It was a prestige to "defeat" the British, not that he didn't embrace their secular way of thinking. The defeat and its embellishment was to make right what he probably think his kingdom was wronged. This was a new time when a secular thinking leader could be at odds with its secular master or former master. There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Your religious bias is clouding your judgment about him. The thing is, he was anti-British because of nationalistic reasons not religious reasons. Amanullah was influenced by Mahmud Tarzi's literature, who was his father-in-lawOriginally posted by Shamlawar Khurasani View PostI dont know. I have the feeling Amanullah Khan's anti British stance was just an act. I mean he was Atta Turks follower.

Shamlawar's Theory of Everything.
No matter what the subject, if shamlawar doesn't like someone, he kicks the floor like a 3 year old and screams "they are wrong, they are wrong, they are wrong!"
And if their actions or evidence present suggests otherwise , it's because they are "pretending" to be good.

As a matter of fact, who needs to check the sky to see whether it's still night or morning. We should just send a special little offering of olive oil for his beard and wait for him to bless us with his version of reality instead.

It is a non-issue that will solve nothing, for Pakistan though it is extremely vital to bring a legislative house to the tribal agencies and declare it a province or merge it into KPK. Pakistan needs further division of provinces as the current setup is very inadequate in terms of resource allocation and management.
@On topic - Afghanistan needs a direction, it needs an objective. As an outsider following steps provide a rough roadmap.
1. Unity within the current government to move forward "together" on all issues.
2. Engage Taliban under a cease-fire with both US and Pakistan on-board. The commitment to Pakistan being that Afghans wont allow Indian proxies on its soil and the issue of Durrand will be settled. The promise to Americans that Taliban will no longer pursue any attacks against Americans and its allies but they will have to leave Afghanistan and end occupation.
3. Reach a political settlement with the Taliban through the points above. Give them political representation but also negotiating with them to abandon some of the things that made them infamous among Afghans.
None of these will happen though as the central government is extremely weak and divided. The Taliban grow bolder by the day and especially now they can sense an american retreat if not now then in a few years they will give up less and less on the negotiating table. The afghan government will keep on trying to survive by bartering national assets, independence and interest to US and its allies and this civil war will keep on getting worse. It's enough that I know, Our time had a home, In your heart..Was a place..But the glass always breaks..
