That's Northern Pakistan, in the administrative region known as Gilgit-Baltistan. A different language in every valley. The area pictured is Gilgit and above (Hunza towards the border with China at Khunjerab). No Baltistan in the pictures, where K2 lies. The people are mostly Shias/Ismailis. Speak shina or burushaski. The Karakorums and Hindu Kush are sub-ranges of the Himalayas.
