What parameter is used to identify Nuristanis as European?

Nuristanis look as european as some pashtun, or the palestinian or people of the balkans and caucases. yes there are blue/green eyed nuristanis, but there are more brown and hazel eyed ones in a ratio that is not remarkable compared to other Afghans.
I have not come across numbers of the population that are green eyed, blue eyed etc. so this discussion lacks qualitative raw data to be scientific.


I read and heard plenty Alexander the Great stories (Padshah Sikandar Makdoumi), and the Greek connection - the soldiers who remained in the isolated valleys of Nuristan (and in Pakistani Kafiristan) and hence sired the 'European looking Nuristani'. I am of the opinion the light coloured eyes amongst populations is due to multiple reasons; first due to inherent variety in human features, secondly environmental and geographical factors and thirdly due to ancient migration of humans. starting with the axiom that there is indeed variety in the human features, and there have been migrations, it leads to possible conclusions that MANY DIFFERENT people has moved and integrated long ago to leave the pheno's we see now in the proportions they manifest. These features appear less frequently in the periphery of Europe and Central Asia (moving from Norway/Finland to roughly Northern India).

Kalash and Nuristanis have more european features probably because of climate,geography (mountains) and probably because of ancient linkages to west eurasian populations . The latest genetic results done on Kalash show that they are actually very similar genetically to pashtuns, roughly being around 80% west asian/west eurasian and 20% south asian.
