I like Khyber TV and Shamshad. My choice is not based on that who is running it or in which city it has its headquarters but on the quality of information and entertainment they present. Khyber has one problem that it uses lots of Urdu and English words and terms in its Pashto programs.

We must appreciate any one of these as in these days when no one works for Pashto language at least they do something and something is better than nothing althu the ideal is everything but there is always room for improvement if a thing already exists in any shape. 10 is always better than 0 but the best is 100.

I like Shamshad and lmar tv, but I have one complaint about Shamshad tv. They air Pashto dramas made in Occupied Pakhtunkhwa. All these dramas and music are not native to pashtuns. The music is a cheap imitation of the inferior Punjabi music and the themes of all dramas are vulgar and just low quality remake of ptv dramas.

All friends of Azad Afghanistan are warned that AVT khyber is intended to send wrong signals to them about the people of Occupied Pakhtunkhwa, to mislead you and create doubts in your minds about the Pashtun of occupied Pakhtunkhwa. AVT even courages its compares and participants to use distorted pashto. I hate to watch this channel.

It is better to watch Iranian movies than Pashto dubbed Pakistani/Punjabi movies.

I used to watch PTV for its "mayareeee dramey" and other programmes....but then Hindko was given more time than pashto on PTV.....i still used to watch old pashto dramas on PTV National ......
When AVT khyber came we used to watch it....All the artists from pukhtunkhwa joined it but soon they realized that these punjabeeee owners were only getting money on the name of Pashto television....the punjabi owners of this Channel were even caught red handed in dubai ...."da pukhtano musafaro na ye da pukhto pa num chanda(paisey) ratololey" ......they mixed urdu with pashto.....in the begining most of the renewned pashto artists joined it....but soon they were dissapointed a few artists of them who left it were "Sardar Ali Takkar"(who was music director there), Firdous Jamal, the famous PTV Actor of Urdu dramas....Syed Rehman sheeno.....Gulzaar alam ....Sarwat shaheen....and others.....they were paid very little although the punjabi owners of the channel got a lot of money and advertisements from the pashtun mass of the province for promoting pashtun talent and culture......
As far as my opinion is concerned i have voted for "Shamshad TV" it is a nice channel...and most of the above mentioned pashtun artists leaving Khyber have now joined Shamshad Tv....

Dear friends, I have no access to any of these TV channels, however when I was in pakistan then I had access to AVT khyber and also someitmes to PTZV national and also PTv pashto programms.

Drama serials, Like Jannan, Meem zar Ma, Khanadan, sargardan, asman and their quality of acting and dialogues are not comparable. But blood of great writers like Noor ul bashar naveed, Azam Khan Azam, and other such great poets and writers was included. Same goes to PTV national Pashto programms.

However, AVT khyber Channels started following other punjab cultured based TV channels just to bring a charm, however also brought some new programms, regarding terrorism, and some social problems, but did not do the extent to which they could do.

The matter of that its owner is a Punjabi, is a lam excuse. He started it because no pashtun was coming forward to have such a risk, therefore cursing him is not a good attitude. We should appreciate him and he started it for making money, however our anchors and writers actors should promote its standadrd. He cannot do this for us deras.

ABout Shamshad and Lemar I will not say anything as I did not watch these two. But I have herad form a friend that Shamshad is getting better day by day.

Our prayers are with them all to promote the culture and language of Pashtuns.
                          Long live Pasthuns .

Some times hatered for some thing as here for Pakistan makes some one so much subjective, prejudiced, biased and irrational that even they go to the extreme to prefer Iranian movies but not Pashto movies.

We can instead criticize the quality of Pashto movies and Pashto programs of AVT or PTV and can suggest how can we improve it. At the ame time we should admit the fact the Pashto movies are only makde in Pashtunkhwah and not in Afghanistan. If some one is satisfied with the quality or the motives of these TV programs or movies then may present better ones to compete with the bad ones.

Afghanistan may also make better Pashto movies which will be then followed by Pashtun directors and producers from Pashtunkhwah. The problem is that movies are made what the public demand as after all they make movies for business. What Pashtuns prefer to watch will be made by the producers and investors.

There are some very great classic Pashto movies too like Yousaf Khan Sher bano which can be watched with families and which are really inspiring and impressive. Pashto comedy and other serials are also good but may avoid using Urdu words so they become popular in Afghanistan too.

Shamshad TV is better than AVT Khyber for all the reasons stated in previous postings. They haven't started producing dramas or documentaries and pick up some dramas from PTV (Peshawar) I think.

We are low on Pashto-language documentaries.

And one thing I don't understand is why Shamshad sometimes shows tired old Steven Segal films dubbed in Pashto, but you can still hear the English underneath.

Pashto films are a joke, but I'm sure there will be the odd Pashto film that is better than the rest (probably an earlier one) that could get an airing.
