See what Pakistani retired General Aslam Beg says:

He says: The 1965 and 1971 wars were defeats for Pakistan. Jihad is ordained and has bestowed dividends in Afghanistan and Kashmir because of Divine Will behind Jihad. “In Pakistan, Pakhtun power has emerged as a reality. There are over three million Pakhtuns in Karachi; their power extends to Balochistan, NWFP and to the Hindukush mountains. Their fight for freedom, since 1980, has galvanised them into a formidable force, combining the forces of Pakhtun nationalism, Islamic idealism (jihad) and the universalism of the Islamic resistance against oppression, with its hard core resting along the Durand Line.”

The question is, when will Pashtuns stop aiming their guns at each other and rightfully point them towards their enemies? When will Pashtuns wake up and recognize their friends from their foes?

Raw numbers don't matter. In Afghanistan, Pashtuns represent over 60% of the total population whereas the second largest ethnic group comprises barely 20% of the population. In Pakistan, Pashtuns are, at most, 15% of a population of 180 million. That puts them at a great disadvantage because Pakistan is a unitary state and not a federation.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

This Indian Mahajar general one of the founders of the strategic depth policy of Pakistani Punjabi military establishment along with other terrorist generals like General Hamid Gul, General Ziaul Haq, etc. is very cunningly couching Pakistan's proxy war and ambitions of imperial expansion through Islamist Jehad in the statement about Pukhtuns.

The Islamist ideologue is currently undergoing court case for corruption and conspiracy against political government.

The Pashtun populations growth rate in both Pakistan and Afghanistan is starkly similar and when Pakistan's population is 30 Million and Afghanistan's about 22 Million at most it is unlikely that Afghanistan's population of Pashtuns will surpass that of Pakistani pashtuns ever.

As far as the debate about Afghanistan and Pakistan merging into one entity I understand the logic behind it. All the two countries do is blame each other. Separation has caused two (Pashtuns) brothers to be divided.

Furthermore a merger could benefit both Pakistan and Afghanistan. In Pakistan the dominance of the Punjabis will end as they will no more make about 50% of the population. Pashtuns will have more power as they will have a larger population and more power. Pakistani business sector (which is somewhat stronger) can invest in Afghanistan fuelling economic growth, the problem of how to hunt terrorists hiding between the countries borders will end. Lots of logic.

Only thing is it will never happen.

Ya, it seems pop of KP would become stable at some point whereas that of Pashtuns of Afg would rise rapidly.

Apart from that, you are right that Durand Line has diverted Pashtun demographic expansion and migration eastward and relative fertility of KP has hastened population growth. Wars and terrorism causing disruption of economy in Pashtun areas has caused dislocation of large number of Pashtuns. The new trend is migration to Pindi, Islamabad, etc. and acquisition of land in Attok, Gondal, etc. It seems Islamabad and Pindi would be future Karachi (with both Pashtuns from Pakistan and Afg).

                  Pashtuns in Pakistan are PAKIZ.
they are no Good PAKIZ, who Support their PAKI Brothers and fight for their PAKI Nation.
THey love their PAKI culture and love listening to PAKI Urdu song like Atif Aslaam, Ali Zafar etc.
They don't care about Pashto Culture, history or even Pashto Language.
for them Urdu and PAKI Culture is the way forward in life. they support PAKI Army aswell.
Pashtun in Pakistan are not really Pashtuns..they are PAKIZ.
I don't see them wanting to united with their pashtun brothers on the other side of the border.
they rather stay as a PAKI and give their Sisters, daughters to PAKIZ in PUNJAB and be a proud MUSLIM PAKI.

                  the End
