  • What I have noticed so far (about Pashtuns)

i was not born in canada but i love it to bits. usa is a completely different story for me. bear the consequences of having spoken the truth now. good luck.
i have recently noticed lots of negative things about pashtuns which i was not aware of before...

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

I am against our foreign affairs but even my Pashtun friends here love the USA. They speak English just like me, they love this country just like me. But some exceptions like DaZahroJaam do apply.

What does DaZahroJaam mean? Is that your name?
Like anything else, its over generalization. I came to USA in my 20's, and call it home and marvel at its achievements. I dont badmouth US for muslim umma glory, and consider US presence in pashtoon land as good (for pashtoons not necessarily americans). But I agree I am a minority amongst pashtoon immigrants.

As far as the second generation is concerned, depends on their upbringing. If they are brought up in a cacooon of supposed islamic piety mixed with deception than bad mouthing USA is considered a birth right, others with more relaxed upbringing dont give a hoot.

mmmhh, You are mistaken here. All immigrants here (whether they be Chaldean, Romanian, Arab, Indian, or Chinese) are here for only money and education. They have effectively created Americas within America.

The initial 'patriots' of this country committed the genocide of the Native Americans. A genocide that is mocked with the upcoming Thanksgiving celebration!!!! Then there is the horrible chapter of slavery. Now, I understand people will say this was the past!!! But how many times, can one keep saying this was the past?

All Pashtuns whether born here or born somewhere else feel just like most other people in the United States. All sensible people in the world strive for social justice.
Speaking of being mistaken, you didnt have to come all the way to usa if money is what you were after.

I'm an immigrant in the U.S., and I think it's the best country in the world. According to my research on American Muslims, over 80% of the people we've interviewed say that America is the best place to practice Islam in and that if anyone disagrees, they should visit other countries, both Muslim and non-Muslim, to see it for themselves.

So, James, I completely disagree with you. I think that the ones who hate America and bash the west are those who have never actually lived here. Those who have tend to see the benefit of life here. Hence, born-Americans and immigrant Americans appreciate and love the U.S., but the outsiders don't. And it's Muslims in general who hate the U.S. Many reasons, of course -- some having to do with America's war on Muslims (Iraq, Afghanistan) and America's strong support for Israel; other reasons have to do with stereotypes more, such as how America treats Muslim minorities. Fortunately, these stereotypes go both ways: Many Muslims outside of the U.S. think America is bad and hates Muslims, and many Americans inside America think that Muslims are bad and hate America.

It also has to do with the west in general and how it's associated with "infidelity" and moral corruption. Some Muslims are programmed to believe that everything America and American is bad and hence un-Islamic and that for a Muslim to associate her/himself with America is to shove her/himself into hellfire.

Even here on PF, which Pashtuns tend to hate America? The ones who are born/raised here or those who've never seen American soil?

And, no, before anyone assumes, I'm not one to convince anyone I love the country that has shaped me more than anything else in my life. But my point is that the generalization is such that the exception isn't that "some immigrant Pashtuns DO love America -- but most don't"; on the contrary, it is that some Pashtun immigrants DON'T love America, as those who have never lived here, but most who've been born or raised here do love or at least appreciate it.

How is it possible that you have more than 15 pashtun friends who were born and brought up in the US .... I can easily say i have absolutely no pashtun friends ... I have met a few maybe 4, who i wasn't related too, but not friends! ...
