  • ANP cadres in Karachi

No doubt that Awami National Party togethor with Pukhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party are few of Pakhtuns only hopes ... Old parties, active in politics for almost a century, these are the forces that have withstood the onslaught from Punjab's establishment and its Islamist cronies...the so-called Akhwanis, Pan-Islamists, and extremists.

This is all deceitful self aggrandizing propaganda; the truth is most secularist parties wave Pakistani flags and are Nationalistic Pakistanis; this whole smokescreen is to divert focus from their subservience and portray themselves as heroes to manipulate/brainwash and dupe the masses into conforming.

the Secularists have been the biggest sell outs to to everyone; not just Pakhtuns; and this applies across the board in the Middle East and Asia; with Arab Secularists and Kurdish Secularists, really they serve to maintain the establishment to prevent Muslims from regaining true independence and self sustainence and always maintain dependence on imperialists.

Shortly after the attack, Asfandyar Wali Khan left Charsadda in a helicopter sent by the Prime Minister. He has come under severe criticism by certain elements who alleged that he should have stayed after the attack and attended funerals of the deceased, instead of escaping his home

The party espouses a liberal pro-Pashtun philosophy advocating regional autonomy and increased cultural expression. A frequent coalition partner in provincial politics, it was routed in the 2002 elections because of its opposition to the Taliban and support for the US invasion of Afghanistan.

The ANP has its faults like anyone else but here are its merits.

                    1. Has re-named the so-called "North West Frontier Province" to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

                    2. Has successfully dealt with the challenge from Hazara bigots who were supported by the Punjabi media and establishment including the PML-Q of Nawaz Sharif.

                    3. Has successfully thwarted the establishment of a wall/fence on the Durrand line.

                    4. Has defended Pakhtoons in Karachi.

                    5. Has defended Pakhtoons in Lahore.

                    6. Has mobilized to help Muslims affected by the floods last year.

                    7. Has now made Pashto compulsory at high school level.

                    8. Secured major autonomy for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to the level that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa can interact and negotiate with foreign entities such as the EU and sovereign countries on certain issues e.g. education.

                    9. Is trying to combat poverty and unemployment.

He maintained. He said although our government has achieved 80% targets of its political manifesto and promises yet our direction is right to achieve the rest of 20% targets for establishment of peace. He said loans would be offered under Bacha Khan Khpal Rozgar Scheme in order to eliminate poverty and unemployment. He expressed these views during Bacha Khan and Abdul Wali Khan Death anniversary at Birmingham (UK). ANP European Union arranged the ceremony.
                    http://pakobserver.net/detailnews.asp?id=74075

                    10. The ANP are a party trying to work constructively using peaceful means and strongly believe in the importance of peace as per the way of Fakhr i Afghan, Badshah Khan (rahmatullahi alaih). It was Fakhr i Afghan and Wali Khan and others who tried hard to stop the 1971 war from happening. If stopping civil war in what was then the biggest Muslim country on earth is not helping Islam, what is?

                    11. However the ANP even have Hindko and Punjabi members including Ghulam Ahmed Bilour who threatened a "Bangladesh" scenario in 2009 if Pashtun IDPs could not go to other provinces of Pakistan.

LAHORE: The Minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour has worried that the situation of Pakistan may become like the fall of Bangladesh if the internally displaced persons from Swat and Malakand Division are barred from entering premises of other provinces.

“The current military offensive against Taliban will be ended in two to three weeks”, he claimed.
                    http://sachiidosti.com/forum/news-cu...ps-influx.html

Then in 2010, Bilour threatened a "Bangladesh" scenario, if NWFP was not renamed.

