what i dont understand is why they make a special exception for us? if a bengali were to settle in some foreign land then 9 generations later his very mixed culturally detached great great great...great grandkids would not be bengali and no one would question it. indians with supposed mughal ancestors dont call themselves kazakhs and uzbeks because they understand that not speaking the language and having bihari upbringing etc makes them not part of that community even though turkics live very close to india and share alot of culture. pathan seems to be the only identity among them that has literally no cultural/ethnic/linguistic basis at all and apparently having that mysterious grandmother from peshawar/kabul/quetta makes you just as psahtun as any pashto speaker. even hindu kapoors whose only connection to us is that their great grandfathers simply lived in the hindko dominated peshawar inner city before moving back to india now call themselves pathan. punjabis who immigrated here and still speak punjabi at home and practice their own religion and only marry within their community who picked up the language from walking around some bazaars are pashtun. ive only ever seen them do this to us because to them a pathan is just someone with khan as a last name or someone who may have an ancestor from a pashtun tribe. they dont seem to think we are an ethnicity but rather treat us as a 'caste' which makes some sense considering pathan is a muslim caste in india but still annoying. another thing is they seem to think anyone from the recently created multiethnic nwfp province is a pathan.

I call bull**** too. She might be an Afghan Hindu, her name is Shilpa, which she pronounces 'Shilpey" to sound more "Pashtun" *cringe*. NO Pashtun girl has that name. Afghan Hindus are Multani Hindus. Ok so she says her elders came from Lorelai in Quetta around 1947, but there was no "mass purge" in Quetta of Hindus, that was in Lahore.Originally posted by Sarbani View PostUber-North Indian looking Indic woman said that she is a Kakar from Quetta. even the interviewer knows she's full of crap by the tone of questions she asks her......the part where she shows her grandmother with shin khal, it's not the same pattern of shin khaloona that Pashtun women get.

Filmmaker goes back to roots, traces history of Hindu Pashtuns : Pashtun
She's made a documentary about these Hindu "Pashtuns." In reality, they're Indian Hindus (I think they're Punjabis specifically) from Quetta. I believe they were brought there to work for Pashtuns (not 100% on this, they could be merchant families instead), and left during the partition of British India. Unfortunately, she somehow got the idea that they actually are Pashtuns rather than people who lived among Pashtuns, even going as far as adopting the Kakar name (though she dropped it in her documentary), and nationalist Pashtuns like Karzai and the VOA folks have foolishly egged them on instead of explaining to them that a Hindu could never be a Pashtun.
By the way, khal patterns aren't universal. I don't know of any Hindu groups that get those tattoos, so the fact that her grandmother has them suggests to me that they really did live among Pashtuns in the past, but that's no excuse to adopt a foreign identity.
Side note: I love how YouTube labels all VOA channels as American propaganda now. Hopefully people treat them with more suspicion now.Last edited by maneatinglizard; 03-13-2018, 06:38 PM.

The "Pathan is a caste not ethnicity in South Asia" is just a poor excuse used by Indians. It may be a caste, but its also treated as an ethnicity at the same time, otherwise Indic so-called "Pathans" wouldn't claim to be the same ethnicity as the Pashtuns of Pashtunistan.Originally posted by kunatawar View Postwhat i dont understand is why they make a special exception for us? if a bengali were to settle in some foreign land then 9 generations later his very mixed culturally detached great great great...great grandkids would not be bengali and no one would question it. indians with supposed mughal ancestors dont call themselves kazakhs and uzbeks because they understand that not speaking the language and having bihari upbringing etc makes them not part of that community even though turkics live very close to india and share alot of culture. pathan seems to be the only identity among them that has literally no cultural/ethnic/linguistic basis at all and apparently having that mysterious grandmother from peshawar/kabul/quetta makes you just as psahtun as any pashto speaker. even hindu kapoors whose only connection to us is that their great grandfathers simply lived in the hindko dominated peshawar inner city before moving back to india now call themselves pathan. punjabis who immigrated here and still speak punjabi at home and practice their own religion and only marry within their community who picked up the language from walking around some bazaars are pashtun. ive only ever seen them do this to us because to them a pathan is just someone with khan as a last name or someone who may have an ancestor from a pashtun tribe. they dont seem to think we are an ethnicity but rather treat us as a 'caste' which makes some sense considering pathan is a muslim caste in india but still annoying. another thing is they seem to think anyone from the recently created multiethnic nwfp province is a pathan.
Indics that claim ancestry from non-Pashtun foreigners (e.g. Arabs, Mughals, etc) only claim that their tribe/caste's patriarch was an Arab, Persian, etc. They don't go around LARPing as those ethnic groups (rare exceptions exist) whereas Pashtuns are an ehnicity whose identity they straight up try to hijack.
Also, I often see some "self-critical" Indics try to claim their ethnicity has a problem with Arab wannabeism (especially Pakistani Punjabi liberals & ex-Muslims) simply because Syeds claim an Arab patriarch, but these same people get super defensive if you call them out on their Pashtun wannabeism.Last edited by Sarbani; 03-13-2018, 08:23 PM.

They're not universal but they're pervasive. Berber and Bedouin women have them too. There was also a guy here named 'havizsultan' who started adopting the pashtun ethnicity and culture the time he found out that his great-grandmother had a friend whose grandmother knew somebody who knew a pashtun. Don't know what happened to him but he ain't showed up again.Originally posted by Sarbani View PostUber-North Indian looking Indic woman said that she is a Kakar from Quetta. I found out about him when I came across him on PF after some googling a few years back. Was about to post about him.Originally posted by Elias View PostThere was also a guy here named 'havizsultan' who started adopting the pashtun ethnicity and culture the time he found out that his great-grandmother had a friend whose grandmother knew somebody who knew a pashtun. He's such a typical Indian muhajir. I bet he got a lamb butchered and prepared a feast in celebration of finding out about his alleged Pashtun ancestor.
I saw some of his posts where he was trying to justify his wannabeism by saying stuff like "I know more about Pashtun history and culture than you do so I'm just as much if not more of a Pashtun than you" lmao. He'd also say stuff like he's light-skinned and can pass as a Pashtun.
He also made a post on here cause he was writing some book on Pashtuns and he was looking for advice from Pashtuns.

Bengal Tiger was also another Indic who was "soft" appropriating Pashtun culture. He had another ID that he used as a "feeler" account to see what Pashtuns would say, where he bold faced claimed his ancestors were Pashtuns from Sher Shah Suri's time (*cringe*) and he posted a picture of his dad and asked if he would pass for Pashtun lol but looked like a typical Bengali guy....and then I railed him for having a wannabe complex ....
So then he comes back as "Bengal Tiger" and tries to play up some imaginary "brotherhood" and historical "bond" Pashtuns had with Bengalis ...and that our cultural habits and lifestyles were almost the same ...the guy was delusional and also spent a lot of his time Putin Fanboy-ing.
He also tried the whole "I'm an honest and decent Muslim brother" angle when he came here, but then started flirting with "MixxedPashtana" who at the time he didn't know was actually one of Black Pakistani's sock accounts. lol
He finally left when I found his Twitter page where he posted links to Porn sites and such. Creepy.Last edited by Iblis_Efreetzai; 03-14-2018, 04:11 PM.

majority of Hilly Rajputs are the product of these cross breeding and want to disassociate with their past. rajputs with rajwadi surnames consider themeselves superior but those native kings who look darker gets mocked as "gola" (mix breed, son of rakhile) so they actually invite light skinned rajputs and kshatriya tribes from Jammu region such as jamwals to sleep with their women so that their wives can give birth to pure white looking Native Child.
