  • Pakistan, China Hold High-level Security Talks

CChinese Public Security Minister Meng Jianzhu, left, shakes hands with Pakistan's Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in Islamabad, Pakistan.

China's top security official is visiting Pakistan for talks focusing on increased cooperation against Chinese militants who have found sanctuary in the northwest of the country, September 27, 2011.

The Pakistani government has pledged to attack Uighur militants opposed to the Chinese government who are hiding in Pakistan's volatile tribal regions. The assurances from the Pakistani leadership to a visiting top Chinese security official come a day after the United States said that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called on China to begin a dialogue with Washington on Pakistan.

Chinese Public Security Minister Meng Jianzhu concluded two day's of meetings with Pakistani civilian and military leaders on Tuesday. Officials say the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation against terrorism and other crimes threatening the security of the two neighbors.

The bilateral talks took place amid allegations that Muslim extremists from China’s western Xinjiang region are using Pakistani soil for training and launching attacks on Chinese interests.

Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik told reporters after meeting with his Chinese counterpart Meng Jianzhu that Pakistan will not allow militants of the outlawed Chinese group, the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, or ETIM, to use Pakistani soil for staging attacks in China.

“Whoever is the enemy of China is the enemy of Pakistan and therefore all those terrorists. irrespective of the fact they are from the ETIM or from the Uzbek movements, we will take them hard. They will have no room in this area and we will strike very hard against them,” Malik said.

The outlawed East Turkestan Islamic Movement says it represents the Muslim Uighur population in Xinjiang, which borders Pakistan. The militant outfit has claimed responsibility for attacks inside China and has issued statements threatening Beijing. ETIM fighters have allegedly received training in Pakistan’s tribal region bordering Afghanistan, where al-Qaida and other international extremist groups have their bases.

Interior Minister Malik says that his country has killed or extradited several Chinese militants in recent years to demonstrate its close anti-terrorism cooperation with China.

Speaking alongside the the Pakistani counterpart, Chinese Public Security Minister Meng reiterated that China will extend Pakistan an additional $1.25 million to help it build the capacity of its police and other security agencies.

The top Chinese security official visited Islamabad at a time when the already fragile ties between Islamabad and Washington have further deteriorated following scathing U.S. allegations that the Pakistani spy agency, the ISI, is supporting deadly attacks by Haqqani network militants on U.S. and NATO forces fighting the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan.

Pakistan rejects the allegations as baseless. The Pakistani senate’s defense committee, which met in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss tensions with the United States, also denounced the American accusations. Speaking to VOA after the meeting, the committee’s chairman, Javed Ashraf Qazi, said the accusations are harmful to both Pakistan and the United States.

“We think that this is not the way to proceed forward [in countering terrorism]. If we have to win the war against terror, then we have to stand together. This blame game will get us nowhere," Qazi stated. "The only beneficiaries will be the terrorists against whom we have sacrificed so much already.”

Pakistani officials say Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will chair a multi-party conference on Thursday to try to come up with a united national stance for the country’s future course of action in the counter-insurgency campaign and cooperation with the United States.

The deliberations are likely to focus on the persistent U.S. demands for a crackdown on the Haqqani network, which is said to have its sanctuaries in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal district. American officials say the insurgent group was behind this month’s attacks on U.S. embassy and a NATO base in Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s increasing contacts with its longstanding ally, China, are seen by some Pakistani officials and independent observers as part of an effort to fill any possible diplomatic and economic gap should Washington decide to reduce its engagement with Islamabad.

Tuesday's high level security talks between Pakistani and Chinese officials also came a day after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in a meeting with her Chinese counterpart in New York, called on China to begin a dialogue with the United States on Pakistan. As senior U.S. State Department officials put it, there is clearly an urgency given recent developments and the already close relationship that exists between Pakistan and China.

    • 1. India blames Pakistan for 42 alleged terror camps.
      2. Afghanistan blames Pakistan for shelling civilians and destroying houses and mosques.
      3. The UK blames Pakistan (indirectly) for an alleged attempted terror plot by British Pakistanis who went to Pakistan.
      4. China is blaming Pakistan for terrorists using Pakistani soil to attack China.
      5. The USA is blaming Pakistan for attacking its Kabul embassy, CIA office and killing American soldiers in 2007.

America, China, India, Afghanistan, Britain.....who will be next?

