Ever since 1947, it has been the Punjabi and Mohajir establishment's policy to suppress nationalist sentiments in Pashtun and Baloch areas specifically and, to a lesser extent, in Sindh. It tried replacing the people's historical national identities with a manufactured framework of pseudo pan-Islamist cum-modernist ideals. Needless to say, this policy backfired with the creation of Bangladesh in 1971. Ethnic identities always trump religious associations. Just look at Europe. It's just how things are naturally.

This Seraikistan business is one of the biggest Pakistan People's Party's scams ever. Seraikis live as minorities in D.I. Khan and some districts in Balochistan as well as northern Sindh. Secondly, creating this Seraiki province will cut the mother-province into half and leave it with as area smaller than the size of Sindh. Seraikistan will need 2/3rds of the votes in both the houses of parliament in Pakistan if it wants to come into being and I doubt Balochistan, Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will ever support it. The Punjabi establishment will never allow this either.

However, the MQM and the PPP are already cashing-in on this promise of Seraikistan. They want more votes than Nawaz Sharif in southern Punjab and this is the only way they can out-maneuver him in his home province.

Moreover, creating a Seraiki province will give momentum to demands from the Hindowans and the Mohajirs for their own province. Northern Balochistan has historically wanted to merge with northern Pushtunkhwa. And no one in Pakistan can provide the dynamic leadership that is required to undergo such drastic and bold steps. Lastly, weak states always play it safe. The renaming of NWFP to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa unleashed otherwise-suppressed nationalistic sentiments as far away as Bahawalpur. This Seraikistan move will make matters worse for Punjab.

So Tank and D.I. Khan are going nowhere.

1. There is serious talk about a South Punjab province being created, all parties including the ANP support it. Even the PML-N agree with it in principle.

2. The ANP and PMAP have both called for northern Balochistan to become south Pakhtunkhwa.

3. Karachi will not became a separate province as this as casus belli for war from Sindh including the PPP, STPP and others.

30+ million Sindhis will not accept the amputation of Karachi from Sindh.

There has already been huge violence and loss of life over this issue, and the MQM are fundamentally becoming weaker and weaker with the clock ticking against them.

4. The federation needs reform and re-dermacation of provincial borders and seems to be going that direction.

You are not aware that this same racist toramana has commented about pashtuns of southren districts that they are not genuine pashtuns and are mixed with punjabis. How old are you farid and why you are taking this discussion so offending. I have not blamed any one as non-pashtun, i suspected you as enzargul because here he is notorious for creating multiple accounts even as wazir, bannuchi and marwat. And i am not calling gandapurs as non-pashtuns, they are bilinguals which is a fact known to every one so dont feel offended.
