    Saifullah's - Politics of Business

The Saifullahs of the Frontier have been an integral part of power politics in Pakistan. They have nothing to do with the system or the form of government. They have equally participated in military dictatorships and the so-called democratic governments tailored on different occasions to deceive the civilized world.
It is very difficult to differentiate between their politics and business. They have adeptly used the two for ...

Brother, one article based on one journalist does not mean anything. Secondly, you are very very wrong about lack of developmental politics. in our area, 40 years ago we did not have that many roads, schools, tube wells, water supply schemes, grid schemes, degree college, hospitals etc.
Saifullah family has done soo much for the development of the area that it is unprecedented not only in Frontier Province, but all over Pakistan.
You my brother are welcome to come to district Lakki Marwat, and you can see for yourself.

My small village had no tube well 20 years ago even. Now my village has girls school, boys school, tube wells, transformers, and solid road. There was dirt road before, but now it is solid road self funded by the saifullahs from their own pocket. some of it is government schemes, and some private.

there are people in my village who were jobless, but are now employed in government jobs as well as private jobs like lakki cement factory Saifullah brothers dont even have 1 percent share in the factory, but they forcred their karachi partner to set it up in lakki marwat he want to set up in nizampur. my brother 25000 family are depdendent on lucky cement for livelihood not only workers who work in the plant, but truck drivers, shopkeepers, local contractors and their employees, petrol pump owners and their employees etc

they have built bridges, BHUS etc, and many times when government funding is not coming they fund from pockets yes there is more development work needed, but the progress in our district is remarkable

we have more schools in our district than nowkhar and charsadda, yet our population is much much less.
and you say low paying government jobs, many ppl in our area due to development of family have good jobs all over pakistan, some making more than 30,000 rupeees per month some even more than that. if you dont call that development i dont know what u will call development these are not handpicked cronies many of the people who are in good employment now they have turned their backs on their khans, but saifullah brothers never attemp to fire them. It was said that anyone who returns empty handed from Khan Sahib Faizullah Khan was bad bakht. Kabool Khel was one area where there was no strong vote bank of family, but they arranged grid for them anyway, so it is not even about voting

also the family's struggle against fazal-e-haq is legendary, and in the papers of the 1980s which are not online. Bhutto was there to inaugerate wells and clean drinker water in 1970. Present were Justice Habibullah khan Mina Khel, First Chairman of Pakistan Senate and Humayun Saifullah khan who was minister for PWD

Also yes we are not against bacha khan, but in areas of Lakki Marwat, Tank, Bannu, DI Khan, Karak, South Wazirstan, North Wazirstan people do not care much about Baccha khan or what he stood for. In many cases he is not liked by the people there. This is not to say that he was bad leader, but i am just making a valid point

Also when you say this was admitted about 70 times, this is an utter misquote, and has never been admitted, people can write anything we want. although i know from first hand account, that there was an argument when the Nationalist side said you are English or something like that, and PML Side replied yes, at least we are not Hindus or Hindu supporters

also you talk about business interests, many many many times business interests have been hurt due to Politics. the bannu electric supply company purchased by the family in 1927 at request of Bannu people, so a HINDU could not purchase it was nationalized by Khan Qayyum Khan Chief Mninster of NWFP. Dehydration plant and much land was nationalized and seized. Also the road constructed by the family from peshawar to nowshera; they made major loses as government was against them. on purchase of one sugar mill, they had highest bid, yet government gave it to another person pir abbas i believe because fazal e haq against them. so dont be simplistic in your assertions

so your question yes having a government in your favour can help you, but also not be in favour of u and be bad for business

during land reforms marwat khans lost much land

brother i am not arguing with you just saying not to be simplistic each side has a view and to be entitled to it, but bitter rivalry does no one good if you believe in your cause i wish you success truly with it, and wish us ours if we truly believe in it selling out is a not a word. it is clash of idealogy. but now we have ANP government in place, and we can measure their performance at the end of term. i dont like measuring in middle as as lot can happen best luck to u brother

