that does not make the USA the best. The amount of problems the USA has, other countries dont.
I never said it was "the best." Though for your second point, you elaborate. Let's see:
1out of every 2 marriages are a divorce
Actually, the highest divorce rates in the world are in Sweden, and this certainly isn't a bad thing. Marriage is largely a sham, and women are getting out of abusive marriages, and people are feeling free to dump people they don't want to be with. It's certainly a good thing, most of the time anyway.
    Trade deficit
...do you know what a Trade deficit is? I agree, Trade deficit is a bad thing, but this is a really lousy criteria for a domestic problem, at least in the way you're saying. For more on the US trade deficit: http://rationalrevolution.net/war/taxation.htm http://www.rationalrevolution.net/ar...prosperity.htm
    New law in Arizona
Well, you're certainly ignorant on the topic then. Not only is it opposed by the Federal government, Europe has much harsher immigration laws (especially Switzerland) and is oftentimes called fortress Europe. No offense, but these were pretty lousy. :p
But yes I do consider Afghanistan as a proud Islamic country, Afghanistan is arguably the most diverse country in South/Central Asia.
Um, if you say so. Wouldn't the sub continent of India be more "diverse" though?

It does not have the word Islam even in its name contrary to what these Islam lovers or Arab lovers here would day dream.

      The official name is:

      MUMLIKATUL ARABIA TUL SAUDIA

in short is it written as KSA

We have a lot of fake ids of Pakistani loyalists pretending to be Pashtuns trying to win sympathies for the Pakistani ISI and Military policies which are anti Afghan and Anti Pashtun in reality . I pm'ed some of them and tried to talk to them in Pashto and they got exposed. However respecting their guest status in a Pashtun hujra, let them enjoy their time.I will not reveal their nicks. Most of them have chnaged their nicks too.

I neither want Pakistan nor Afghanistan to be so called Islamic country [which itself is an undefined terminology]. They are both Muslim nations states. Pakistan is more extremist and fundamentalist country contrary to the vision of its founder, who was a secular elite person least bothered about religion in the first place.

The so called Islamic status is due to the elite class and specailly military of Pakistan who uses religion as a tool to promote India phobia and project Pakistan as a muslim country which is under threat from all over the world [ofcourse due to its interventionist polciies] and hence justification of budget for the military the majority of which is from Punjab.

Afghanistan has been exploited in the name of religion and history is witness to it.The mujahideen mostly were ISI stooges and got lots of petro dollars and US dollars for their loyalties to CIA and Saudi Arabia.

Aafghanistan should be a humanist republic aiming at the welfare of the her inhabitants instead of trying to adopt an obsolete arab city state ideology which dint prove successful beyond sub tribes of a bigger tribe Quriash. Times has progessed and now science ,technology and modern knowledge of statecraft are the pre requisites of a stable state.

The fact is that afghanistan has never claimed to be an islamic state, it was always the democratic republic of afghanistan(de afghanistan jamohoori dawlat),the islamic republic is imposed upon us, in practical life it has no meaning. the arabs, the americans and pakiies have tried hard on the name.

Yep... at least in the U.S., women don't get imprisoned for driving.

As for the question of is Afghanistan an Islamic state, absolutely not. What does it do that's Islamic?

Neither is any other Muslim country Islamic at all. Simple: an Islamic government doesn't exist. We can't look at just one or two things--e.g., chopping of hands--and think it's Islamic. Islam doesn't say to chop the hands of all those who steal; what do you do in moments when a poor person steals, a poor person for whom the government is failing to provide EVEN though it's one of the richest in the world? That's not Islamic. Islamic laws aren't as simple as that, they're not as strict as we've made them to be, and they're certainly nothing like we practice them in reality. For instance, someone's ACCUSED of adultery, we stone her to death (never the man, of course; he's always faultless, according to our practices). That's not Islam.

