are these situations normal? I don't think there is a way that a girl can get out of a situation like this without risking being shunned and outcasted. Its unfortunate, but thats the way it is.

to make a positive change in one's life one must believe in whatever it is they intend on making of it. that step requires you to stop asking others to provide you with solutions to your problems in life. how is a person who does not know you supposed fix your problem? if your own mother who gave birth to you and raised you to be who you are today could not understand you then why do you expect a stranger to know what is best for you?
they are no more appropriate in defining happiness for you than your immediate family members are or were. it is your life. you will be stuck with whatever decision you make. if you have the goodness in you to continue living this pointless life for the sake of the reputation of your family members, then by all means...it has been happening for decades and it doesn't really stop the earth from revolving around the sun...but do know that you will not be doing yourself or him any justice...in a few years to come, your brother will live happily with his wife and children and your sisters with their husbands and children....

why should you be interested in protecting the reputation of some one who is willing to put you in a position to choose between her life or yours? if she is your mother then why does she not understand the pain that you go through? what has this society given you? at the end of the day every one goes on with their own lives. no body cares if you cry yourself to bed every night for the rest of your life.
we all deserve the amount of happiness we are willing to chase... you get to live one life only... don't make it a sorry one.
