sounds Arabian. In other words, sounds really good.

It is. It's an Arabic word, though if differently pronounced, it changes the meaning (based on the Arabic dialect too). Its in the Quran, Surah Nur, Ayah 35.

I had Arab friends (more like envious girls who didnt get enough of staring and gossiping, dont ask why) who always seemed to have this word in their convos when I used to walk past. It annoyed me at times, and so once I confronted them and asked why I always hear my name when I'm around them, while they chatter away in Arabic. A very close friend of mine, who was standing with me said" 'Oh no, theyre saying Masba which means swimming pool'. I couldnt help but laugh, but still, everytime I was around they were talking of swimming pools?

And MFD, thank you, youre very sweet.

It is unique in the sense that it is used by both males and females. One of my best friend name is mesbah, a guy belonging to bannu.
