its kind of difficult to push pashto on a population when even most native pashto speakers are illiterate and in terms of literature there is next to nothing. its even harder when the language you are trying to replace has a rich history and was even the first language of the modern afghan kings.
French was the language of the courts, the noble people and schools all over modern day Europe.
Prussias Kings spoke in French with their members of cabinet.

The fact remains that Farsi is like Arabic and importet language and replaced native languages like Khwarezmi, Soghdian etc.

Afghanistan´s lingual non-existent mono-identity is the problem and it has nothing to do with languages being rich or poor.

German was a poor language untill two centuries ago.
    What is now?

People have to start one day and move on......
    The only constant is change.

German was a poor language? Since when? I believe you're wrong, Latin was used in Most European Courts, unless you have a reference indicating otherwise.

Pashtun mindset is way too liberal towards others.
The "they" Im referring to, is the same "they" you are referring to:

any Afghan leader of the last 200 yrs

They would have been better served to try to implement it amongst Pashtuns only.

Pashto should be implemented today in Kabul only. In Non Pashtun areas like Herat or Mazar it should simply be a class. Bilingualism for all citizens isnt feasible

de translation para dero farsiwano zda kera de.

The problem is that pashto lacks literature. Farsi, english, arabic are advanced because there is too much literature in each one with english surpassing every other language on earth. One of the reasons that pashtuns learn another language is because they lack the infrastructure to educate themselves with pashto. PAshtuns learn farsi, urdu and english because they need it for engineering, medical, and other studies, they cant study engineering, medicine and other professions in pashto.
The pashtun educated diaspora has failed pashto and pashtuns by not providing translated scholarly works but at the same time pashtuns have been a victim of circumstances of which they had no control of.

German was poor regarding written literatur.
After the so-called "Deutsche Romantik" German literature produced something of value if we neglect German peotry of the middle ages by Novalis.

Latin wasn´t spoken in courts in Europe, only in Vatikan City.
