  • Khushal,

In Afghanistan we are not imposing nothing on no one. Afghanistan is a free country.

Well that is the case, but ultimately we are political being, and mine and Tajik person's thinking is almost the same as it is that thinking that governs our lives and wellbeing. It becomes veery innate. I am not denying that Pashtuns have ethnic and liguistic bonds, that being there, we also have a national culture in Afghanistan and a Pakistani Pashtun can hardly relate to that as it would be the case with a Pashtun from Ghazni for whom a Pashtun like Shahbaz Khan would be a stranger and his "teek da jeee teek da" are alien words. Shahbaz can relate more to a Panjabi than you notwithstanding what your blood group is. He could hardly give a sh!t! That is why if it is in Shahbaz's interest to destroy Afghanistan to serve the interest of Pakistan, he would not hesitate it. From Ayub Khan Pashtun to the very forward operating agents of ISI have proven their supreme allegiance and loyalty to the state of Pakistan.

I have nothing in common with Luffy, Shahbaz etc. although I respect them. I do have in common with BLS, Khyal, tor-khan etc. but not mainstream Pakistanis.

That is exactly the problem. I have said this before in my other posts, that this is a flaw thing to do, but some people will rather choose their skew obstinate logic. And frankly it is becoming cheap and boring.

          • Asalamu Alaikum brothers and sisters,

Pathan is what Indians calls Pashtuns. If an Indian meets me, he calls me a Pathan. I usually politely correct them, but Afghanistan has had enemies of all ethnic groups. Dr.Abdullah claims he is Pashtun. In fact, usually when he visits Kandahar he takes great pride in his Kandahari roots. An indian might call him a Pathan, and some think he is an enemy of Afghanistan. So there you go, I've named one supposed enemy.
I know that Indians used the word Patan for Pashtuns. That´s well recorded but how can Mr Abdullah Abdullah be your enemy? My question with Pathan was how many Pashtuns from Pakistan acted against Afghanistan and it´s people. My intention was never to insult or defame anyone. Neither directly nor undirectly. Sometimes I feel that our Pashtun brothers think Pashtuns are the people of heaven who do not have any sins and failures. If you talk about some negative aspects of our society they believe I want to insult them by naming negative things. We need to talk and discuss about every negative aspect of Afghanistan to change for a better future not only for ourself but also for our parents, children and other people who might want to settle in Afghanistan. If I say that Taliban are by majority Pashtuns than what is wrong with that assumptation? Why I become an enemy of Pashtuns while I repeated myself 100 times that I am half-half and I do not care about ethnicity and religious belief of someone.

The term Afghan which is an alternative for the Pashtuns is still our historic identity. In fact, it's quite obvious that Pashtun and Afghan are synonymous. I have tons of sources to prove it's historic correlation, but aside from that have you heard of Pashto? If yes, Pashto, the national language of Afghanistan, is also referred to as Afghani. Many dictionaries when they are Pashto - x language are mostly named as Afghani - x language. A quick Google search on Afghani solidifies my claim.
That was what I wrote. Original meaning of Afghan is Pashtun and vice versa but the meaning has changed. Pakistani Pashtuns have no right to call themself as Afghans. They are Pathans, Pashtuns or Rohilla but no Afghans. Afghans are those who live within Afghanistan (Land of Afghans) AND Afghans are today Pashtuns, Tajiks, Hazaras and and and. That is backed by the national law of Afghanistan. Pakistani Pashtuns do not have any citizenship of Afghanistan so how they can be Afghans? The historical relationship between Afghan and Pashtun is lost. During the 60s Afghan was used for Pashtuns, Tajiks for Tajiks, Hazara for Hazaras and so on and Afghani was used for Pashtu but after the mid of 60s they replaced Afghani with Pashtu. Why did they so? As I named some examples and the fact that non-Pashtuns are today known as Afghans, too, it should be enough for a discussion. If there are parts you don´t like it you are my brothers and sisters. You can write free to me and tell me your worries, your problems and let´s discuss the part again. Let´s clear it from any mistakes but without any emotions. Emotions misguide us somewhere else.

