Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is dead and his body is in U.S. custody, President Barack Obama will announce tonight, an administration official said.
Obama will deliver the news to the nation in an address from the White House, almost 10 years after the Sept. 11 attacks that bin Laden orchestrated. Bin Laden was killed by U.S. assets in a mansion outside Islamabad, Pakistan, along with other members of his family, an official said.
Almost 3,000 people were killed on Sept. 11, most at the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Virginia just outside of Washington.
The administration has been briefing congressional officials ahead of the president’s address.
Obama and his predecessor, former President George W. Bush, made capturing Bin Laden a key national security priority. Obama has called the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan the “epicenter of violent extremism,” where he said al-Qaeda leader bin Laden was hiding.

Well this puts you in a predicament does it not? You and Farhat Taj ANDERSEN were constantly touting the Arab presence in the FATA. Yet it turns out that the modern Hannibal Barka was within the heart of the Panjab itself (if the mansion reports are true). So many innocent Pashtuns dead in FATA because of the supposed Arab menace in Bajaur or the Waziristans.

In the end, the man they most sought, the one who bought them to their knees, died away from FATA.

this is all too close to the Afghan-Pak meeting. Could this be a an attempt at a dignified manner of withdrawal?

Osama bin Laden, the face of terror, killed in Pakistan

(CNN) -- The most prominent face of terror in America and beyond, Osama Bin Laden, has been killed in Pakistan, U.S. officials said Sunday night.

Bin Laden was the leader of al Qaeda, the terrorist network behind the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. U.S. officials said that their forces have the body of bin Laden.

The enormity of the destruction -- the World Trade Center's towers devastated by two hijacked airplanes, the Pentagon partially destroyed by a third hijacked jetliner, a fourth flight crashed in rural Pennsylvania, and more than 3,000 people killed -- gave bin Laden a global presence.

Once again this presents a predicament to the dyed in the wool bomb FATA supporters here if he truly was caught in Islamabad. We have been saying all along that the innocent Pashtuns being murdered in FATA at the drone attack at the behest of various parties were pissing in the wind. Now, we hear exactly that confirmed.

Osama is confirmed dead. Like others said, before we wash our hands and leave Afghanistan, I'm sure this was one of the last on our checklist.

As misguided and harmful to the Ummah as he was, May Allah (swt) who is the most merciful extend his mercy on all, including Osama Bin Laden.
