I think he is exaggerating a bit. Being in Canada also, I can tell you the the snow doesn't come as late as mid December. This year we has a snowless Christmas lol. Do it's more like 3-4 months of winter to be exact. I also don't like the cold much, I'm more of a Summer guy.Originally posted by Manzareh View Post5-6 months of winter?! wow I thought London was bad, I can never get used to the cold, guess i'm built for mediterranean weather"Revenge is a dish best served cold".

all great and true points however....Originally posted by Admin Khan View PostNYC, and here is why:
Islam - Far more Muslims than LA, far more Pakistanis than LA, far more Afghans than LA, far more Mosques than LA, in short, NYC has a dynamic, diverse, and thriving Muslim community, which is slowly starting to become very well educated.
Fashion -
NYC is the fashion capital of the world, so if you Karachi, are into fashion and glossy stores, NYC is your best bet.
Finance -
NYC is also the financial capital of the world, with Manhattan controlling 40% of the world's revenue, LA is peanuts.
Diversity -
NYC is home to over 200 languages, and 800 different dialects, the only competitor NYC has in this regard is London, LA is miles away.
Education-
NY is home to several Ivy-leagues, and some of the best educational institutions on planet earth. From top notch Engineering schools like Cooper Union(which don't charge a dime, and are free to attend by merit) to Cornell Tech, Cornell University, Columbia, and the gigantic CUNY and SUNY system, simply no comparison here. Let's not get started on companies that are present in NY, we might embarrass LA.
Food-
Great food Karachi bhai. I don't think this needs an elaboration.
Employment opportunities-
What NYC offers you in terms of job placement is simply unparalleled, along with a great wage. If you are educated, you can easily rake in 6 figures and live a lavish, healthy life in NYC.
Health-
Great hospitals, and institutions. For example, the world's best cancer hospital, that has leading global surgeons, MSKC, is located in NYC, along with other great hospitals.
California is suffering right now due to it's stagnant economy, rising unemployment, I believe it has a ~10 percent unemployment, which is the 2nd worst in the USA, last being Rhode Island.
cali has 3 advantages
women
weather
weed

the choice really comes down to this:
do you want to live among a bunch of big nosed persians(la) or a bunch of big nosed jews(nyc)? There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I tried keeping it as factual as possible, thank you.Originally posted by al-arabExcellent post. As a non-American that is yet to visit the country and with basically no ties to America I can't say whether or not you are biased due to your location (NYC) but your reasoning seems sound. I guess you need to experience both from close-hand to finally determine which city is more favorable for you.
I, myself am an Engineer, and I can tell you that your employability here will be unparalleled, and you will be treated better than any nation on earth. From Islam, to your Arab culture, to everything. You don't want to be far from your Arabs in Steinway, Queens, and you want to be close to Masjids, or else you will lose your Deen/Culture. Afghans have built 5 Masjids in Flushing alone and like I said, our education along with all the other subsets that I mentioned make NYC the best city on earth. Everything you want, we have it.Let me ask a question. Let us presume that I graduate with Master's degree in chemical engineering (my current study) in the US. Where would my best chances of employment be? I think I recall that you were a engineer brother Admin-Khan?
Currently I would like to enjoy/get valuable working experience in the West before returning to KSA and contributing/adjusting some of the mess.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Anywhere in America is a far better place to live than where you are currently living Karachi. I would perfer to settle somewhere in the east coast of the usa if I were you.
