  • Dear sister, if you did not notice it yourself, why does it bother you.
Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:

[61:8] They desire to extinguish the light of Allah with the breath of their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers hate it.

[61:9] He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it.

It didn't bother me -- until it was brought to my attention. Yes. I just don't understand why anyone would do that! What're they tryina prove to themselves? I guess it's what we call syaali, competing wither others thinking you can do better than them or something

I think we are all guilty of this. I am pretty sure that you got your colours from someone else who got it from someone else...so on and so forth.

The Prophet (saw) has said that anything good is the lost treasure of a believer--wherever you find it, take it!

What? How's this in any way similar to writing poems in the exact same style, theme, and even words as someone else, someone you claim to "hate"?

Like I said, I feel honored that someone found my work beautiful enough to copy it and adopt as their own in such a way, BUT it still doesn't make sense why someone can't be creative enough to be her/himself (I know who I'm talking about, and I know how they are; their style and themselves never resembled mine before -- but now all of a sudden they do!).

              Copyright is a modern fallacy.

Human beings are not creative. They copy nature right out. They are the biggest forgers.

              • ^ Well, I can't even accuse them of copyright since they didn't take my poems verbatim! If they do that, however, they're going to meet the end of their fate, lol. I can be as vicious as the most vicious person on earth -- although all my close friends will tell you I'm friendlier than the friendliest person on earth when I'm friendly!

But, yeah. It's just, if this person and I were cool and if she/he had acknowledged my work or my right to my own creativity (speaking of which, humans ARE by nature very creative -- look at kids! Could anything get more creative than them? They're REALLY a miracle!), I'd be fine with it. But it's ... this person is in a competition with me that I'm not participating in (this is not suspicion; it's a fact that many others have noticed as well), so that's what makes me say ... it grinds my gears

Fortunately, not ENOUGH to make me get angry about it, though. I refuse to give anyone power over me to make me unhappy

                • I think it's about time I start posting in the Random Thoughts thread since I'm just being random now. . . . There, we don't have to be on topic or anything, right? Since there's no topic ... and we can say whatever we want even if it doesn't make sense to anyone else, since it's just random? ... Wow, I never knew how to appreciate it. Now I do.

                        • Qrratugai: How can poetry be copied or be syaali? Inspired, maybe, but poetry isn't something someone has to sit for hours to produce. It is the result of pain in most cases, and rolls of the poets tongue. In saying that, every poet is inspired by one another. The more you read, the more you want to write. Themes don't have someone's name written on them. Proving oneself, to who? Poetry is most often written to express oneself, for one's self which often tells a story, issues a command, or reiterates commands. So more often than not, it is written not to prove yourself to someone, but to use this creative mechanism to communicate our feelings to people who won't appreciate them otherwise.

There's much history involved in this "syaali," Mahzala And THAT is a long story! Sometimes, those of us who know the history behind a certain poem and know the poet well and all, know more than what those who have no connection with the poet, so we can say more about the poem and sometimes even its purpose and aim.

Again, yeah, of course it's always a happy moment for me when anything I do or say serves as a source of inspiration for someone else.

But, like I said before, there's much history involved in this, and so for me to explain why this is annoying, I'd have to narrate a long, boring, and unworthy story.