Alleged UK cell charged with terror training in Pakistan

By Paul Cruickshank, CNN Terrorism Analyst
      September 27, 2011

Six men appeared in a London court Monday charged in connection with an alleged planned terrorist bombing campaign in the United Kingdom. The six were arrested last week in Birmingham as part of what authorities called a "major operation."

All were remanded in custody during a brief hearing.

Two of the alleged cell members... were charged with recording martyrdom tapes and "travelling to Pakistan for training in terrorism including bomb making, weapons and poison making" sometime after Christmas Day 2010.

British authorities believe it was while they were in Pakistan that they recorded the martyrdom tapes, a source made aware of details of the investigation told CNN...

British authorities continue to be concerned about U.K. militants traveling to the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region, where terrorist groups have opportunities to recruit them for operations back home. In July a Home Office report stated that British nationals were among hundreds of Europeans training or operating in Pakistan.

      • So if we go by this:

        1. Pakistan should fight Uighur militants as told by China.

        2. Pakistan should also fight the Haqqani network as told to by the US.

        3. Pakistan should close 42 terror camp as told to by India.

This co-ordinated propaganda assault against Pakistan bodes ominously, the biggest losers will be ordinary poor people in Pashtunkhwa, as the Pakistani generals, politicians etc are behind the scenes in collusion with their US masters, who are controlled by globalists, who want another war, another blood sacrifice.

On 25 September 2011, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham serving on the Senate Armed Services Committee stated on FOX NEWS that the U.S. should consider war against Pakistan, a country known to have supported anti-NATO Afghan rebels. Although the war in Afghanistan is unpopular with the majority of Pakistanis, although it is unpopular with NATO allies, and although the US has decided to pull out in three years or so because it is not making any progress toward the stated goal of ‘democratizing’ (in reality containing) the country, there are politicians who use the emotional issue of ‘terrorism’ to perpetuate the policy of militarism at any cost to society. While nationalism works to mobilize voters around a hyper-sensitive cause such as ‘terrorism’ in the manner that the US has defined it, the flip side is that nationalism of one side is responsible for engendering nationalism on the other side, in this case Pakistan.

In a recent testimony, Adm. Mike Mullen, Joint Chiefs chair, acknowledged that Pakistani intelligence has been implicated in Afghan Haqqani rebel network engaged in anti-US activity, including planning and executing assaults on the U.S. Embassy. Sen. Graham argued that unless Pakistan agrees to submit its defense and intelligence policies and actions to the US, then it is itself ‘terrorist’ and war against the country should be considered.

But why stop with Pakistan? If the US policy of containment of radical Islam is to work, why not go to war with every country that has Muslims and is suspected of having ‘Muslim terrorists’ on its soil? How else would containment work, unless there is a global campaign and wars on multiple fronts? Why not declare war against the entire horn of Africa, why not Yemen, and why stop there and not extend it down to Indonesia as well?

Why not adopt the policy of the Romans in the Third Punic War when they decided that Carthage must not exist, so that Rome can feel hegemonic. Why not raise the defense and intelligence budgets and send the public debt through the roof in order to satisfy the psychotic obsessions of ideologues that will not admit Pax Americana was finished right after the Tet Offensive and never recovered since? Why not indeed reduce the US into an armed camp like ancient Sparta and devote all of society’s energies toward war?

One reason for Sen. Lindsey’s bellicose rhetoric is because this is election season and the Republicans want to energize the base and perhaps take away votes from Southern Democrats. Another reason is that Pakistan has indeed been playing both sides in the last ten years, but so have other countries, including Saudi Arabia. It is true that Pakistanis do not want US military occupation of their country, just as it is true that they would rather have an Islamic regime in Afghanistan rather than a secular pro-West one.

It is true that chair of the Joint chiefs of staff Adm. Mullen gave ammunition to warmongers like Sen. Lindsey by leveling accusations against Pakistani intelligence agency and its support for Haqqani rebels. It is also true that the Pakistani government is anxious for the US to stop threatening it with war, to stop destabilizing the country and the region, and to stop using the Indo-American alliance as leverage against Pakistan, simply because the US fears Iran now has the advantage in determining the regional balance of power.

A further reason is that the Republicans feel emboldened by the NATO campaign in Libya and feel that Syria cannot be far behind. Besides, the argument that Pakistan is helping Afghan rebels because it does not want a pro-US Afghanistan makes sense because it means that Pakistan would have to change and emulate its pro-American neighbor. These are all assumptions on the part of the Republican demagogues whose ignorance on the complex geopolitical issues involving US military intervention is only exceeded by their desperate ambition to win their own elected seat by invoking the ‘terrorism threat’ issue.

