justice and basic rights of individuals are not available then radical views find spaces in them."

Sure doesnt sound like hes too worried about Arabs as a cause of these wars.

He also did not appear to be too charistmatically supporting a fight against Mahsud militants here:

                              http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/worl.../20/2003446608

"The Mehsud campaign is likely to be far tougher, and bloodier, than the six-week Swat operation.
“It will be long, and too many people will die on both sides,” said Sailab Mehsud, a veteran local journalist."

In fact, an overwhelming number of both Sailab and Ishtiaq's articles do not take sides and remain neutral and ambivalent, merely describing the events that occurred.

Furthermore, Sailab mahsud is referenced in this statement from the New America Publication:

"The security situation in South Waziristan took a drastic turn when U.S. and NATO forces invaded Afghanistan in October 2001, in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington and the subsequent refusal by the Taliban government to hand over the al-Qaeda leader behind the attacks, Osama bin Laden. Thousands from the Afghan Taliban, the Arab al-Qaeda, and their foreign affiliates--such as groups of Uzbeks, Chechens, and Tajiks--came to South Waziristan looking for refuge and bases to continue their fight against the American and NATO forces occupying Afghanistan.[7] The local tribes, sympathetic to the cause, provided shelter and assistance to the fighters, while local militants who were affiliated with the Afghan Taliban government before September 11--such as Abdullah Mehsud, Baitullah Mehsud, Nek Muhammad, Haji Sharif, and Haji Omar--began to organize local Taliban groups across South Waziristan.[8]"

So I present to you the same challenge I have to Toramana: If her name does not matter, from now on, use it when posting all her articles. Dont you see that even though Tor Khan doesnt agree with me on maybe 50-75% of what I say, yet he got embarrassed for you guys and how you are attempting to deny reality regarding Pashtoon mores? He was doing you a favor by trying to present reality defining balance versus your reality defying unbalance.

After all, its a logical conundrum for you to explain her dropping her married surname:

                              Either
                              1) She is afraid that the reception in the Pashtun lands would be muddied by ad hominem. So then, she needs to account for what the add hominem would be? Would it be that she was a Christian? That she abandoned her culture? etc. If they are not true, they are easily dismissable. After all, she brings it on herself by claiming again and again to represent legitimate Pashtun culture. After all, that is her pitch when confronting renowned anti terrorism experts like Peter Bergen which is like a retarded midget trying to fight with a Einstein on steroids. Its a joke.

                              2) She has an agenda: The evidence appears to lie more behind this per her convenient shifts of her name from Farhat T Andersen to the Norway press versus Farhat Taj in Central Asia.

These are the two logical scenarios. Either one holds a problem for you and her.

So resolve this dilemma by simply affixing her surname to each of her articles.

Absolutely, she has that right. And she is obliged to ensure that she not tout how traditional she is and how in touch she is with the sentiment on the ground when dealing with Peter Bergen. Her trump card is always: Heeey noooow dawwwwg, Im a Pashtanaaaaa, and you? You're a white guy... you cannot possibly be right about complex issues like drones and Civilians.

The white guy answers: Uh we have evidence that young civilians are dying and and that your data is equivocal.

In fact, we have personal involvement of one of our own charity leaders, Clive Stafford Smith who met with the young kid Tariq 2 days before a drone smacked him dead in Waziristan:

                                http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/15553761

ANd his family is obstinate that he had no militancy connections.

Yet Farhat Andersen of the Skank tribe is going to surface in the coming days and say something to the extent of:

"Cliiiiive, Cliiiive, Cliiive yo mah homeboyyy, mah whiiiite brothaa. Its like this... I met a Waziri tribal elder at 12 midnight in Wana at the corner of Mo Ashraf Street and Tank boulevard and duude swore to me that Tariq's militant name was DJ Proof, water boy to H Mehsud himself!! ANd Clive, I would know... Im Pashtuuuun.!"

And so poooof, the name disappears in the central asian press.
