Iran’s discredited Press TV is spreading rumors that US soldiers raped and killed an Afghan girl in Farah province. We want to affirm first and foremost that there is no truth to this story at all. We have to wonder, why would you take the word of Iran’s state-run propaganda vehicle on the veracity of such a story? Is not Press TV rated as an unreliable source of information? The fact that no other media outlet in the world has picked up this story should speak volumes. Press TV has been caught on numerous occasions fabricating in some of its international coverage while locally staying away from any form of criticism against its regime financers. In one notorious case, Press TV “photo shopped” special effects clips purported to pro-Israel demonstrators in Iran, the implications of these doctored photos are that Iran is tolerant, while the Israelis are intolerant of Iran. Press TV used a photo shopped image of Iranian demonstrators who held posters in favor of Israel while the real media image displayed anti-Israel demonstrators in Iran. http://thepeoplescube.com/red/viewtopic.php?t=1657 The Press TV website quickly changed the picture when it was exposed as untruthful, but observers already saved a snapshot image. http://kamangir.net/2007/12/29 /press-TVs-latest-and-funniest-mistake/
ISAF policy takes all allegations seriously and we fully investigate any allegation. After the baseless Press TV news release, ISAF investigators found that no such alleged incident occurred in either RC west or anywhere in Farah province, Furthermore Farah provincial authorities, including provincial deputy chief of police has called it baseless propaganda, and added that no such incident has occurred nor been reported to them. An Afghan MOI spokesperson has also called the information baseless propaganda. Unfortunately peace haters are not above inventing conspiracy theories based on false allegations against the US. CENTCOM reassures forum readers that our troops are constantly instructed about how to honor and respect traditional Afghan females in a Muslim society. If God forbid, any such incident were to occur we assure you that justice will be done as in the Mahmudiyah incident in Iraq.
