    http://stores.ebay.ca/buy-raagini/Bu...sub=1667726013

i have found some on ebay, i dont they are quality ones the prices are funny as well, very poorly indian made.

how much is a rabab worth anyway, a good quality one made in afghanistan or pashtunkhwah?

i might be able to import few into north america.

It does depend on if you want decorated ones or not. Simple ones are cheaper.
Also the size and number of strings plays a role.

Rubab has generally 3 main strings, but you can have a rubab with up to 6 main strings.
Also the number of sympathetic (side strings) vary (mostly from 12 to 15, but there are rubabs with 9 or 16-17 sympathetic strings too).
The size plays an important role, smaller or medium rubabs are used more for folk , bigger more for classical compositions.

The indian made ones are mostly frettless and different than the ones You may seek.

A quiet good but simple (without motherpearl) rubab You should be able to get with around 200-400 $ as I know.
I know a good seller from Peshawar, he sells also from internet, so if you need any contact, i can give it.

The teachers in europe on the other side do not really seem to teach well. I know also one person from Peshawar who designs and plays rubab and is quiet kind, perhaps can give video lessons. If you want I give You his mail.

He's my favorite rubab player ...and he learned from his father Ghulam Sakhi, who ws also a legend, but HIS father's teacher is Ustad Muhammad Omar, who is an Afghan legend

Why do You say " was", isn't his father still alive?
I never heared however recordings from Ghulam Sakhi, but I love those great older masters like Ustad Muhammad Omar and Ustad Rahim Khushnawaz.
On the other hand Homayoun Sakhi is so great for his innovations. I admired him so much from the times I learned about him, and it was him who mAde me love rubab music.

Look here at the interview of Ghulam Sakhi:

Well I meant was because he's not as much in the spotlight now a days. I have a CD of Ustad Mohammad Omar, brilliant.
