In this day and age, I would say so. Society isn't the way it used to be anymore. Everything is fast-paced and people rarely make time for one another. Thus, many turn to asking for a consensus on the internet. I think that in some ways it may be better because it allows one to get a much broader range of advice from different people who have gone through different experiences. There is no one more qualified to give advice than another person except when it comes to experience. Sometimes shrinks can give the worst advice because it's simply a job for them and also because they have monetary interests in prolonging a solution. And welcome to the 21st century, my friend.
