But for us its a male name Karen and the female version is Karine

The English Karen is something different, I dont think it has to do with the Karen/Karan that we use.
Ours comes defenitely from Karen Pahlav.
We use also another name Suren(from Suren Pahlav)
Mihran (from Mihran Pahlav)
And Aspahapet/Sparapet (From the Aspahapet Pahlav)
All these were branches of Parthians, but only from Karen I dont know the meaning
