If anyone thinks I am lying then:

a: He lived in Ealing in west London a few years back.

b: In the late 1990s he was briefly married to a "Kalash"/Nuristani girl (Muslim though) which didn't work out.

    c: His initials are W.S.

That is as far as I will go, though I have no contact with him now and have not had for years.
I had a colleague who was from Bangladesh, he was a nice guy and we got along well. I forgot his name though.

I have not read 1001 nights, is it worth reading?

It is unfortunate that I forgot the name of my Bangladeshi colleague. I live in the US.

Bengal_tiger, have you read Scheherazade's favorite book, A Tale of Two Cities?

                No I haven't.

So I take it from your avatar you're a female?

If you are that's great as it would be nice to see female participation in the forum as was the case in the early days of this forum, though some trolls drove the ladies away.

I have not read a single story by Charlie Dickens. I remember seeing a TV movie based on The Tale of Two cities but I forgot it now.

Tell me, what made you decide to join an Afghan forum? Do you have an Afghan boyfriend/girlfriend? I'm always interested to know why foreigners are interested in Afghan discussions.

I joined my first Pashtun forum 8 years back. The site no longer exists it was called Pashto.org and the forum was called "Chaikhaana". Later in 2008 I joined Khyberwatch where I was requested/invited to join this forum by Pir Rokhan and Shayesta (an Afghan ex-moderator here). I'm actually the 5th oldest active member here as far as I know, could be wrong.

                      1st Admin Khan
                      2nd Tor Khan

both March 2010, the founding month.

                      3rd Torkham, also March 2010

4th Badlun (April 2010 I think, a week or two before me)
                      5th me
6th Gadoonwal who joined a few days after me.

You can check our profiles and see the dates.

So I'm older than most active members here. Many of the old members have left including Nokia Apridey, Pakhtunzai, Mahzala, Dukemina and many others.

I'm definitely the oldest non-Pashtun member here.

I did take a 2 year break from this forum though.

I am alleged to have distant Pashtun ancestry (could be totally false) but I have seen a qualitative difference between Pashtuns (not the Punjabized/Pakistanized ones, but more rural ones) and former Hindu Punjabis. Though this may see a somewhat unpleasant or overly political thing to say. You must remember my people were on the receiving end of one of the most horrific genocides in history, so it's not just academic. Pashtuns are qualitatively a better people than their Indic neighbours to the east. If anyone thinks I'm ass-kissing or whatever than there was a Libyan member here who used to post (Mahmoud or something) who joined the forum because he met some simple honest Pashtuns whose character and upright behaviour impressed him. Yes, I know Pashtuns are not perfect (badal, swara etc) but nor are Bengalis.

Part of the reason I post here is to reciprocate solidarity with Pashtuns that Pashtun nationalists showed us Bengalis in 1971 e.g. one former follower of Bacha Khan (rahmatullahi 'alaih) fought with Bengalis against the Pakistani army, as he was disgusted by the atrocities. The man's story was really tragic and moving when I read about it a few years ago as after the war he ended up in difficulties.

Anyway sorry for a somewhat overly politicized response but you did ask, and I am a very politicized person.

However I also have a good sense of humour and can talk about "cool stuff" too.

                          Bengal_Tiger:

Thank you for such a detailed response. I'm aware that many Pashtuns or as they call them Pathan in India live and have lived in Bengal and the region around that state. Your Pashtun ancestry could be factual.

I'm always keen to talk with intelligent people who have a sense of humor. How about you share with me a typical Bangladeshi joke. :-)

                            1. I personally don't care if I have Pashtun blood or not. It doesn't make any difference in terms of religion, job prospects or anything. I look totally like a Bengali.

                            2. I don't have any Punjabi jokes but a few days ago a friend sent me this on Whatsup.

You don't have to understand French (I don't) to find it funny.
