Special Ops isn't teaching self defense though, special ops is combat training, meaning to put them on the front lines, combat missions.

Aisha(ra) never participated in war, but she did inaugurate battles, like Battle of Jamal. That's not the same as sending women out to deal with Taliban.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Nothing wrong with that. If they are good soldiers, then I find it great. If they are not good soldiers and all this is just monkey business, then I agree with you.

You don't put the most vulnerable people of your society on the Frontlines. This will just add fuel to the fire.If Talibs capture them they'll do even worse things I'm sure.

Sure there might be some women who might be able to ensure the strains of such tasks, but most would not.

30 kidnapped by isis in khugyani, including women and children. They were not kidnapped from the frontline, they were kidnapped from their homes where their non coward husbands and brothers did not put them in danger by teaching them how to fight back.

I guess sometimes **** just happens..

Afghan women are not only making progress in Afghanistan's military but also excelling in other sectors of society like education, politics, business, economics, and health.

I guess this was a response to me. You're mixing up two different scenarios. One is where you put women on the front lines to fight your battles, another is teaching women to fight in the event that all else fails. They're not identical.

why should it get to the point where all else fails?? Why should they wait for everything else to fail before excreting their right to defend themselves, families, homes or country??

In a country where 6 year old females are wed off to 60 year old men, waiting for else to fail before taking action should be no less than a crime. This wait for men to protect you norm has been going on to thousands of years. It has not protected anyone. Men don't protect their sisters, daughters or wives. Killing the person who has raped your daughter or sister does not undo her pain or the crime, it helps your ego and settles the score. There is nothing brave about the current system of how our men protect their women. To protect them would be to take preventative measures. Allowing them to sit on their assed and wait for someone else to protect them has proved not to be a very successful preventative measure.

You sit back while I take care of business is not a way of commending anyone on their skills. It's telling them you are better than them and when you do that, you are not brave.

You saw my comment when I made it. You bothered yourself to acknowledge it now because you are that bored.

Well if you want women to be killed more often, then I guess your reasoning makes sense. Why not just make them cannon fodder, I mean they're being sold off at 6 years of age, May as well right?

I mean sure training women to be killed on the fronlines won't make any effective difference with 6 year olds being married off, but it's a comforting thought. And that's what we really need, some cosmetic hoorah for women's rights and a bunch of decapitated women in the hands of ISIS. Congratulations all around.

Dying with dignity is better than living the life of a stray dog. It's the symbolic gesture that is going to change mentalities. Telling them to sit back while we take care of business is the sort of mindset that enables men in to marrying their daughters off to 60 year olds.

Nothing says dignity more than an ISIS beheading......oh let's not forget being "takfir"d on and thus enabling ISIS to rape them before said beheading. This is clearly a better fate.

You know what is a good idea?? Not being a coward when you accuse others of being cowards for doing something that is going to buy them "better fate" in the long run rather than a momentary security in life. I believe if 100 people die for the sake of a good cause, societies can benefit in future. If they run here and there from fear of Isis and whatnot, they may live 5 or ten years more but there won't be much of a future for them or their next generations.

Clearly you don't know **** about dignity. Good day.

We're not talking about standing down against ISIS, we're talking about NOT throwing women out to them to be massacred and raped.

you know who else uses this line of reasoning? ISIS

They are not dogs that you are throwing them at Isis. Are the male cadets thrown at Isis?? No. Because you genuinely believe that women regardless of how well trained or prepared for these situations they might be, are essentially useless. The frontline is not defined in Afghanistan. Isis members in Afghanistan are not all men only.
