    Yeah. It's like, why did Amir Khan take SO long to get into movie production/direction? I've heard some excellent reviews about "Three Idiots," as it, too, seems to touch on the issue of parents' putting too pressure on children, mostly to become doctors. I look forward to watching it then.

              Actually Those army movies are made for poor masses therefore they put stupid action scene and spicy dialogues in them. So better don't watch Indian army movies. There are many good movies which you people can watch.

                  I haven't watched a bolly movie for a coupla years, not that into them either. The old ones were definitely much better, just like you summarised Que. Like ''Taal'', ''Devdas'', and even ''Mughle Azam'' - where both the main characters are Pashtun.
                  really?

                    Most of the Hindi movies are crap.

                    Having said that, you will often find good and meaning ful movies. Some of the recent movies that I liked are:
                    Ishqiya (2010) - Romance
                    Udaan (2010) - Drama: About a teenage boy growing up.
                    Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010) - Thriller: Mumbai gang scene during 70s.
                    Peepli Live (2010) - Produced by Amir Khan and this year's entry to Academy Awards from India.
                    The Japanese Wife (2010) - sensitively portrayed bengali drama.

                    @pukhtana
                    Some romantic movies that you might like are Ishqiya (2010) , Dor (2006), Tere Naam (2003) , Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) , Lamhe (1991) , Woh Lamhe, Gangster. I don't like some of these movies. But most girls seem to love them.

                    @eyeliner
                    Mughl-e-Azam starred Dileep Kumar( Yusuf Khan) and Prithvi Raj Kapoor (great grandfather of Kareena/Karishma Kapoor). Both of them claim to be descendents of Pashtuns.

                    Has anybody seen Kabuliwala (1961) or Khuda Gawah (1992) ?

                    Regards,

                        Drona,
                        Any movies you recommend that are similar to 3idiots?

                        I hardly watch any movies. I probably watched less than 10 movies[including Snow White and its type] In my whole life but that 3 idiots movie was really nice. It taught me valuable lessons.
                        Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

                        A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

                        For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

                        The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

                          Admin sahab,

                          I can't really think of any Indian movie, that is really like 3 idiots. But I think you will like Swades (2004) . It is about a guy who returns from West to teach poor people in his village.

                          Another movie that you might like is Dead Poets' Society . Like 3 idiots it is about a group of rebellious friends in an Ivy League college.

                          Regards,

It is directed by Amir Khan, who I believe is not only one of the best actors of India but clearly a humanitarian as well! I've so much respect for him now after having watched that film.

                                It was about how much pressure parents put on their children, often without realizing that all children are not the same and need help. The story starred a young dyslexic kid whose school principle didn't know what was "wrong" with him and whose parents thought he was just dumb and stupid for reading stuff incorrectly. For instance, a "d" would appear to him like a "b" or a "p" like a "q."

                                It was SO touching as well. I'm gonna treasure it all my life.

                                I also liked "Aaja Nachle." Of course, I think that Madhuri the Beauty Queen just makes the whole screen extra appealing with her feminine moves and superb acting skills, but that's not the only reason I loved it: This movie was sort of about how we LOVE to watch dances but HATE the dancers themselves, or don't want our own folks to go into dancing. I enjoyed it quite thoroughly.

                                Other than that, I'm not into Indian films. Their songs are, I must admit, beyond beautiful, though. But not the music videos, acting, or story-lines.

                                Oh, and the new actors and actresses lack good acting skills -- rather, JUST acting skills. Period. I heard Amisha Patel (from "Kaho Na Pyar Hai") was recruited into the movies by a movie director who saw her at a party and told her she was stunning and that he'd love to have her act in his films. Katrina Kaif, I believe now Salman Khan's ex-GF, was recruited by Salman. There's also an Aishwarya Rai look-alike, some girl named Seethi? Not sure. She's in the film "Lucky: No Time for Love" and the songs I've seen with her in them are HORRIBLE!

                                So, yeah, Bollywood doesn't have many good actors or actresses, mostly because they get them to be in the movies for the wrong reasons. The older ones with a lot of acting experience (like Madhuri, Shahrukh, Ajay, Kajol, Karishma) are not active in the film industry, and the new ones lack EVERYTHING -- from culture to attitude to personality to skill.

                                Qrratugai-

                                Merci, shukria, shukran, dera manana, gracias, grazi, mhhrubanee, danke, tesekkur ederim, dhanyavad and thank you for suggesting "Like Stars on Earth:, I rented it this afternoon, and just finished watching it, among tears.

                                It was worth it!
