    Salaam,

I see...So basic programming skills would mean I would need knowledge of GIS? I have studied both of the topics you mention (fluvial deformation and soil erosion) but I am assuming you mean I need modeling for these as well? Thanks a lot

I am not there at the...moment.

        Kabul alone has...many firms.

        Are you from...Kabul?

No; you don't need it, but it gives you a edge. There is no need, your skillset is so broad; I am just saying those are some high in demand tasks for people with an environmental science/geology background.

I totally agree with RTR about the universl demand of C++ and need for programming skills, and also agree with the CSE course, however this kinda skill set is excellent for western organisations, but whatvWawrina said is without doubt the case in Afghanistan; you need connections, and almost every decent job has a price that has to be paid. Believe me you can get a junior ministerial position for the right price with your environments. Science degree. It is a sad state of affairs but that is a local reality.

I would recommend you net work with afghans who are working in afghanistan. and develop connections, you may be lucky and be recommended for a post. Alternative I to meet someone in th consulate and develop network from there.

If you get stuck, send me a message and I will give you email of an afghan who left Canada and started working in Kabul. He will e able to give ideas. Good luck, complete your course, obtain skills, and network.

I think there is much scope in Afghanistan of a good long-term career now that the state's infrastructure is expanding. I think immediately and speaking as an outsider there should be much scope in education, IT, finance sector (banking etc), roads and transportation, construction, health, etc. (e.g. civil engineer may have much chance).

With stability retained all this would expand to rural areas esp to the south and east.

In my opinion, there may be scope for you in mining ministry. So you should consult it. Furthermore, foreign firms investing in mining, oil & gas development, minerals, etc. may also be recruiting.

Afghanistan I think in some point in future will start building water reservoirs, irrigation canals, etc. where there can be an opportunity.

Last, what about city and urban planning ? Is environmental policy in some way related to that?

Thank you so much for this great advice. I hope I can find something that I like. I am not overly converned with my salary, as long as it's something relatively decent lol and I can maintain a normal life. I don't want to have a very hectic schedule.

I wasn't even thinking about that, that would be good too.
