There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Anyone know any good films to watch in the cinema? I want to take my brother before Ramadan starts.
Monsters University. I'm going to be watching that with my siblings.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

                  • Spent the whole day in London (central London....the London that all you foreigners are accustomed with).
Saw literally all the famous landmarks & attractions (Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, London Eye, Tower Bridge, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Marble Arch, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, the Shard, Canary Wharf, the Royal Observatory, Hyde Park etc).
Hadn't seen most of them since I was a little kid.

Felt like a tourist in my own city.
Also went to the planetarium for the first time. It was good.

                    • Kicked off Ramadan 2013 by setting off the smoke alarm at 2:30 in the morning pissing everyone off.

On the bright side, everyone in the neighbourhood should be wide awake for Sehri.

(just to note, I didn't actually burn any food, some cheese from the cheese-on-toast that I was grilling had slipped off. Even though I removed the fallen cheese & turned off the cooker, the very small residue continued to cook & burn. The over-sensitive smoke alarms woke everyone up)
