  • helping the poor

ok this is to people who are from kandahar or have visited it, there is new development site called ayno mena and i have say a couple of K on my which i would like to use to help the orphans and the widows on the streets of kandahar, i want to build them houses/flat where they can get a 3 day meal and shelter.

i would preferable like to set up a foundation/charity that does excatly that and i dont want to be in charge of it becouse i dont have the experience to run such things but i would like some 1 to be in charge and help these people and i want to help also.

when i was in kandahar this summer it hurt my heart to see children on the street picking out scraps from the floor to eat and women with 1-2 year old babies coming upto me and begging so i would like to extend a hand out to them and help.

any ideas people on how i can go about this?

thank you all for show of support and enthusiasm and advice. mananaa.

it is hard finding people you can trust, we have an afghan society here in london which is run by kandarian but they mostly focus thier efforts on helping the pashtuns in london becouse thier has been major cases with the afghan embassy being run by non-pashtuns and so when pashtuns would go in thier they would not get any help etc so thier main focus is on people living here so they are out of the question of helping.

what i would like is for admin khan to get involved if possible and for any 1 on this forum who currently resides in kandahar. we will need to make a bank account charity one, and then if possible i will raise funds from the UK while people on this forum who reside in other countries try to raise funds there. when the funds have been accounted for etc then we will need to speak with our counter-part in kandahar to start the work in kandahar.

ofcourse as you can see this is going to need lots of work and i will be needing your help

        manana

I am so glad to hear of the good intentions of people that want to help back home

Sahil, do you have an Islamic or Afghan community near you. Like there is a masjid i have attended since i was 6. And nearly 4 times, they had done tremendous help towards Afghanistan. We did a lot of fundraisers and clothing/toy drives. You can also do it with another community, just the point is getting people to notice it and having an active involvement

I too want to start an active organization in a year or two. And alhamdillullah, i have my parents support....so we will see how it goes

i have a mosque i go to for prayer every fridai and i have been going there last 9 years but its a bangali mosque and the money they round up every fridai goes towards bangladesh only so thats why i am seeking help outside the community.

I have relatives in London, perhaps you can try to create a little network in London first?

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

My uncle is the president of a foundation called - AEF (Afghan Education Foundation). They've set up many projects such as 'Literacy classes for Adults', 'Hospital classes' as well as 'Children At Work' and many more. If you want more info on how to help then here's the link: http://www.aefsite.com/Page_1.php. If you aren't able to help but would like to spread the word then please join the facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Afghan...on/44436534549)

                          Peace

as a matter of fact yes i took on advice by admin khan and some of you here and decided to start small and local

there is a fb group which is called afghan society uk and they hold regular face to face meetings every 1-2 months and i have a freind who is in the leadership of it who make decisions etc and i have put forward the proposal for something like this to be set up but we are having some problems to be honest due to ethnic differences and things, as majority of the leadership is made up of non pashtuns and if such a fund is setup most help will go to the north just like it is right now so we are trying to push for the help to reach the south first. i will update you more on how things go with this

                              GREAT IDEA,count me in
i personally think its better to be independent but have good relationship with such afghan community organisations.last thing you want to do is have this politicised or derailed by ethnic "tensions".
