are you trying to be a psychic and think you know who i despise? you don't even know IF i despise.
don't leave your day job, sugarpot, you are a failure, even at mind reading.

At least, I have a day time job. I dont sit around on a public forum all day like you. Why don't you make yourself useful? Go fix your grand children dinner.

I help traumatized people and consult new citizens who need medical aid.

Change the mentality of people by creating a single thread? Or you are so overwhelmed by those women rights rhetoric of the westerners? Or may be you just want to irritate the majority of the forum members by such disgraceful threads.

I have lived in Kandahar for many years; never seen any bride being dragged into her husband's home. There should be a distinction between 'forced marriage' and 'arranged marriage'.

If you think arrange marriage is actually another form of forced marriage then the victims are not only women.

Yeah there's never been a suicide bombing in Qandahar, the "The Holy Warriors" in Qandahar never murdered civilians, never beat women in the streets, never shot women in a car like a bunch of cowards and then make up some bogus unproven excuse to justify it, never used children to do suicide attacks.

Nothing ever happens because in Qandahar it's a perfect society where women are treated like human beings, women have the right to make decisions about their lives, to decide their future, to get an education, to get medical care, to acquire their own income. All these are granted in a place like Qandahar.

It's only Western propaganda, because only the West re worried about what happens to women, Prophet Muhammad(saw) never condemned 80% of what's prevalent in 80% of Pashtun culture, And of course you've never seen a bride being forced, but wait I thought you're not allowed to look at Namahram women? So Not sure how you would know who is forced or who isn't. I guess maybe Taliban and Taliban supporters have psychic powers

Whatever excuse you need to make to hide and deny problems in your society right?

                1. Forced marriage and rape as we commonly understand it, are quite different.

                2. In Western societies forcing oneself to an unwilling wife is also considered rape.

IT IS rape you freak, there is no western or eastern, rape is coercing sex with someone under any circumstance, there is no equating rape to forced marriages, rape is the product of forced marriages, hence there is a near 1-1 correspondence.

your whole statement is a strawman. your changing the subject. you seem to be blaming the forced or arranged marriage what ever you want to call it on the taliban as well.

first you dont know what the correspondence is, your just guessing.
second, there is a difference how marriage is perceived in the west and east. your looking at it as rape because you grew up with the western perspective. Arranged marriages in the pashtun culture is norm. In the west, drinking before sex is the norm, in pashtun culture that would be regarded as rape. Its different perspective. You are lost.

It is maybe the first time that I agree with RevolutionThroughReason, Faye, and TrueResistence, and with all their posts in this thread.

Let me humbly try to share my thoughts on the topic.

Rape is not only towards females, it is sometimes towards males, so whether it is forced marriage or it is arranged marriage, if the consent from both of the sides has not been taken in a proper manner (under a situation where there is no pressure, fear about one's life, etc. while making the decision), it shall be considered rape, and throughout the marriage life, too. In the case where man thinks that he possesses woman, no matter in the outset of the marriage or during the marriage, this is even worse, since more human rights violations occur. In some countries, Iceland in its peak, woman generally thinks that she possesses her husband. This is an equally bad case. It turns the life of the weak side into hell. It is not only physical abuse that is suffered, but also psycological, since the weak side consistently thinks about his/her broken pride, and is left obliged to live with this. So, it is not the problem of the east only, it is a problem of west too.

Also, it must be beared in mind that the tribal system a few thousands years ago has been built only to direct people in need of advice towards right course, but not to enforce them to something.

I hope I was clear enough.

Forced marriages are unlawful in Islam and the Nikah done under pressure or force is also unlawful. Any child born of forced marriage can be considered a ******* (harmonai).
Arranged marriage is different from forced marriage and the two shouldn't be confused. Arranged marriage with the consent of the girl and the boy is perfectly legal. But even in a legal and non forced marriage there can be rape according to my understanding. Forced sexual intercourse is illegal in Islam even in a legal non forced marriage. It's better to get a divorce than stay in such a marriage.

Trust me on this one it's not a straw an, it's a showcase of the perpetual denial syndrome that yourself and others have, using examples usually given by Taliban apologists (although you swear you're not one) like yourself.

Please educate yourself about what logical fallacies are; I know you get impressed when I use them and like an obnoxious little kid who thinks he can learn Kung Fu by just watching someone on TV do it, you always errantly apply them.
