he was behind the massacres of gujarat, i can't beleive is allowed to roam free and even respected by many people, even actors like Amitabh. I heard Amitabh is a secret muslim hater, he didn't even invite any muslim to his son's wedding. Muslims played such a huge part in his career, but a backstaber is a backstaber.

Gujarat incident has black mark in indian history, but it has been more then 11 years now and most of them have moved on with their lives, it's not as bad as people in pakistan think about indian muslims, there are many places in india where muslims have been living for hundreds of years peacefully ,my place is best example.people come our places during diwali to burst crackers, same goes for many of hindus who would visit on ramzan for tasting delicious briyani, come down to deccan hyderabad, malabar region in kerala, madras, mysore region or even lakshadweep/andaman nicobar islands were you would never hear single religious clashes and don't based ur opinion on incidents happend 10 years in gujarat or mumbai, this same people were used for political gains, come 2011 no one cares about this religious issues, they are more worried feeding their own stomache, religion pride is secondary

Coming to amitab don't bring some pakistani conspiracy news,he invited only personal friends , it had nothing to do with religion, many hindus were also not invited, all the 3 khans have personal war with amitab, what would amitab gain by hating muslims, bollywood society are most westernised and atheist in india. They don't care for religion, just some acting in front of cam, also coming to modi many in india want him has next pm, do you know today gujarat is the most developed and has the highest gdp in india for a small state. Just google finance-tech city in gujarat mumbai, delhi have no chance, iam not agreeing what modi did for his political ambitions, but we have to move on

Check this new city built in gujarat

Also offtopic what is with conspiracy theories and pakistani channels, other day iam hearing raw/cia/massod behind naval base attack in every pakistani channels,i can understand india, what does israel have to do with pakistan

^ its not from pakistani news, it was some indian muslim paper or person who said that about amitabh

also Modi and others who killed should be punished, dont you agree with that? why are they roaming free and infact respected by many hindu nationalists?

India might be a growing country (economically) I am not denying that. but the minorities over there are treated really horrible, infact i would say muslims have it easier then Dalits, if not muslims, atleast talk about Dalits(low castes) how they are treated. The horrible racist caste system is still very much alive outside main cities.

            ^^

Have you ever been to india??

It's nothing to do with caste system rather poverty, do you know I can show you fair looking people in lower caste and darker in higher brahmin/rajputs.do you know all the ministers and high bussiness people come from lower caste except for few gujaratis/marwaris/parsi/few settled sindhis, there are equally rich and poor In all caste, problem like racism exist with older generation which is even there in pakistan, today younger generation doesn't care about colour, there are so many light-dark skin couples, indian ladies are more interested in personal security then groom's colour like how much does he earn.trust me in my state all rich people , ministers come from lower caste.i think india should remove all the benifits for all lower caste gets like resrvations for medical, engineering seats rather give it based on poverty, income e.t.c
Also there many people change their caste illegally to dalits/bc/sc/st to enjoy government benificts and reservation

sounds like a bit of exaggeration here, 'all the ministers and high business people come from lower caste except.......... bihar and uttar pradesh has mainly low caste in government and there are places held for them elsewhere in govt and colleges/ unis. it is an age old system of predjudice and oppression and will not disappear overnight.
the government has put in the laws but it is still in peoples heads and some peoples behaviours.
dalits also change their religion from hinduism because of their bad treatment in hindu society.

                ^^

Backward caste means not just dalits there are other castes, in south you won't have dalits, some other bc castes, same goes defferent states in india, it's hard for you to understand,it's not the religion but social status and money other reason for opression in present day india, most of the racism comes from older generation, trust me young generation doesn't give **** about caste , people are changing with time.majority of this dalits come from bihar and up which is most backward state in india.there are injustice in some parts of india from generations, if all these people converted why does india still have 80 percent hindu majority even after so many other religions like buddhism, jainism, islam were introduced, all this untouchble crap was introduced by fellow humans, people still have faith in god, please don't mix religion.

Karachi, you seem to be fed too much on Pak media. Reality is much different. But I agree with you on Modi. He is guilty of criminal complicity in the Gujarat riots and deserves to be behind bars. He can develop his state as much as he wants but he cant erase the black spot on himself and India's secular credentials.

Well Faye, the caste system is way to classify and organize society. Similar systems existed in other societies as well. Just that the caste system had some really despicable classifications like the Dalits who did the most menial of tasks.Another horrible aspect was that the rigidity of the caste system didn't allow a person or community to move between castes. So one was restricted to an occupation according to one's birth.

Is it fine to blame Hinduism for the caste system? I dont know. Did the Vedas and the Puranas, the earliest known texts of the central asian immigrants (colloquially and erroneously known as Aryans) lay the rules and guidelines or promoted the caste system? Definitely not. In fact the Vedas are nothing more than a collection of hymns, rituals and accounts of daily life during those times. The one seminal work in Hinduism that can be equated to the Bible or the Quran is the Bhagavad Gita. But that too tackles nothing more than philosophical debates and very well at that.

In terms of contemporary India, yes the caste system is followed but its nothing more than whats followed in other south asian countries. Its just a society's division similar to Pashtun tribal society or sub-groups amongst Punjabi Muslims in Pakistan. Only when it comes to marriage is a caste system deeply followed. Otherwise in offices, institutions, neighborhoods there is no evidence of it.

right, so the caste system and hinduism, the belief in karma is, as they say, just an illusion. everything in india is just all, hokey dokey. this system of caste is about 3,000 years old and included in the rigvedas. so don't try and bulls*** me please. i saw it in action myself.

Faye, you got the wrong idea from my post. I am not being apologetic about the caste system and remember, I am not a Hindu.

You might have seen it in action, but that doesnt mean it was in the Vedas! For how long it has been practiced, yes probably since 3000 years. So why are you surprised that we arent able to get rid of it in 60 years? The govt has banned it and gone for affirmative action. But it does take time to mold people's minds.

And there are pockets where the caste system is practiced in its strictest form but hopefully that too will change. Poverty and lack of opportunities is a greater divisive force in India than the caste system. In fact a lower caste poor has a better chance of success as compared to a high caste (there are plenty of those!) since he gets freebies and other benefits from the govt.

google rigvedas and caste system. simple.
where did i say i was suprised? i expect it will be a long slow process. what annoys me is the denials that it is a part of the religion and that india is only progressing. poverty has increased according to reports i have read, since 2004. in china it is said to have decreased in the same period.