            Daily National Courier
            Letter to the editor
            Saifullah Brothers social
            welfare services laudable

One would greatly appreciate the sincere services and sacrifices of Saifullah Brother’s who distributed various food items of twenty two trucks among nine hindered and fifty families, the effected and needy people. In addition to that they also distributed the daily use items along with one month ration in all the effected areas of District Lakki Marwat.
Ex-Federal Minister and Senator Saleem Saifullah Khan also distributed the food items among the flood affectees in district Lower Dir.
Saifullah Brother’s concentrate their minds always for the betterment of poor people in regard to provision of Education, health, economy, water, electricity and roads constructions.
For example regarding this social reforms, the “KURRUM THANGI DAM” was an old scheme, but due to the continuous efforts of Senator Saleem Saifullah Khan, this scheme was revived. The revival of this old scheme which is one of his best achievements.
In the education and health sector, Govt. colleges, polytechnic colleges, Schools for boys and girls, Hospitals at District and Tehsil level, BHU’s in village and towns have already been established but the approval of Cadet College and another high standard hospital at district Lakki are the greatest achievements of Saifullah Brothers.
They have also constructed new Govt. Courts and offices and Polytechnic College on the main Road of Tajazai in District Lakki Marwat so that the poor people could get easy justice, with less expenditure. Tube wells and hand pumps for pure drinking water and 32 volt Grid stations at various places have been installed, which have solved the problems of water and electricity to some extent. On trade point of views most of the villages and towns have been linked with the city of Lakki Marwat through roads.
When Anwar Saifullah Khan was the Federal Minister he provided employments to the thousands of young.
Saifullah brothers have inherited such sincere qualities and virtues from their father and grandfather Faizullah Khan who was the most charitable benevolent and liberal person throughout the country.
I would like to mention here the only one example of generosity of Khan Saifullah Khan who was a member of National Assembly during the period of President Ayub Khan. At that time I was a student of Bannu College in 1963. As I belonged to Wazir tribe. The Govt. sanctioned only six scholarships for six students of FR. Bannu. But the Wazir students were twelve in college in the same year. When Saifullah Khan was told the matter he sanctioned twelve tribal scholarships for twelve Wazir students. On the other had Khan Abdus Sattar Khan got approval of one timber permit from DC Bannu for the same Wazir students. Due to these helpings the financial matters of the Wazir students were solved.
Any how we can say that Saifullah Brothers are politicians on national level always think of unity and help the poor the needy people, they are their sincere helpers without any personal greed or reward. We the Ex-Chairman Union Council Khander Khankhel Landi Jalander Haji Afsar Khan and ex-organizing Secretary Sports Pakistan Education Boards Amil Khan Wazir would greatly appreciate their goodwill gestures.

I have had some interaction with them and have found them to be traditional Pashtuns with an aristocratic aura . They are good hospitable Pashtuns in individual-to-individual dealing and social relations.

Politically, they have looked after their family interest well and have taken advantage of the proximity to the ruling Punjabi-Mahajar elite and the British before them (through centralist and rightest politics).

They opposed NWFP renaming as KPK. The Mobilink thing about them is true.
              brother
there are only 3 companies which are listed on stock exchange. Saif Textile Mills, and Kohat Textile Mills (which are owned), and some shareholding in Gadoon Textile Mills. Lucky Cement factories family has less than 1 percent share

you may check the stock exchange for clarificaiton

Seems you are from Afghanistan or from a country other than Pakistan. Pashtuns in Pakistan are absolutely pro-Pakistan. I belong to district Bannu, and never in my life I have come across any Pashtun speaking against Pakistan. We love Pakistan from the core of our hearts, and we shall continue to love our country despite the current odds. Please let this be a Pashtunforum, and do not make it anti-Pakistan forum.

That's funny, some members also from Bannu were complaining about how oppressed their people are under Pakistan.

They got banned anyway though lol.
