PressTV - US soldier killed in west Afghanistan

An American soldier has been killed in western Afghanistan as foreign forces face a climbing number of deadly attacks in the war-ravaged country.

"One United States Forces-Afghanistan service member was killed on June 7 in western Afghanistan during an operation," a press release issued by the US military on Thursday said, quoted by Xinhua news agency.

The US military has lost at least 1, 614 soldiers in Afghanistan since the US-led invasion of Afghanistan began in October 2001.

At least 236 foreign troops have so far been killed in Afghanistan this year.

Last year, nonetheless, remains the deadliest year so far for foreign military casualties with a death toll of 711. The number eclipsed the previous record of 521, set in 2009.

Hundreds of civilians have also been killed in US-led airstrikes and ground operations in various parts of Afghanistan over the past few months, with Afghans becoming increasingly outraged over the seemingly endless number of deadly assaults.

The growing death toll of Afghan civilians as a result of NATO and US military operations in the country has fueled tensions between Afghan President Hamid Karzai and his Western allies.

Yea I won't speculate on this death but I can tell you it was from a coward and the coward will wish he hadn't been born.

The special forces of afghanistan are given even more leway to do as they wish then us in the USA. Afghan special forces are able to wear and act as any other security force in Afghanistan...pretty awesome.

But now that the ANA has a lot of the technology we have at their disposal...yea...it's safe to say the ANA will remove any taliban or other terrorist organization.

Also, since our vehicles are barely damaged by the blasts anymore and we are giving that same technology to the ANA, I believe the ANA will be able to conquer the terrorists a lot faster then we were able to...simply because they won't ask questions.

No Adam, I doubt that intel such as that will be released until we leave.

As much as I want to tell you...I'm sure you seen that in every blast there is MAYBE 1 death...MAYBE. When the war first started, everyone in vehicle would be killed.

Lets also speculate on the idea that the satellites in place over afghanistan can register every blast/explosion and radio control signal...what then? I believe computers provide so much intel, probably enough, that if we had robots they could work by themselves and remove terrorists LOL.

There are always exceptions to the rule kid.

                300 Taliban killed by S.A.S.!!!!

Won't tell you how fast that operation was done, but it was certainly a surgical mission.

Maybe. But the numbers have certainly gone down drastically. On the other hand, I've seen ANA fly by [drive wery wery fast] our base and cheering and had like 3 or 4 presumed taliban with blindfolds in the back of their vehicle.

I'm talking about per vehicle casualty, not over all. The taliban spring offensive was expected and we have many, many kills. What's funny was, we continued operations through the winter while the taliban sit, drank tea and died.

But, you rarely hear our kill counts because that's just bad press in of itself.

KABUL - The US military in Afghanistan stopped releasing body counts of insurgents believed killed in operations because the tolls distract from the US objective of protecting Afghans, a spokesman said yesterday.

And that's just another blank check away. :D

Or, a visa card swipe. bahaha.

Me: "I would like 5 dead taliban please."
Attendant: "that'll be $250 million please."
Me: "Ok, charge the visa. It's a black card with no limit."
Attendant: "5 dead taliban coming right up. Come back in a hour."

                        bahahaha.

You don't understand!!! This is a "Global War On Terror" which every country in the world (non 3rd-world) is partaking in. This war will go on through the end of time and special forces will remain in pakistan and afghanistan until the end of time.

Not until the last terrorist is killed will the war stop, so the war will go on until the end of time--and we don't mind that...but our "known presence" will be moved from Afghanistan and Pakistan soon probably.

The only part I don't really understand is that the other countries also aren't reporting their kill counts. If we are to be the police for NATO you'd think others wouldn't mind posting their kill counts when we'd take the brunt of the "blame game" for being the police.

I fix radios and computers [you will never know how much computers is used to do everything from decide something to actually doing it], doesn't mean I don't go on missions and everything. I have to make sure all the equipment used to kill the enemy works properly and everything. Don't forget everything we use pretty much is different parts of technology.

We use guns like everyone does, but there's a lot more tech to it then that.
