Do any of you have identity crisis?

I think I do have identity crisis, and I dont know who I really am and where do I belong

For example culturally I am pakistani, but I never lived there ( only visited it every year), I was born in saudi arabia and lived there till I was 15 and then I moved to Canada and I am here since.

So really who am I? a pakistani, a saudi or a Canadian? or every thing?

Which nations nationality do you possess?
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

        don't complicate things.

you are an ethnic afghan but most importantly you are a muslim.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

All these labels mean nothing in the end. Be wharever you feel the closest to.

All that matters is to be good person and live a fullfilling life.

For me You are an american of pakistani origin. Frankely speaking the non-pashtun pakistanis are worst in maintaing their langauge (urdu, punjabi) , culture and identity in the west. In such case Pashtuns and afghans are comparitively better than them.
The members here who were grown up in afghanistan or pakhtunkhwa and then went to west , are not suffering from identity crisis but their children would definately suffer from it.

karachi, you seem like a very good person with fairly balanced attitudes towards others. can you not just be a muslim citizen of the world?
we are all just visitors to earth, we stay for some years then leave.
no need to attach to a particular land or label. they are incumberences that one eventually has to discard, anyway.

Dear Karachi, My living situation has often been similar to Yours, however try to not think to much about lbls and categories.
First of all be a man, follow Your principles and do not make You judge from others or influence by labls.
You will have an origin right? Your parents... lineage...
Remember it, so You will know which ethnicity You belong to, these are your relatives that gave you your life.
For the rest, your deeds, thoughts and words will speak for You...

                Ես ծովակ եմ առանց կարապ,
                Իմ էություն, ե՛տ արի, ե՛տ:

                Ես անտառ եմ առանց եղնիկ
                Իմ վեհություն, ե՛տ արի, ե՛տ:

I have noticed that Afghans in foriegn countries are those who were of very good family background and status back home but had to fled because of regime change.
Pakistanis in foriegn countries are mainly those who were zero in pakistan , they were "khwar khalak" and tried their luck in westren countries.
Even those pakistani students who go to westren countries e. U.K for study are those with very low merits in pakistan. They are unable to get admission in good institutions of pakistan so they go to foriegn countries and waste lot of their family's money.
Karachi your family was in saudi whichs means your father had good qualification and job, what made you people decide to go to canada?
My father was transferred to london , which is considered as "award" in foriegn office. But he rejects it and chose qatar, an islamic country, with pakistani population, pakistani schools and close to pakistan. He did this for family. Previous to that he was tranferred to belgium, he rejected it and chose libiya. In foriegn office hostels i used to observe that i was the only boy who was wearing shalwar kameez and could'nt speak a sentence of english. Rest of the childrens there were speaking english as mother tongue whether they were punjabis, pashtuns or urduspeakers...

I belong to the universe, and that's all I need; all this stuff like "Muslim" ..."Pashtun" ...."Afghan" are transient concepts.
