What is with you and this obsession over the looks of bearded men?? Don't answer.
lol i like my pakhtuns. what can i say... pakhtana always have beards. a man can not enter a pakhtun village without it without being considered a shemale. same goes for covering the head but its seen more as a sign of respect.

you are supposed to like people for their values and your own people regardless of their skin/hair/eye color. Quite the exception.. Aren't you??

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

yeah in rural afghanistan it is like that. ask around... they make fun of you if you dont have a beard. they even consider you homo lol. and you are less respected without a head covering. that's why US special forces in the army were encouraged to grow beards in order to gain the acceptance of the locals. they didnt use that as a tactic anywhere in iraq but only in afghanistan.

these were people that mainly were assigned the task to win hearts and minds. they spent most of their times in bazaars and in correspondence with locals. how contradictory their aims were is not related to me, im just relaying you the facts.

You are correct, in the pashtun belt, for example in Wana, the young men cover their heads and eventually adopt the turban. My Wazir in laws tell me it is a shameful thing over there for a young men to leave his head uncovered and his face shaven.

This phenomena is not unique to Pashtun culture.. in the Old Testament.. to mourn a bad deed they would put on sack cloth and shame themselves by shaving their beards.

I am very proud to know you and never feel as if you are in the minority. You put the men of the ummah to shame with your strength and resolute mind.

Your responding to an idiot that knows nothing about pushtun ways or culture and how it evolved. His mind is so contaminated with filth that he thinks if a woman is not wearing a miniskirt, she is backwards and uncivilized. He is a lost cause.

Most journalists that described Afghanistan in the early days of the US invasion described it as "a place lifted out of the pages of the bible."

True. Even Saddam Hussain told the judge that was presiding over his trial "Who are you, who authorized you to preside over this trial, the Iraqi people have not authorized you." A classic case of a former puppet criticizing the new puppet.

the thought of the fact that I am conversing is enough to disgust me. I don't have to go one step ahead and compare you to myself.
I have no respect or sympathy for an afghan who is out to kill his own people. Likewise, you would be more disappointed in your brother if he was to bite you than you would be of a dog.

You are a much older person and should be wiser than what you post. You do realize that people in a society are bound to be killing each other if there are not enough resources to go around. The problem in Afghanistan does not lie with the people, they are doing what they are expected to be doing and that is fighting to survive. The problem lies with the administrators. They are not doing what they are supposed to be doing which is providing to the people instead of stealing from them.
You are so naive to realize the truth and only see what the west wants you to see. Go read about how societies evolve and then learn how to talk to youngsters. These youngsters are the future and the way you talk to them has no productive effect.

its kinda funy that when my father was growing up in his village he didn't have a beard and he also
did not cover his head. nobody cared if you shaved it or not. I only know that it was a great shame if you once had a bear and then shaved it. Its only now beacuause of the Taliban and other extremist you must have a beard otherwise you are not respected.
