I was at a bank yesterday, and someone there asked where I was from in a conversation we were having, and when I said "Pakistan," he said, "Oh man - it's really sad what's going on there. Are your folks okay?"

It was the best thing a foreigner has ever said to me. I didn't know how to thank him for caring AND for knowing what's going on around the world outside of him!

Very few others have done the same.

      For those in the USA

While I was watching CNN I saw a UNICEF commercial which was asking for donations for Pakistan:

Text "FLOODS" to 864233 (UNICEF) to donate $10

      UNICEF

I also saw these links for these other two text options in this article http://chronicle.augusta.com/news/me...s?v=1282350508:

      - Text "SWAT" to 50555 to give $10 to the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, which distributes tents, relief supplies and humanitarian aid.

      - Text "FLOOD" to 27722 to donate $10 to the Pakistan Relief Fund created by the State Department. Learn more at state.gov/pakistanrelief

I'm happy to see these text options being made available and advertised please spread them around as best you can.

They are all the Same. The money goes straight to serving a Political/Relgionous Agenda

Why should we have any Charity that all that specific has a relgionous agenda to it, if we are working to help people through charity then why does Christianity,Islamic,Jewish charities have to serve their faithful ones only?

Goes straight to the pockets of retired pak army generals and Jihadists

just like it happened in the Kashmir EarthQuake appeal where 80 percent of aid was given to Lashkar E Tayba.

It is the responsibility of those present in Pakhtunkhwa to provide organisations within Pakhtunkhwa for contributions.

Give it directly to locals as you know your money will be safe.

                  Kind Regards

Please use the above. Sending your money to state funds are not the most effective as a lot of money is spent in bureaucracy.

Any of the 3 organisations above have people on the ground and document the aid via youtube clips.

They have published accounts which they by law have to submit and are available on the websites.

They also had people on the ground before the flooding, helping out in khyber pukhtunnkhwa with displaced citizens.

Please donate generously. I have and will continue too.

                            oh, they also accept paypal.

WASHINGTON: The US State Department launched a fresh appeal on Thursday for funds for Pakistan flood victims, spreading it across its website in bold letters.

The appeal that dominates first half of the official site reminds Americans that the most effective way they can assist in relief efforts is to provide support for urgent relief and recovery operations.

Encouraging people to give cash donations, the appeal notes that doing so was better than sending goods. “Cash donations allow aid professionals to procure the exact items needed; reduce the burden on scarce resources (such as transportation routes, staff time, warehouse space, etc); can be transferred very quickly and without transportation costs; support the economy of the disaster-stricken region; and ensure culturally, dietary and environmentally appropriate assistance,” it says.

The appeal also highlights the mechanism for the American public to contribute money to the ongoing efforts in Pakistan.

One is to donate online by visiting the US Department of State Pakistan Relief Fund page. Another is to text donations to Text “FLOOD” to 27722 from a mobile phone to give $10. Donors can also download a form and mail in their donations.

The appeal quotes US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as reminding Americans that “20 million members of the human family (are) in desperate need of help. This is a defining moment — not only for Pakistan, but for all of us.

“Every dollar makes a difference. $5 can buy 50 high-energy bars providing much needed nutrition; $10 can provide a child or mother with a blanket; and about $40 can buy material to shelter a family of four.”

For those living in USA, the State.gov relief page is a convenient one to ask your friends to send money. http://www.state.gov/pakistanrelief/index.htm
"O Pakhtuns!, Your house has fallen into ruin, let us rebuild it".
"I want to see my people educated and enlightened. A people with a vision and a strong sense of justice, who can carve out a future for themselves in harmony with nature".