In Afghanistan, as long as women are forbidden from going to school, the country will remain un-Islamic. As long as Shiites and other minorities are mistreated, for whatever reason, the country will remain un-Islamic.

Iran has the world "Islamic" in its title, and its constitution constantly says, "The government is based entirely on Islamic laws." Yet, it recognizes only the following religious groups of people: Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Zoroastrians. Why? What about other groups? It takes Quranic verses on war out of context and uses them to support their claim that non-Muslims should be killed. It takes other verses (on women) out of context and says this is what Islam says about women.

You can tell if a Muslim country is Islamic by first noting how its people are living (e.g., are they healthy? Are they prosperous? Are they well-educated? If they're not, what about the government? How rich is it? Where is its money going if not to its own people?); its relations with non-Muslims, both within the country and outside; its relations with other Muslim countries (there are reasons to believe that Islam supports the notion that "charity begins at home," which can also mean serving your own people -- which include those with whom you share a culture and those with whom you share a religion. In that case, how is this "Islamic" country treating Muslim countries worldwide?).

                And so on.

So, no. Afghanistan is not an Islamic country; it's a country dominated by Muslims, and that's all. If it could have a period in its history where inhumane people like the Taliban reigned, it can't be Islamic, or even have been Islamic. That doesn't mean, however, that it has no potential to be Islamic.

Still, one problem remains in my mind: What is "Islamic"? Not all Muslims will agree with us that Islam believes in choice - of religion, specifically. Not all will agree that Islam doesn't mind if your women get PhDs or drive or work. Not all will agree that non-Muslims are JUST as human as we Muslims are.

So let's first define an "Islamic government."

Oh yeah, I forgot in Saudi Arabia they forbid women from even driving! I wonder what a mother has to do if she needs to drive her kids to a hospital if they're having a medical emergency.

Here's a very old blog post where I first learned of Saudi Arabia, it brings up the driving thing alright:

Not so sure about that, although if it's not controlled/monitored by the government, it'd make sense.

It was also Saudi Arabia that made the big headlines when a girls' school there caught on fire, and it was neighboring a boys' school. School officials and other officers refused to let the females out of the school because then they'll see the males nearby :S AND it was also claimed that the girls weren't wearing "Islamic" clothing, by which they mean abayas (the long outfit that covers from head to foot). When girls tried to escape, the police beat them up.

15 girls got burnt to death in the fire.

The Saudi King himself had mentioned it in his interview by Barbara Walters http://www.saudinf.com/main/y8780.htm

many of you arguing about saudi, in my opinion its not islamic state, muslim state. the sharia laws are only for poors and non saudi citizens. the first simple question can a saudi woman marry to a non saudi? why not? what happens if one tries to marry a saudi citizen? the use of drug among saudis is very common. what happened to a saudi citizens and foreign if caught with drug? homosexuality among saudi men is very common, what happend to the abuser and what can be faced by the victim(non saudi)? these are just simple issues which clearly stated in sharia.

lol.... Just as I didn't/don't feel the need to announce to anyone that I'm Muslim, I don't see why anyone would have to announce that she/he is not. So, although your suggestion is greatly appreciated, I don't think it's called for. And you're free to have all your assumptions you want; I'm a Muslim whether you see me as one or not Just as you don't need my consent to be whatever religion you choose for yourself, I don't need yours either. You understand, marey.

Hmm... well, yeah, no religion is a toy to be played with; all religions are equal in my mind and all deserve to be treated equally.
However ... this thread and my posts in it haven't been on Islam; it's on whether Afghanistan is an Islamic state, which I answers is not and that there's no "Islamic" state anywhere in the world. I then explained why.

I'm not sure what you find problematic in that, AfghanLady khorey, so I really don't see the relevance of your post. I speak the truth, and wherever I've spoken anything but the truth, you should feel comfortable and confident enough to tell me so in that thread in response to that particular post. That option is ALWAYS open to you, just so you know.