Nearly every aspect of Afghan history revolves around Pashtuns.
Can you bring some evidance for that claim? What have Shir Shah Suri and Abdul Ghaffar Khan to do with Afghanistan or the region that is today called as Afghanistan? He was born in the Indus-valley. He was a great Pashtun and Afghan leader of his time but today we wouldn´t call him as Afghan but as Pashtun. Tajiks, Hazaras, Nuristanis lived in that regions, too. Specially Tajiks and Iranians had the most influentable history in the region and noone can compare it´s history with them. From great Tahirid to Ghurid, Gardez Shahi, Miranshahis and Arghand-Shahis, they were all Tajiks but you do not mention those parts of history.

Every Afghan child in Kabul, Tajik or Mazar knows Pashto or a few words in Pashto, if not an entire paragraph in Pashto. Why? Because the national anthem is in Pashto. In schools, they sing the national anthem in Pashto. In boxing matches, every time in Afghan fights, the anthem is in Pashto. Ever heard of Loya Jirga? Masharano Jirga? Da Afghanistan Bank? Da Afghanistan barq? Military rankings? My God, I can go on with the influence of Pashto in your day to day affairs.
Well, that´s true. The national anthem is in Pashtu, and many names of state´s constitution and the children speak some words Pashtu but will that change anything? Btw, the military ranks are not in Pashtu. Half of them are in english or french and half is in Dari or Arabic. Askar, Sarbaz, Turan ....

yet all you are doing is utilizing the rhetoric coined by the enemies of Afghanistan to further divide the nation
Dear brother, who are those enemies who want a further devide of the nation? Isn´t it Karzai and the more and more Pashtuncentric government who invites the Taliban to the parliamentary and call them ''sons of Afghanistan'' or ''brothers''? Didn´t the Taliban self devided the country between Pashtun and non-Pashtun? Just, Daudzai claimed Pakistan and ISI are not backing Taliban and are close friends of Afghanistan. Haven´t you read or heard that? You may mean Abdullah or Saleh or Atmar but those guys are very nice guys. You just need to meet them and talk with them. I met Saleh. All of them have only one aim. Cutting off Taliban and Pakistani´s hands in Afghanistan. Those who trust in Taliban, in ISI, in Pakistan devide Afghanistan. For the god sakes, we are all Muslims and human-beeings. Can´t we just live peacefully side by side without any problems with eachother?

but we are tired of non-Pashtuns dictating our future, and telling us that the nation that we founded has nothing to do with the south.
Noone have the right to dictate on you and noone did it. Pashtuns dominate the government. Beside that, you dictated on non-Pashtuns 120 years and even oppressed them political and cultural but they did say nothing. Of course, after 09/11 Northerners have dominated the government (one reason may that as whole they are majority in Afghanistan) but they were all replaced by Karzai and since 2008 many of them have turned from Karzai and the government off.

My friend, are you telling me provinces like Kandahar, Helmand don't hold weight? You can run, but you can't hide. There are Pashtuns in Panjshir who have embraced Dari, but there are thousands of Tajiks in Kandahar who speak, read and write in Pashto. They can't even speak Dari. Go ahead, deny that claim as well.
How and why should I deny that undeniable fact? I can´t. But I don´t understand in which context this statement stand. I did not say anything about non-Pashtuns in south that could not speak Pashtu. They have to speak and integrate themself into the southern society. If they wnat to survive they have to be one of the southern people. And that´s happen everywhere. A minority enter a majority and have to accept integration. Btw, from where are you? Where do you live currently? You speak German?