LAHORE: Railways Minister and a central leader of the Awami National Party, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour has said Bengalis chose to end their allegiance to Pakistan to get recognition and ìnow it is up to the politicians of the country whether they recognise the Pakhtuns by naming their province after them or go for the Bengali Model.î....Bilour said Pakhtuns have been part of this region for centuries and have ruled the subcontinent for over a hundred years; so they have every right to be recognised. The ANP leader said it was the agenda of the Western powers to eliminate the existence and identity of the Pakhtun race, because they suffered heavy resistance and losses at their hands. Therefore, anyone trying to deny the Pakhtuns their identity was toeing the agenda of the Western world and playing as an aide to their revenge, he added.
                    http://forum.pakistanidefence.com/in...howtopic=88459

So in 2009 and 2010 the ANP through Bilour (who is actually a Punjabi and not an ethnic Pakhtoon) threatened Pakistan with war from its second biggest nation.

So please can people refrain from ANP-bashing, as they do not understand the complex reality the ANP are operating in.

Things like name changes are cosmetic; the guy takes rides with the Prime-Minister of Pakistan; furthermore ethno-centrism is a charlatan tactic being used to keep the Muslim world constantly embroiled in conflict.

It's the same tactic Pakistan used to massacre Bengalis. It's more than just faults. It's how Ethno-centrists have become patsies for the benefit of no one except Imperial Powers.

Even in those Pashto classes they praise Quad-i-Azam as some Demigod.

And all the humanitarian things he does that celebrity dork Imran Khan does too. We know how kooky that fool is.

Here is another one that speaks about 3000 words to all the Afghans. Look at his murdering, ugly, dictator endorsing, bay sharmaa clown face. He is about as clownish as his alcoholic colleague Asfandyaar the plutocrat.

Unfortunately, Toramana, your strategy is to maintain this lack of meritocrarcy amongst Pashtun parties and keep this "thaash aadookaay saar" leader in power while murdering your real hope from above with the bombs of others.

Akhi, the first thing is, although impossible of achievability, I am fundamentally not against a sort of political confederation between Muslim communities at regional level provided it is voluntary and guarantees native rights (cultural, economic, etc.).

Second thing is, contrary to what you say, this was only the secular Khudai Khidmatgar movement since its creation in 1930s that first stood to British imperialism and later to the Muhajir-Punjab domination as the client/sub-imperialism of the West. I should mention that secular parties in Pakistan have been more sympathetic to the rights of Baluchis , etc. compared to Islamists and other parties of the right who have been playing the role of the lackeys of Pakistan's military establishment for a long time.

For example, Jumaath-i-Islami the Pakistan chapter of Muslim brotherhood backed by Pakistan Army played a role in the massacre of Bengalis in 1971 through its terrorist wings like Al-Badar and Al-Shams. This party has been in collusion with Punjab's srmy for a long time and at times has sarcastically been called the political wing of the Punjabi army. By virtue of that status and relationship, it also has served foreign/Western interests. Right now, almost all religious parties and other forces of the right e.g. Muslim League have the backing from ISI and Pakistan's military establishment and stand in the way of native rights.

Rest, to realise the Muslim Ummah utopia, you have to achieve integration at various levels; ideologically by filling the almost unbridgeable sectarian divide between various Muslim sects; second at the level of Arabs, who are currently divided geographically and politically into many countries with no hope of any union in near future; racially where the black and white Arab divide exists; and economically where the more prosperous but conservative countries like Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, etc. are resistant to share their oil-wealth with the destitute inhabitants of Yimin through a pan-Arab unity (ho Muslim unity).

After you have achived Arab unity, then you have to demonstrate to the rest of the Muslims that you are not just a concubine-loving, lazy, irrational, unproductive, and raw lot with civic sophistication not matching even a small city of Isreal (what to talk of the sophistication of the post modern world) but a progressive people able to lead other Muslims politically and culturally. Then I think it would be much easier for you to go ahead with the realization of MU utopia.

Until you are sure to achieve that, you can go vomit your Arab irrationalism and Pan-Muslim fanaticism somewhere else instead of engaging in irrelevant discussion in this thread.
