  • The Pashtun are the only ethnic Afghans

The rest of the people residing in Afghanistan are Afghan by nationality only, not by ethnicity (e.g. Tajik, Uzbek, Turkmen, Hazara).

Swatians are as Afghan as anyone else, too.

But this whole discussion is obsolete because it´s common knowledge that Afghan and Pashtun are synonyms and Afghans/Pashtuns are the people who founded Afghanistan and gave it it´s cultural, historical and institutional identity.

Unfortunatly bilingualism was favoured and Pashto as a linguistic identity wasn´t implemented to form a monolingual sociaty.

I think Afghan identity should be inclusive not exclusive. Extend it to every body in Afg.

                Afghan identity is inclusive.
That´s why all other ethnicities in Afghanistan have adapted to the Pashtun way of life and call it "Afghanyat".

                  Who´s "they"?

And by forcing Pashto as the single official language 100 years ago they could have but they didn´t.

Pashtun mindset is way too liberal towards others.

The arabs did it in Iran and the ruskies did it in central asia. Farsi is not even your indegenous language, you are persianized turks, and your bros to the north are now russianized turks.

you should spend your energy to control the hate filled and facist tajiks, a pashtun reaction of the same kind wont be pretty for anybody.

That took quite a while to do it, The Ruskies were much more militant amd aggressive. Pashtuns just like to prance around in rifles, they can't run a society.

The Taliban did it from 95-01, and several other regimes did it as well. It's useless to get into the details since it's futile to say the least.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

the nations pushing their language on others can do so because the culture of their language is developed. arabic was the language of the quran so its not hard to imagine why other groups adopted arabic, russia was the language of power and education in central asia, same with english in india.

its kind of difficult to push pashto on a population when even most native pashto speakers are illiterate and in terms of literature there is next to nothing. its even harder when the language you are trying to replace has a rich history and was even the first language of the modern afghan kings.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