In fact, the currency bills that all Tajiks used are in Pashto! Want proof? wait a few hours, and I will post currency bills of Afghanistan that might make your jaws drop. :-) Oh, and it sort of shows that Pashto is fundamental in life of Tajiks, if not, they can't read Afghan currency bills. And if they can't read Pashto, a Tajik will be a horrible businessman for obvious reasons[not knowing which currency is which can be pretty distasteful]. As you can now evidently see, knowing Pashto or English in Afghanistan is extremely important. The bills have Pashto written all over them, and there are some important messages. Not knowing what they say can be pretty terrifying. Let me guess, "Pinzos Afghani, "Da Afghanistan bank" is Dari as well? :-). What's interesting is the ball is in your court. No one here spoke against Dari, or denied the influence of Urdu, Dari, English and French. Even the French have influenced Dari and Pashto.
Change the question and ask yourself why it is only in Pashtu when Pashtu and Dari are equally national and official languages of Afghanistan.

The list can go on, but the country you live, the identity[Afghan] that you take pride in, was all developed by a young Pashtun of Kandahar. Guess who! Please don't tell me that Tajiks were referred to as Afghans, that would be hilarious.
Brother, you turn my words or did not understand. Modern Afghans are not the same as Afghans before 1965. Modern Afghans conclude Pashtuns, Tajiks, Haz......a definition that changed himself from only Pashtuns to all national of AFghanistan. THAT´S WHY A HAZARA HAVE AN AFGHAN CITIZENSHIP TOUGH DON´T BEEING AN ''AFGHAN'' BUT CAN CLAIM THAT HE AND HIS ANCESTORS LIVED IN THE REGION BEFORE THE EXISTENCE OF AFGHANISTAN OR AHMAD SHAH ABDALI. What make you proud beeing Pashtun or as you state an Afghan? Can we be proud of war, destruction, our illiteracy, stories about killing, raping, brother fights?

Nonsense. Alexander the Great witnessed hell when he entered Arachosia[now known as Kandahar]In fact, check out what he had to say about Pashtuns,

" I am involved in the land of a lion like and brave people, where every foot of the ground is like a wall of steel, confronting my soldiers. You have brought only one Alexander into this world, but Everyone in this land can be called an Alexander. "

So again, he certainly must have fought in the North as well, but don't try to hide our history. It's intellectually dishonest of you.
Non-sense. Please provide an accurate reference to that quotation that is nowhere mentioned in any non-Afghan sources. Can you please provide one source for that claim? Then, Pashtuns did not exist. The nation of Pashtuns formed itself during the islamic conquest and modern Pashtuns are not the same as their ancestors possibly were because modern Pashtuns have adoptet/assimilated more foreign elements from other origins, too. You just repeat the same fake quotations you once found on any Pashtun websites or any book that was written by self claimed Pashtun historians. Even they could not use any reference for their claims and sayings, except writing something to make people feel proud. It´s like creating a positive lie about Muhammad pbuh.

Yup, and it was our Tajik brothers who drove the British out 3 times. It was our Tajik brothers who drove the soviets out. And it's our Tajik brothers who lit fire in Isfahan. Notice the trend brother, you claim you are all for Afghan unity but your ethnocentric posts beg to differ.
Of course- Mainly Tajiks (Nuristanis, Uzbeks, Hazaras, Turkmen) ''drove'' Tajiks out since majority of the Mujaheddins from south and eastern were either attacking constantly innocent people in Kabul, raping and killing their families, destroying any villages or cities of any opposition they did not take part in the direct fighst against Soviets. They could not even really entre the main battlefield which was northern and central Afghanistan. Go and read Ghobar´s book about the Anglo-Afghan wars. You will see many Tajik ''generals'' or commanders fighting the british as well. Ayyub Khan who fled from Russian prison in Uzbekistan fled to Herat where he formed with the help of Heratis to fight the Anglos in Pakistan. They were succesful but had to move back to Afghanistan since the ANglos came back with better equippments. There were many Tajiks but unfortunately, you people think the war was only between Pashtuns and British just because of the name Anglo-Afghan wars. Just inform yourself national, not ethno-centrical. Pashtuns had some good events in the past, so Tajiks, Hazaras and many more. Sometimes even together.

