why should we do community service for so-called needy americans when they have every opportunity to get a freaking job? most homeless americans are addicted to alcohol and drugs and bring the negative situation upon themselves willingly and knowingly. moreoever, there is no need to help and assist a people who voted in support of illegal wars in afghanistan, supporting the killing and destruction of our people.

Was it a unanimous vote for war in Afghanistan?
& actually.. lately, i'm sure it's been very hard for some Americans to get jobs.

It's up to humans to help other humans There should be no barrier when it comes to helping others in a time of need.

they are the same people who supported and rallied for war in afghanistan and iraq back in 2001. i did not meet a single common american against the initiation of war in afghanistan back in 2001. even most afghan-americans were for it. they were all chanting and rooting for it in unanimous approval like some kind of united creed that all thought and acted the same. only now when their soldiers are dying like dogs and their economy is faltering is when a portion of them are beginning to digress from their original views supporting the massacres debauchery persecution and treachery they inflicted upon our land and people. they are not only the most bigoted people who lead lives of wickedness and immorality but their hands are stained with the blood of millions of innocent muslims around the world. why help these stupid and mischievous people? don't waste your precious time gulalai and instead help your own muslims first as they are the ones that are in genuine need.

I personally believe not in giving food and shelter though we (A group of students) do that sometimes, but we usually try to make them able to start earning from themselves. Like we choose the eldest of the family buy vegetables or fruits with a 'Raira' for him from the market and tell him to start selling that. In that way you can make them independent while just by giving them food etc etc you are actually making them dependent on you !!

This is just my thinking or personal suggestion though !!

after my teachers figured out exactly how much i loved the idea of sitting on a desk in a quiet room and facing the wall for one hour four days a week, they decided to make me work with the access students. they are the mentally disabled teenagers. i have been volunteering to work with them on and off for over 5 years now. i can't describe how fulfilling the feeling of watching them get simple tasks done can be. it's like hitting the pause button on life and then looking at everything around you for the first time.

I do community service all the time. I've helped with clothing drives, donations, teaching, cleaning and organizing events at my local Masjid.

At the same time, I've helped with food drives, clothing drives, walks, helped with fund-raising for a local shelter that helps battered women and children get back up on their feet. I've also volunteered my time to helping Autistic children with daily activities, volunteered at nursing homes, to help in anyway that I can. And at work, a co-worker and I organize Blood Drives each year.

Charity/helping people is a large part of Islam. So those of you mentioning that you'd never help "America", then help your own communities. Volunteering for a cause, or doing community service does not mean that you're helping some idiotic red-neck hate on Muslims or Afghans or Pashtuns. There's no reason to hate, even if people hate on you. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Stand above bad influences and show people that you're better than what they perceive you to be. If you don't want to show the world, then simply do good for yourself.
