  • $3 trillion worth of untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan

Afghanistan has long been thought of as more a natural wasteland than a natural resource treasure chest. But after a preliminary study by the US Geological Survey in 2007, Afghan Mines Minister Wahidullah Shahrani recently claimed that Afghanistan has $3 trillion worth of untapped mineral deposits. These untapped resources will have more transformational impacts on Afghan society than a century of military occupation and aid disbursements.

Who do you think will benefit from this 3 Trillian dollars worth of minerals? USA, India or Pashtuns?

Northern Alliance is a group of bandits who used to be jihadis vs russia and later they turned into rapists and plunderers.

so yes it will be when there is negotiations with taliban and the country is at peace.USA have to leave otherwise they will collapse very big time.

northern Alliance should find a place to hide by then, but my suggetion will be to ground them permanently ,excluded from politics and government matters.

Do you actually think Taliban are going to have peace nagotiations with NATO and US? secoundly when there was peace in Afghanistan prior to 9-11 and Taliban were the government of Afghanistan NO COUNTRY recognised them as a offical political movement or a government, dude no country would trade with afghhanistan because of this even general supplies were sanctioned, you think US will let Afghanistan trade $3 Trillion dollars with Japan (a US allie) lol but ok..so your going to wait till Taliban make peace in the country and then form a stable government, you will then irradicate the northern allience by the time this is done Mullah Omar will be trading with Taro Oso in Trillians of dollars??

who said they would negotiate with NAto and USa,i didnt say that.
i said they will negotiate with the governement.
we are now living in a post nineeleven era so what was before was a different story.and the future governement will not be entirly taliban an dit will not be the same as they were before,no educational institutes etc.
now all the ingredients are there only problem is the invading forces.
you say no country will do business with Afghanistan,i dont think you can say no country, maybe america wouldnt but again all of these people need lithium for their futuristic electric cars so they have too.
japan may be american ally but its not their slave and they need resources so do the chinese.eradicating northern alliance means getting the criminal warlords and commanders out of power.

believe me once Afghanistan is independent again they will be begging for it.
            they need us

Who will benefit? Afghans obviously. The question is will all Afghans benefits? Unfortunately, no. If don't we have a proper leadership, the upperclass war lords will this time become billionaires. If Afghanistan gets energetic leaders, sort of like American presidents, Afghanistan can use her benefits for her land.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

there is no place for warlords in the future.
they belong to the past or in the jail.

Well, good luck with implementing that in a war-torn nation. If you, yourself, don't return to Afghanistan with your knowledge, you can't expect uneducated people to do all the leg-work for you.

                    1. Now we have these resources, the invaders will stay even longer.

                    2. Karzai has probably already made a secret deal with America giving them maybe 50% of the resources.

                    3. The taliban should not negotiate, they are winning.

                    4. The whole world knows about the resources, so who ever is in power, other countries will HAVE TO trade with Afghanistan because its their only choice.

                    Good day

Hopefully NOT! I pray the invaders will be given new situations to attract their attention, in such a way as not to harm anyone. But to compel them to drop the whole Afghan project in lieu of better opportunities at home.
For example, huge reservoirs of gold are suddenly discovered in Caspar, Wyoming, much easier to extract than in the mountains of far away Afghanistan. Finally the US is able to return to
the GOLD Standard, as a benefit of this timely discovery.
No one is harmed and the NATO forces exit stage left, at top speed!

                        This rings true. He's a wheeler-dealer.
This could be why Washington hasn't yet dumped him: they fear a future propped up leader who is more loyal to his own country could reneg on that secret bargain.

                        3. The taliban should not negotiate, they are winning.
Absolutely! They shouldn't budge in their stand about this.
It's useless anyway even if they did.
                        Will obtain no results.
Americans are too vested in the myth of fighting Taliban to ever agree to any control of Afghanistan's future by any of their personnel.

"Peace negotiations" are something no one believes in anyway.
Excuse for the US to prolong the war while looking responsible in the eyes of the world as seeking an 'honorable' way out.

That's right about Karzai. One can almost see those angry American exec's rolling their eyes at his balking about various points of their pre-planned agenda for him to implement.

Where did Zalmay Khalilzad go wrong from their point of view?
I thought he is still considered Mr Extra Reliable -
I have a good article about him to post if anyone interested.
