  • About to discover who Indus Valley people were

In about a months time there will be major news in archeology, who were the people of indus valley civilzation? this will be answered. DNA and genetics tests are currently being conducted on their ancient skeletons for the first time and results will published in about a month

The article: Who built the Indus Valley civilisation? - The Hindu

^ This will answer few major questions, were these people aryans or not? or were they ancient west asian farmers who settled on Indus or were they ancient indians related to first out of africa population that was in India for more then 50,000 years (ancestral south indians)

This is one of the most exciting news for south asian history! cant wait. I love science

Good for you ...we're not an Indus Valley forum however.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Pashtuns in pakistan are a indus valley population. This is why their genetics are more indic

we don't see it that way, and don't have much cultural affiliation with you. Maybe you should go to a forum that is better suited for you than keep returning to a place that clearly doesn't welcome you here?

Nobody is talking about culture. Im talking about genetics and history. Many pasthuns in Pakistan are indics which were pashtunized

I secretly hope for it to be something 'J' so that the whole sub-continent shuts up.

Expand. What do you mean? J haplogroup? That would mean they were west asian farmers. Which is one theory listed there

It would refute the out of India theory (or at least be yet another blow to it) peddled by Hindu nationalists, as well as the “IVC people were our ancestors and separate from India” claims that self-hating Punjabis desperate to distance themselves from their Indic brethren make.

Basically it would trigger every self-hating Indic, which would be pretty funny.

Though I personally suspect they were Dravidians (or closely related to them).

By the way, the article itself isn’t great quality. It makes some factual errors, like claiming that IVC was the largest civilization at its time, or that r1a is present in high percentages across Europe (it’s actually less common in most of Western Europe than it is in India), and seems to be trying to diminish the value of whatever discoveries are eventually made, as if to preemptively soften the blow to the legions of genetics nerds that will inevitably get triggered no matter what the results are. Also, the description of the Indian scientists screwing up samples because they kept them out too long makes them sound majorly amateur hour lol. There are a lot of good scientists in India, but the guys working on historical and archeological research always come across as ignorant people with agendas, which is unfortunate.

This Kaarachi like most Indians is so desperate to link Afghanis with Indians. Its funny.

I dont get why Indians have such a hard on for you guys tbh. The difference between Afghanis and Indians is like Africans and Swedes. Like day and night. There is no way so different people can have formed any society lol, except one of slave race master race society. The caste system in the subcontinent is perhaps the perfect example.

This time he wants to "reverse" associate, he wants Afghans to be Indians

Guy is a fruitcake, we have records of him claiming he had Pashtun ancestory and now he wants to flip 180, The inferiority complex he has is enormous.

Three international universities are involved in the study of these samples and the results will be published in "Nature" which is an American publication. So doesn't matter what the idiot nationalists claim. Science will tell truth.

And yes I also suspect they will turn out to be the original dravidian people, since the samples are 4600 years old, well before the indo aryans came in to the picture. But anything can happen. Will wait and see. Really excited about this! been waiting for years

Most Indians are basically rape products of that. Whole Indian identity is bull****. Its like Africans taking pride in their colonial past.
Who is claiming Afghanistan as Indian? When did I say that? Im talking about the many pashtuns of Pakistan, who clearly show high percentage of Indian genes, Im only talking about them. Afghans genetically are much different from indics, afghans are a mixture of central asian, mongolian, west asian and some south asian

The “south Indian” component that showed up in high amounts in older genetic studies is actually a West Asian component that was being mislabeled since it shows up in Dravidians. That’s what the general consensus seems to be today. The problem was that we didn’t actually have ancient South Asian DNA, so all you could really see is similarities, not origins. A significant Indic component in Pakistani Pashtuns doesn’t make sense, because most KP Pashtuns are relative newcomers to the area, having migrated there from Afghanistan. So unless there was some massive wave of mixing with the Indic natives (and there’s no evidence for this), the Pakistani Pashtun population should be quite similar to the Afghan one.

I mean, the Indic group Pashtuns usually have highest on their oracles are Sindhis, which make zero sense until you realize that that’s actually because of our close relation to Balochis, and that some Balochis have likely migrated into and assimilated into the Sindhi population.

The historical pattern of migration is into India, not out of it. So the majority of the genetic affinity between some Indic groups and Pashtuns is likely caused by Pashtun and Pashtun-like groups migrating and assimilating into the Indian populace, not the other way around. Not just the Indo-Aryans, but later migrations as well.

This new DNA might shed better light on the question. We’ll see.

Also, if you are referring to Pashtuns when you say Afghan, we don’t have an affinity with Mongolians. Most Tajiks don’t either.