What would the US gain and what would it lose by going to war against Pakistan?
          1. An even larger percentage of Pakistanis would make sure to sabotage all US efforts to have their country remain a militarily occupied semi-colony.
          2. A protracted war against Pakistan would involve China and Russia in some form, because they have a stake in the Asian balance of power.
          3. A protracted war against Pakistan would benefit both China and Russia because it would weaken the US economically in the short-term and militarily in the longer term.
          4. If the US cannot protect the CIA compound from a bomb attack on the same day that Sen. Lindsey announced US war as an option against Pakistan, how can the US ensure any type of security or any kind of success against terrorism in the region?
          5. A war of short duration would damage US prospects for any kind of influence in most of the Islamic countries and it would entail a sharp rise in Muslim ‘unconventional war’, or terrorism against any US or pro-US target around the world. In short, the idea of taking any kind of military action against Pakistan, even if that means stationing troops as a sign of unofficial occupation would entail greater instability for the West and greater cost for overall security. Such a scenario would definitely strengthen Iran and China and perhaps Russia, unless there is an agreement with Moscow before any unilateral US action.

Pakistan has now been under semi-occupation for ten years. It had no choice other than to permit the US to come in and launch a war against Afghanistan, otherwise the US air force and navy would have bombed the country into oblivion. In September 2011, there are US politicians and Pentagon officials who feel that the choice are reducing Pakistan into a permanent US military base or bombing it into oblivion. Imperialism has a logic of its own, but even that logic must have some pragmatic basis in order to prevent the hastened or eventual demise of the imperialists.

You confuse me at times, exactly on whose side are you on. Why are you so concerned about any co-ordinated propaganda assault against Pakistan.

It makes no difference, Pashtuns will suffer in the end, but there will be a light at the end of the road if America attacks Pakistan.

Pakistan's terrorist centres would be hit, America will use precision targetting just like they do with the drones that has destroyed most of the Alqueda leadership in Waziristan.

I dont see any problem with that. To be honest, neither do I fall for this emotional nonsense about Pashtuns being innocent as well, its a well known fact, that the Jihadi nexus, is well tolerated and established in the Pashtun region, a people who are famed for defeating empires, are unable to boot out a couple of Arabs on camels or dismantle Punjabi Taliban in Miram Shah? Impossible, Pashtuns are countable and those responsible for allowing such terrorist activities to flourish should be dealt with.

When America attacked the Taliban, the Afghan militants with their foreigners fled into Pakistan, when they reached Pakhtunkhwa, the locals made money by selling them the wealthy Arabs products twice the price, hotels, guest houses were rented to them, they were treated as guests.

The minute they established their ground in Waziristan, over 200 tribal elders were beheaded in public, people were killed, musicians expelled and women who would walk around without headscarfs and burqas in their villages or to get water from the river/wells, were prohibited from going outside of their homes, I can recall one Wazir saying it was as if were moaning a death everyday.

We should never blame others, it is our own responsibility to deal with our own regional problems, as hilary once said, Pakistan does not want to see Pashtuns on both sides of the border speak or become one, its a true and well known fact, however, our own people and society is plagued with backwardness, lawlessness and tribalism.

                • 1. The situation has calmed down with the US distancing itself from Mullen's comments.

                  2. Unless something changes, there is very likely to be a Waziristan offensive in the next few years which will bring about an American defeat at the hands of tribal Pakhtoons.

I believe Imran Khan is one of the few people that can save Pakistan and respects the rights of FATA Pakhtoons.

                      • Afghanistan Haqqani militant Haji Mali Khan captured

                        South Asia

1 October 2011 Last updated at 07:01 ET

Afghanistan Haqqani militant Haji Mali Khan captured

A senior leaders of the militant Haqqani network, Haji Mali Khan, has been captured in Afghanistan, the Nato-led international force Isaf has said.

He was detained during an operation by Afghan and coalition forces in Paktiya province on Tuesday, Isaf said.

He was heavily armed but did not resist, it added.

Haji Mali Khan is a senior leader in the Haqqani network, which is blamed for several recent Afghan attacks and accused of having links to Pakistan.

He is also the uncle of the network's leader, Siraj Haqqani, and served as an emissary between the Haqqanis and Baitullah Mehsud, the former head of the Pakistani Taliban who was killed in a suspected US missile attack in 2009.

The capture came days after the assassination of former Afghan President and negotiator Burhanuddin Rabbani, which was blamed on the network.

