He was called Rumi because he went to Turkey which at that time was called Rum

I don't give a rat's ass about that subject. A wise man is a wise man. Ain't got nothin to do with where he come from or who his folks be...
I was just trying to get those losers out of my thread.

I have read the 6 volumes of mathnawi Maulana Rum. Great books to read. He was not called Rumi because of the Rome of Italia but because of Turkey as pointed out correctly by Brown Savage.

^ you have also studied osho and are a big admirer of him. I believe that cancels out everything and brings you back to square one.

Osho and Rumí both are Sufis.Osho is inspired very much from Rumí. A spiritual confluence.
              Google Osho on Rumi

don't apply the glass to the water. rumi was not inspired by osho. osho claimed to have been inspired by rumi. there is a world's worth of a difference in that. crediting osho for that claim would be like taking 10 steps back from the direction of a goal.

1.Pashtuns and Persians call him Jelaluddin Balkhi because he was born in Balkh, then part of Afghanistan, on 30 Sep 1207. His family fled to Konya, Turkey between 1215 and 1220 fleeing the invading Mongols. Thereafter he has been called Rumi which means belonging to Roman Anatolia.
                    2. Only after centuries of intellectual exploration and explanations have we begun to understand this great sufi saint. Any study of Rumi will be invalid without dwelling on his relationship, friendship and discourses with Shams Tabriz.

                      He was from Balkh, Afghanistan.

Lets just say I turn out to be the genius of the century, Afghans will claim I was from Afghanistan as I was born there. but British will claim I am British because I have studied and been brought in Britain.
By blood, we are immersed in love of you.
The youth lose their heads for your sake.
I come to you and my heart finds rest.
Away from you, grief clings to my heart like a snake.
I forget the throne of Delhi
when I remember the mountain tops of my Afghan land.
If I must choose between the world and you,
I shall not hesitate to claim your barren deserts as my own.

Rumí born centuries before Osho. I said Osho was inspired by Rumí.

In Sufism and spiritualism as well as mysticism there is always no need of ijaza from Tariqa. There is Sufism which is not religious or Islámic.

if i go and choke someone tomorrow and upon being tossed in jail, i tell the officials that i was inspired by you, would that mean that you too are a criminal just because i said i was inspired by you?? NO, IT WOULDN'T.

SO WHY SHOULD OSHO BE A PHILOSOPHER JUST BECAUSE HE CLAIMS TO BE INSPIRED BY RUMI??

you are such a ****ing idealist. i bet you believe in unicorns, too.

Who cares where he was from? He was a sodomite who pimped his own children to shams tabrizi. Only people who love child molesting and homosexuality admire him.
