Checking for biases. Then finally there is META-ANALYSIS , different independent studies on the same subject which either create a consensus of results to affirm the theory or show there is disparate understandings of the cause.

In the end, the level of bias a rigorous study has done is statistically so low, it's effectively 0. Not all research passes this test, but that's why this system is in place. to make us aware of dodgy research and claims. This isn't one of them.

This is a sharp jump between analyzed research and people's confirmation bias. Confirmation bias is an issue, but that's dealt with already within science.

Your knee-jerk rejection is also a manifestation of bias.

Yes they do, but they become more compounded through frequent consanguinity. That's the problem. Consanguinity doesn't "cause" the illness it compounds it and makes it more likely to occur.

How likely depends on many factors, but something done over and over, again and again, for generations and generations will make something likely to happen. It's a statistical law.

Firstly, please stop mindlessly tossing around the phrase "inferiority complex". Results from biology are not "inferiority complexes". Y

Especially, in this case, you crying "inferiority complex" is a defense mechanism, which ironically is rooted in an inferiority complex. How's that for irony?

The more sensible response is follow Khushal's approach and examine other factors that contribute to the incidence of birth defects and have a panoramic analysis.

Well clearly we should go to Modern Kharijis to learn things from, because we all know their reputation for UNBIASED and OBJECTIVE information.

Criticism about a public health issue doesn't make someone a coconut. I guess making sure women have qualified doctors for reproductive health, so they don't die in child birth or develop ovarian cancer, irregardless of whether they're male or female makes someone a coconut too?

Shamlawar, stick to giving lectures on the importance of using a Miswak over going to school and the travesty that men don't roll up their pant legs.
Allot of hot air from a guy who probably read a basic text science like those minions of Sam Harris.

Fact is, your views and beliefs about marriage betalen cousins dont stem from your genuine concern for Well beings of people after thoroughly studying the matter.

For self loathing brown people who only accept white peoples arguments in discussions about science, I recommend this book by Alan Bittles: Consanguinity in Context | Biological Anthropology and Primatology | Cambridge University Press

Bittles doesn't reject serious health concerns of marrying cousins. Instead he shows how a myriad of other factors contribute to certain health problems and explains how these problems may be caused.

I'd rather study a thorough research by a proper expert than accept the arguments of a self loathing brown person like you and Khostai who reference islamophobes as a source.

Sam Harris is an Atheist polemicist. He doesn't address science as much as the techniques employed to give it rigor. He just takes it on fact and uses that to discredit religion.

As for your link, the claim here isn't that consanguinity in itself causes defects, but that repeatedly passing down a trait that is susceptible to these defects, will increase the likelihood of these defects emerging,

Some consanguinity can be just fine, especially if it hasn't been done repeatedly for several generations. But if it's a repeated cultural norm, it will by simple statistics lead to greater incidence of it happening.

Has nothing to do with white, brown ...whatever little defensive prattle you're pushing. It's simply mathematics.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Sam Harris' followers believe in science without really knowing what science is.

That's what I see when I see how respond to whatever I have to say in this thread.

and neither do you, you seem to think scientists haven't thought about the confirmation bias issue and just went on their way. Nope. they tackled that already, long ago.

You're ideologically motivated, not a sound platform to rely on really.

Cousin marriage among Tajiks is as common as among Pashtuns. Many of my relatives married their cousins. Thanks God so far none of them had kids with health problems. My parents are not cousins but "bigoneh" (I have been told Indians call it "hajnawi").

I have always criticized it. I know some couples whose dads are brothers just like their mothers are sisters. Thats like f*cking marrying your own brother/sister!!!!

Spoken (or rather typed) like someone from the West- although you probably weren't born in the West.

You're wrong there mate. I still fail to see how marrying your first cousin is like marrying your brother or sister-the spouses are not born from the same parents. I still don't understand your reasoning. Then again I suppose this is something that you may never accept.

Inbreeding does not always affect one's sanity, intelligence or health; it increases one's chances of being affected in those terms. But then, so does alcohol abuse, smoking like a chimney and addiction to otc drugs. Why is the consumption of these things not forbidden or considered taboo for people in the west?? Not to forget, first cousin marriages were pretty common in the west up until the early 1800s, no?

Well I must say that when I said "its disgusting practice" I went too far but I will never approve it. I can't just blindly follow something that I don't like.

So one minute Rooh _Khar-rang rants about being Good Muslims, and that there's no racism between Muslims , but thinks that by making foul remarks about Tajiks, that Pashtuns will come to his aid.

No, dead wrong. a Creepy Weird guy from Punjab, that talks Islam from one mouth and bestiality out the other gets none of my sympathy.

haha. Next you will say in your family you all stop farting after 4 or 5 years of age.

your cousins are closely related to you and like brothars and sisters. even animals dont breed with their brothars and sisters.

Haha you clearly failed in biology i guess. Altho im not really for cousin marriages and **** like that its not uncommon for animals to mate with their siblings and its also one of the reasons animals leave there family after a certain age(i guess white people move outa there houses after 18 because of the same fear of ending up ****ing their mother or some **** hahaha)