The killing prompted Afghan President Hamid Karzai to say on Friday that he was focusing on talks with Pakistan rather than the Taliban.

Last week, the US military accused Pakistan's spy agency of helping the Haqqani militant network in a recent attack on Kabul.

                          • Taliban unsure about supporting Pakistan if US attacks: TTP | Latest-News | DAWN.COM

ISLAMABAD: The banned organisation Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) said on Sunday that it will never support Pakistan blindly in case of an attack from the US, DawnNews reported.

This was stated by TTP’s leader and Taliban Commander of Bajaur area Moulvi Faqir Ahmed while taking to the BBC.

He said that although the US and Pakistan are allies in the war against terrorism, both the countries are deceiving each other in the ongoing war in Afghanistan.

Moulvi Faqir further stated that the US wants an exit passage for its army from Afghanistan while Pakistan is trying to entrap US further in the war.

He said that the US is already attacking Pakistan, however, incase of some bigger action taken against Pakistan by the US, the TTP will not impulsively provide support to Pakistan. The Taliban shura will deliberate on this and then make the final decision regarding support to Pakistan, he added

                            http://www.dawn.com/2011/10/02/talib...tacks-ttp.html

The "TTP" have been attacking the Pakistan army, earlier this year their most notorious faction, the Punjabi Taliban attacked a Pakistan navy base in Karachi.

The Punjabi Taliban are the most ruthless and vicious group in the entire TTP coalition and are strong in Punjab with their radical supporters, some of whom are good friends with Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif, the leader of Pakistan's Punjabis, the governor of Punjab province and his brother, former (and possibly future) prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

                            • Suspicious activities: US embassy warehouse in I-9 sealed

By Azam Khan / Umer Nangiana
                              Published: October 1, 2011

" The embassy had its own ‘security arrangements’ for the warehouse as diplomats and US Embassy employees were working in it," US Embassy Spokesperson Mark Stroh.

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) on Friday sealed a factory under the use of US embassy in Sector 1-9/3. Some officials said the action by CDA’s building control section came after reports that suspicious activities were underway at the factory.

They said the US officials were turning the building into military bunkers and were also storing items like weapons and surveillance devices there.
Construction at the warehouse was also stopped, after it was declared illegal.
The workers of the US embassy employed at the warehouse were barred from entering the building and the factory building was sealed for further examination of the nature of construction there.
Meanwhile, the US embassy Spokesperson Mark Stroh denied these claims.
“It was a factory which is being renovated to turn it into a warehouse so that we can store extra supplies of furniture and other items of official use of the embassy,” Stroh told The Express Tribune. He added there were no bunkers being built nor any ‘suspicious’ material was being stored in the warehouse.
Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu, the Director General Planning, CDA, when contatced, said the embassy had been served notices earlier. “We had informed them about the violation of the building rules but the embassy did not responded,” he said.
The US Embassy spokesperson, when asked about the notices, said the embassy was in contact with the CDA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to sort out the issue. He maintained that no illegal construction was underway at the warehouse.
“It was only renovation work,” Stroh said. He said the embassy had its own “security arrangements” for the warehouse as diplomats and US embassy employees were working on it.
“No suspicious item was spotted in the warehouse. However, there were covers over certain parts of the building which gave the impressions of bunkers,” he added.
On the future line of action, Sindhu said the CDA will now evaluate the exact nature of the violations and in the second phase the illegal structures will be demolished. He said there were reports that US embassy was carrying out concrete construction in the building which was not allowed under the building code.
A police official said that neither the CDA nor the embassy had approached them with any complaints. “Police were merely informed by the officials of the civic body that the factory was sealed and the US embassy employees would not be allowed to enter it,” he said.
Last year, certain media reports claimed that Kestral Logistics, a company running the controversial warehouse, was a subcontractor of US security company Xe Worldwide (formerly Blackwater) and was involved in arms trading.

weapons were secretly.amassed at scattered locations...rebels to be were secretly recruited and asked to hang around the weapon dumps and wait for signal...
then all of a sudden signal was given and all the rebels had yo do was get hold of weapons and start firing...

ISLAMABAD: The US Embassy Saturday lodged a strong protest with the Foreign Office over the seizure of its warehouse in the industrial area of the city. The move came after the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and a police team sealed the building in sector I-9/3 on Friday for “violations of building laws”.

US Embassy said they will store furniture and other items from their embassy. BS!

Seriously, Pakistan need to dig out more safe-haven bunkers around Pakistan and report it immediately, how many?