            • The Whole World knows us. Ask the Americans if they fear you Tajiks or do they fear the Afghans, Ask the Soviets if they fear you Tajiks or do the fear the Afghans, ask the British, The Moghuls. No one knows you and if they do, they know you as a submissive people who will do the bidding of others. Why is it that the Tajiks from the north and the Indic people from the South always try to cling to "Afghan." 100 million Indians claim to have Afghan ancestory. This alone speaks volume into what we have accomplished.
Americans fear in general all Afghanistan. They fear Pashtuns and Tajiks as well. Why? Because both groups are Muslims and could unite themself under the islamic banner. Just the difference between the Pashtuns and Tajiks is that Pashtuns are war-like people while Tajiks represents the urban and educated population. Of course, Tajiks in the north could go for NATO and snipe one after one but why should they do so? Taliban are not Tajiks friends. Pakistani has it´s influence in Afghanistan, same as Arabs. Just imagine what could happen if north and south would fight them together. Noone of them would come back home. But Tajiks are moderate people, don´t hate anyone, are not viewing themself better than anyone(except some stupid low life people like Fahim), accept every creature as part of this world and part of that ground. Without the support of Pakistan for Taliban, Taliban were never be able to reform itself in 1996 and come back to Afghanistan. To 96 they were defeated many times by Massoud and his men. Not only Taliban, but also Gulbuddin, Whadat party, Dostum, the Arabs ... in the past neither British nor Mughals feard you. Otherwise how could they establish themself 300 years, you beeing part of them? Without Khushal Khan Khattak´s nationalism Pashtuns maybe would still live under Mughals. Ironically, all the things for that he is famous he was teached in the Mughal court where he got his education and all other of his skills. If 100 000 Indians claim beeing ''Afghans'' than not because they wnat to claim on Pashtun pride but because they want to show and apart themself from the hated non-Muslims who are the worst enemies of Muslims in India.

A variety of ancient groups with eponyms similar to Pukhtun have been hypothesized as possible ancestors of modern Pashtuns. The RigvedaPaktha inhabiting eastern Afghanistan and academics have proposed their connection with today's Pakhtun people.[13][14] Furthermore, the Greek historian HerodotusPactyans living in the same area (Achaemenid's Arachosia Satrapy) as early as the 1st millennium BC.[15] It is believed that these may have been the ancient ancestors of Pashtuns.[13] (1700–1100 BC) mentions a tribe called mentioned a people called
Some of modern-day Pashtun tribes have also been identified living in ancient Gandhara (i.e. Alexander's historians mentioned "Aspasii" in 330 BC and that may refer to today's Afridis).[48] Herodotus has mentioned the same Afridi tribe as "Apridai" over a century earlier.[49] Strabo, who lived between 64 BC and 24 CE, explains that the tribes inhabiting the lands west of the Indus River were part of Ariana and to their east was India.[13]
In the Middle Ages until the advent of modern Afghanistan in the 18th century and the division of Pashtun territory by the 1893 Durand Line, Pashtuns were often referred to as ethnic "Afghans". The earliest mention of the name Afghan (AbgĂ¢n) is by Shapur I of the Sassanid Empire during the 3rd century CE,[16][17][50] which is later recorded in the 6th century CE in the form of "Avagānā" by the Indian astronomer Varāha Mihira in his Brihat-samhita.[18] It was used to refer to a common legendary ancestor known as "Afghana", grandson of King Saul of Israel.[12][42][51] Hiven Tsiang, a Chinese pilgrim, visiting the Afghanistan area several times between 630 to 644 CE also speaks about them.[16][52] In ShahnamehAwgaan.[16] Ancestors of many of today's Turkic-speaking Afghans settled in the Hindu Kush area and began to assimilate much of the culture and language of the Pashtun tribes already present there.[53] Among these were the Khalaj people which are known today as Ghilzai.[54]
Similar names does not make you descandants of anyone. You can be their descandants since you live in the region but also other people can claim beeing from Arachosia. Not all modern Pashtuns are descandants of Sasaanian´s ''Avagana''. Beside that, these are all Greec terms. The native names sound different. The Arokha of Panjab can claim beeing Arachosians, too ... because of their name. And how can Aspasi become Afghan? I also doubt that there were ever Turkic-speaking Afghans. There were Turkic-speaking people who became Afghans/Pashtuns through assimilation but not Turkic-speaking Afghans. Not possible. Do you understand what i mean? Maybe your ancestory is Arab or Jew or Indian? How can you claim on Avagana? The term Avagana was also used for the region that is known today as Nuristan, Kalash, Chitral. So the name had another meaning but only the people who today are known as Pashtuns used it for themself while those others were known as Avaganas but never called themself or adoptet later the term for their tribe.

