Actually Sufi Islam has been very involved politicaly too. IN fact one of the reasons Attaturk targeted the Sufi Brotherhoods was because the political and social power they yielded. For example Said Nursi was a popular Sufi Ulama who had profound influence in Turkish politics; in fact his works are the foundation of influence for Turkish Islamic reivalism. He was a Sufi from the Qadiri Order.

Badlun religion is being anti-islam/anti-muslim. Just like the rest of the islamophobes, they have built a religion just to attempt to degrade islam. They have no logic, no sence of purpose. Their whole life is attempting to attack muwahiddens.
Badlun uses his so-called love for Sufis as a red herring fallacy,

Badlun coming from Muslim roots, is an original Coconut. nothing more, probably less.

Badlun's reference to Sufis seems to be coming from the popularization of books by Rumi among pseudo-intellectual Westerners. They seem to be fixated on trying to Portray Rumi and other Sufis as "Laxed" Muslims who were who were liberal and rebelled/ignored standard Muslim values and laws.

Things like References to "wine" are construed as a license to drink alcohol. When in actuality "wine" is a metaphoric reference to Divine Ecstasy.

While there were/are some personalities who could be described as "Loose" who try to affiliate themselves with Sufism......THE REALITY is ...even the Most Controversial Sufi Personalities .....like Bayazid Bistami or Mansur Al Hallaj were known for Praying Hundreds of Rak'ats of nafl , living an austere life, ate food very minimally, avoided worldly pleasures and definitely abstained from sex except for procreation.

Their lifestyle was actually much, much stricter than what is required for Muslims and possibly even going to extremes according to Islamic prescriptions. Now compare this to Osho, who used to manipulate his followers into letting him sleep with their wives, Lived in a Mansion, had million dollar states, drove a Rolls Royce.

This is a man that Badlun endorses, yet we can see how shallow minded and driven by base appetites he was when compared to Authentic Sufis like Mansur Al-Hallaj, who was killed for saying "Ana'l Haqq". In reality people like Badlun are probably completely ignorant about Real Sufism and seem to believe that Sufism provides a perfect Cover/Disguise to Hide behind in their drive to Diminish Muslim values while Pretending to be Muslims.

My point of disagreement is that it does not mean a religious person should be a politician. This is secularism. A politician can be religious but not that only religious person can be politician or economist or judge as claimed by Islamists like Taliban or IS. For them a Mullah should be the administrator, politician, caliph and everything.

I also agree that for a good person, it is not necessary that one should be a Muslim, or Hindu or Buddhist. I even go beyond that even an atheist can be a good person. i do not hate islam . I love Sufi Islam but not the Islam of Taliban, Al Qaeda, IS, Tableeghi Jamaat. Ikhwans or others of the kind. Their Islam is not Islam but Islamism.
how can a concept affect something ethically but not "functionally"?? how does the opposite of "ethical" become moral?? why would you want to endorse that?? a politician can be religious but a religious person can't be a politician?? are you sure you are not mixing up your skepticism of rationality and the concept of time travel??
it's very necessary that a person should have a very clear definition of morality. you don't have that. an obsolete foundation of virtue does not lead one to enlightenment or cultivation in any book of reason, religion or rectitude.

on a totally unrelated subject.. the kind of faults and ignorances that are deemed beautiful and are the sources of inspiration in books of poetry are those that are stemmed from honesty. a dishonest or manipulated display of a confusion leads one to a self made prison that is nearly impossible to break through.
you are a liar and you know it.
