  • NYC vs LA

which city out of these two is better to visit and live?

I have visited NYC and found it pretty similar to Toronto to be honest, just more crowded with more things to do.

As for LA, never been there. In pictures it looks beautiful, sunny and warm, especially the suburbs of LA like Hollywood, Santa Monica, Anaheim, Beverly Hills etc...

who has been to both of these cities, and which one do you prefer to visit and live in?

NYC all the way. I may be biased here since I visit New York every year, but there is just so much to do compared to la. The taxes in California are too high and is too crowded because of the population. Anyways to but it short, NYC is more for buissnes while LA is if you want to live that famous glamorous life style.

      NYC, and here is why:

Islam - Far more Muslims than LA, far more Pakistanis than LA, far more Afghans than LA, far more Mosques than LA, in short, NYC has a dynamic, diverse, and thriving Muslim community, which is slowly starting to become very well educated.

      Fashion -
NYC is the fashion capital of the world, so if you Karachi, are into fashion and glossy stores, NYC is your best bet.

      Finance -
NYC is also the financial capital of the world, with Manhattan controlling 40% of the world's revenue, LA is peanuts.

      Diversity -
NYC is home to over 200 languages, and 800 different dialects, the only competitor NYC has in this regard is London, LA is miles away.

      Education-
NY is home to several Ivy-leagues, and some of the best educational institutions on planet earth. From top notch Engineering schools like Cooper Union(which don't charge a dime, and are free to attend by merit) to Cornell Tech, Cornell University, Columbia, and the gigantic CUNY and SUNY system, simply no comparison here. Let's not get started on companies that are present in NY, we might embarrass LA.

      Food-
Great food Karachi bhai. I don't think this needs an elaboration.

      Employment opportunities-
What NYC offers you in terms of job placement is simply unparalleled, along with a great wage. If you are educated, you can easily rake in 6 figures and live a lavish, healthy life in NYC.

      Health-
Great hospitals, and institutions. For example, the world's best cancer hospital, that has leading global surgeons, MSKC, is located in NYC, along with other great hospitals.

California is suffering right now due to it's stagnant economy, rising unemployment, I believe it has a ~10 percent unemployment, which is the 2nd worst in the USA, last being Rhode Island.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

I've spent a day in both, would choose NYC. The city is on the level of Paris, London, Hong Kong and Singapore.

If you live in LA, owning a car, all of the related expenses and being stuck in traffic and smog is a requirement. In my experience, a well developed mass transit system such as NYCs will increase the quality of your life and frees up more time in your day.

Anyways to but it short, NYC is more for buissnes while LA is if you want to live that famous glamorous life style.

I would stay in Toronto. For some reason, the majority of the females are highly attractive in that city compared to NYC and LA.

lol, Canadians tend to be more fit compared to Americans, maybe that is the reason, though when I went NYC I saw many beauties there too

Yeah weather plays a major role too, here in Toronto 5-6 months of winter is too long, everyone gets depressed. I do like snow, but I hate the cold

I agree to an extent but I still think girls from LA look a tad bit better, but that's maybe because of the Botox and amount of plastic surgery.

NYC and LA are completely different and offer their own experiences.

As far as it goes to visiting, I would say it all depends on the type of person you are. If you enjoy the big city life, lots of lights, art galleries, shows like Broadway, and public transit, then NYC is your place. However, if you like amusements parks, hiking, beaches, outdoor shopping, then LA is your place. It all depends on you Personally i would say visit both if you can. It's all about having experiences, and you really do not know what something is like until you see it for yourself. As far as living goes, i cannot say if NYC is a decent place to live, but i wouldn't recommend LA either. It is crowded, expensive, constant traffic (although the freeways are big), and polluted (in case if you have asthma).