Saul, a pleasant village on a mountain. In it live Afghans.[44]
              —Hudud ul-'alam, 982 CE
That´s the time after Islamic conquest. Now we meet eachother. The years where Afgahns really formed themself.

The village of Saul was probably located near Gardez, Afghanistan. Hudud ul-'alam also speaks of a king in Ninhar (Nangarhar), who had Muslim, Afghan and Hindu wives.[44] Al-Biruni wrote about Afghans in the 11th century as various tribes living in the western mountains of India and extending to the region of Sind, which would be the Sulaiman MountainsKhorasan and Hindustan. It was reported that between 1039 and 1040 CE Mas'ud I of the Ghaznavid Empire sent his son to subdue a group of rebel Afghans near Ghazni. An army of Arabs, Afghans, Khiljis and others was assembled by Arslan Shah Ghaznavid in 1119 CE. Another army of Afghans and Khiljis was assembled by Bahram Shah Ghaznavid in 1153 CE. Muhammad of Ghor, ruler of the Ghorids, also had Afghans in his army along with others.[55] A famous Moroccan travelling scholar, Ibn Battuta, visiting Afghanistan following the era of the Khilji dynasty in early 1300s gives his description of the Afghans. area between
What has this to do with Afghans and their achievments? Khilji was not Afghan. They were Turks. A part of them became Pashtunized. Khiljis do exist in Iran, Azerbidjan, too. Are they the lifegiver of Khilji dynasty? Now you just provide sources for Pashtuns origin. I did not ask for these. You claimed we Tajiks are grabbing the pride of Pashtuns and their achievments and I asked you which achievments and now you provide me something I can´t need or do not support your claims. Let´s give you only one small example of Tajiks achievments. Khushal Khan Khattack copied Tajik poets, as well legendary Rahman Baba who was a fan of Maulana.

ANA is Afghan national army because it is the army of Afghanistan. Those people are referred to as Afghan Nationals but not as Afghans as ethnicity. those people associate with Afghanistan not Tajikistan. Muslims associate with Hindustan and not Muslim Pakistan because they are Hindustan Nationals and not Paksitan Nationals. Like Admin already said The Indic people call us Patans and not just the Pashtun/Afghans of Pakistan but also Pashtuns/Afghans of Afghanistan. WE are all Patan to them, there are many theories on why this is so but Indic Scholars have always referred to us as Afghans. My previous posts proves this you ignorant Fascist.
Why should they be known as Afgahns if they are not Afghans? You see your contradiction? Afghan as ethnicity is lost. There is only Pashtuns. Today, Afghan exists under the term of nationality, not tribe or any race. That´s why it is called as AFGHAN NATIONAL ARMY tough beeing dominated by non-Pashtuns. You are a racist and possibly not even an Afghan but a Pakistani Pashtun brother.

