i dispute the idealism and good intent claim. read 'the great iraqi heist'. any idealism was a sweetener for ears that were listening. i believe it was pure propaganda. the 'project for the new american century' was well underway by then.

Idealism or good intentions don't sound sweet on my ears when you are talking about waging war with a people. Wars should never be fought on "good intentions" or over Ideals. I don't doubt some idealoguges consider their ideas "good intentions". But it always makes me grab onto my wallet when I hear that sort of talk. PNAC is evil by the way, in the truest sense of the word. Its anti-democratic and certainly anti-American. We are delving deep into a period of US foreign policy that history should remember as "the dark days of american diplomacy" Perhaps I should have put the sarcastic quotes around "good intentions" and "Idealism" earlier.Originally posted by faye View Posti dispute the idealism and good intent claim. read 'the great iraqi heist'. any idealism was a sweetener for ears that were listening. i believe it was pure propaganda. the 'project for the new american century' was well underway by then.

Sure.Originally posted by Whisley 2-6 View PostI'll try not to selectively quote you here...
Oh I see. Can't you tell your commander what you think about the situation?1)Influencing policy is not the"least I could do." Its out of the question. I am not a diplomat, nor do I hold elected office, nor do I posses sufficent military rank to create doctrine. In this, I am equally frustrated as you.
Again, what makes you so confident that they aren't fighting you because of the recent airstrikes?2)Not that simple and you know it. Like I said earlier, I fight and kill mostly foreign fighters and young, single Afghans.
Do you think Afghans hated Americans? Do you also think Afghans blew up the twin towers? Brother Matt, those Afghans have not picked up weapons because they were ' jealous ' of your beautiful apartment, or your rights here in the US. They have picked up weapons because they see a foreigner in their land, for no given reason. If you argue that the reason is to offer Afghans a better life, then I must confess that the way you are going by it is absolutely wrong. The fundamentals of stability, is a stable government. That is something we Americans have miserably failed in. I'm going to consistently stress this so you can understand the image from an Afghans perspective, no matter what you do, or how you do it, without a proper Afghan government, Afghanistan won't develop. You can't offer aid to a nation like Pakistan, that is playing an obvious double game here. My tax ends up going to Pakistan, a nation that has not only betrayed Afghans, but they are now betraying their "allies".
I am applying common sense Matt . You aren't a Pashtun, so perhaps you might not understand the context of the issue. I don't mean to sound condescending my friend, but let me perhaps dumb it down a bit. NATO is responsible for killing thousands of civilians, the aforementioned is undoubtedly true. Those civilians whom have died, are the in the South[the majority]. They belong to an ethnic group known as the 'Pashtuns'. The Pashtuns aren't your average Joe. If they lose a sister, or a daughter, or a wife, they pick up a gun and they will hunt down the enemy. Pashtuns call it 'Badal' and they have been practicing this code for thousands of years. Before the USA even existed. And they have applied this code to the Greeks, Britain, and the soviets, remember? Now whether you want to call them the Taliban or not is completely up to you, as we can see, it's subjective. I'm pretty confident you would be doing the same anyways. Isn't it interesting how most Afghans don't even know what the Twin towers is? or where the USA is even located? Do you not perhaps comprehend the obvious algorithm here? Afghans do not hate you. They are being forced to hate Americans after NATO has killed thousands. That, however, doesn't mean the Taliban are innocent either. I am in no way or form supporting the Taliban. I have many problems with the Taliban. But the "intelligence" that I can perhaps share with you is that when you kill 2 civilians, the Taliban gets more recruits of average Afghans who are thirsty to drink the blood of NATO.Its just disingenuious to portray the insurgency as a well meaning group of disenfranchised Afghans. Consider your audience here, and if you truly believe this perhaps you should come to Paktika.
Well, I used that because NATO did indeed wipe off a village in Kandahar? Remember? No matter what the justification was, it did happen. So it's not like it's hot-air or something.
1) Again, can we please tone down the rhetoric. Its 10 years into this fight and even the Taliban understand we don't "wipe off villages."
Wooh. Easy buddy. No where, and I mean no where in my life have I ever implied that I support the Talibs, or any group for that matter. I, or you, have no right to shove something down the throat of an Afghan. I was not born in Afghanistan, nor am I an Afghan citizen, so I will never choose something for them. I will have the Afghans choose what they want to choose. Now to be fair here, if you want my opinion, I would never want to live under the Taliban. I am not a hypocrite, I wouldn't want someone telling me that having a laptop is Haram, or me watching the T.V[which I don't watch anyways]is immoral in general. I think it was an open secret that the some elements of the Taliban served as Pakistanis proxies for their leverage in Afghanistan. Matt, isn't it ironic that the USA has allied with a nation that not only supported the Taliban, but they recognized them as a proper, legitimate government? I find that electrifying! If you truly feel that is Taliban rule than so be it. I hope for your sake and the sake of your countrymen they disagree with you in sufficent numbers.
Good.1) There are just a ton of idiots everywhere, America is certainly no exception. In my opinion these people have more in common with the people the claim to oppose than they would acknowledge. There are plenty more where this came from as well. It is the voice of hate, no question about it.
I am no different than you Matt. If they see my passport, and my place of birth, I doubt I'd be welcomed.2) Lets get on that then. I think you should be a professor there. Unless there are security concerns what with all the angry villagers who have "picked up guns". Please come here. Please see what is happening on the border. Please stop pointing fingers and start rolling up sleeves.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

The post by this wild, depraved soul lends credence to the white man's inherent racism. Notice how he refers to me as a subhuman just because I am black. I contend that the reason he joined the Army to kill and maim Afghans was also because he considers Afghans subhuman. To him, they are not human enough to be spared. Killing them is like killing cattle.
Please be aware of these degenerate, wicked souls. Day by day they are showing their true colours. The forces of good will triumph over evil.
Hold your hands together, Afghans, in peaceful protest and goodwill. With faith and firm allegiance, we from Congo are with you in the struggle towards triumphing over these creatures.

Urgun kalay is thriving, mostly becasue of the Tajiks. Sarobi is still floundering, the leadership there is like a group of crabs in a bucket. Pirkoti and the Waziris are hopeless. The only spot of hope around are the Kharotis of whom the taliban are legitimately afraid of. Arbakais are being established in Sarobi and its my hope they will bring some stability to the region. I don't know. Still pretty hurt over the comments above. Who could be so heartless.Originally posted by Not an idiot View PostWhisley

i lost my sex and the city season 2 dvd in afghanistan, the war is doomed. There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

This miscreant is too infatuated and obsessed with the white man's culture and acceptance of the white man, that he fails to think with a straight head. He is in a permanent delusion. Deliberately insulting and spiteful.Originally posted by randolph85 View Posti lost my sex and the city season 2 dvd in afghanistan, the war is doomed.
He cares not that the people displaced due to violent bombardments by animals like Whisley have to live in squalor and hunger, in extreme climates, with their children and elderly. I have seen with my own eyes them burying their children and elderly in the camps who didn't make it. It is only so much for a small organization to support. There are around 450000 displaced in camps throughout Afghanistan alone. Which one of you has risen in support of them? Which one of you has condemned the likes of Whisley who are merely out on a blood-thirsty picnic to shoot your weak whom he considers subhuman and strips of their resources?
I have done far more for your nation and people than you soap-opera and fast-food addicts can imagine.