I have never claimed Herat city itself being Pashtuns, but the overall province. You reference to me wikipedia about the demographics when it is claiming that they do not have exact figures. Wiki gets manipulated and Tajikan crew have pledged your all unworth time and efforts to edit it with your BS. What a low lives. Why don't you ask your daddy or some elder in your family about the districts and demograpics than instead arguing with me, I unlike to do not feel to lie and make things up, half of the districts such as Pashtun Zarghoo, Shindand, Kushk, Guzaran and the numerous more are overwhlmingly Pashutuns. But any way, if you keep insisting then so be it and good for you. And yes my friend, they do speak Pashtu in most districts where they live, however, there are alwasy exceptions. Like the Noorzais of Shindand in the east speak harsh Pashtu, their cousin in the West of Shindand (Noorzai) have adapted Farsi.

Now come back with the challenge I presented you Pahlawan Kadozadah.
In Herat province Shindand is the only region where Pashtuns are majoriyt (60%)... you just need to go by yourself to Herat on next Afghanistan trip. You just lie here.

                • Kabulzada, Let me break your other myth of Tajiks being modern and educated. Tell me in which field and profession Pashtuns in Afghanistan cannot beat you and haven't beaten you, constructive competition wise speaking?

Generally speaking, you guys are probably the less talanted people when it comes to education, in comparison to Pashutns and Hazaras. You people are only good in giving it large and good in "nataaqi". Modern, you cannot make a difference between your aas and your head.

Fahim is your leader. Don't tell me you are proud of Abdullah. You are an example of being a good uoooqi e lauda!

I have to admit that I was wrong about you d!ckhead and how condescending you appear. You are either a little jerk or you don't how to express yourself and to talk. I will give you the benifit of the doubt. I guess you need to be put in your place where you belong.

Hekmatyar rightfully turned Massoud's long lost kingdom a hell for him, while Taliban beat him and if you associate Massoud to all Tajiks to a resounding and spontaneous defeat with its reverberation still felt and the truma fresh. You are a handicap case of that defeat. Taliban defeated Massoud in every battle decisively untill he was cornered to one single valley. Do not dress defeat as a victory, you a shameless creature and a liar bereft of any meaningful attribute. Your constant bugging is quite embarassing.

How can a Kandahari claim beeing a Tajik?? That is not possible. Only Pashtuns in Herat identify themself with the Farsiwans or feel close with their Farsiwan brothers than to others. Have you ever seen a Akhakzai Pashtun claiming beeing a Tajik? Of course not. That would be ridicolous.

Why do you permanently insult me? I did not say anything bad to you. Dear brothers, please give respect to others and you get payed back with respect. We are all human-beeings and equal to god and in Islam.

                        Kadozadah,

Show me a single Pashtun who is claiming to be a Tajik. I also have nothing against Farsiwans and if you read all my posts in this thread I have defended them with more dignity and rigour than you ahmaq e lauda.

Give me a single example of a Pashtun claiming to be Tajik while I have shoven 3 mega ones in your aas. Enjoy them and they should remain there untill you come and give me an example of a Pashtun. (Remember Abdullah, Karmal and coupld of more's head in your aas hahaha lol)

You are defeated nicely and squarely through your own dishonourable act.
You heard about Gulnar? It´s a pure Pashtun village, western of Herat, but the population feel close to Tajiks. The Taliban attacked that villagers because of their support for Ismael Khan and Heratis and killed 240 civilians. After killing the innocent people they established themself there till NATO troups cleaned the region. You act as such individuals do not exists among Tajiks, Pashtuns, Hazaras. I even met Pashtuns from Tehran who told me by their own words (I swear on the dignity of evrything that is holly for me) that they feel closer to Farsiwans and Iranians than to others. One girl who studies in Tehran said she will live in Tehran, forever. There are also Tajiks and Hazaras who identify themself today with Pashtuns.

Ps: what can I be in your eyes? A Tajik or a Pashtun?

                              • Here we go, so they claimed to be Tajiks? And what about the Kandahari commanders who fought for Massoud? In Afghanistan solidarity is based on locality, local interets and region, and not too much on ethnicity particularly in mix areas. That doesn't prove you outrageous claim for self soothing. Remember Abdullah and Karmal still stuck in your aas.
