Ignorant westerners calling afghans south asians?

South Asia is a geographical subregion and Afghanistan is in South Asia. However Pashtuns for the most part have Central and Western Asian origins.

am i the only one who has experienced this???? when some ignorant western dude calls afghans as south asian or even indians??? seriously it really annoys me. i dont have anything against indians, but they are different from us in everyway, especially when you consider most indian culture is hindu based, while afghanistan has nothing to do with hinduism. I am often surprised at how ignorant some westerners can be, most people here think that afghans look exactly same as indians, i dont know if they are blind or something. afghans to me look much more middle eastern then indian or even paki. Afghan cultue is much more middle eastern then indian. I think afghanistan should be considered part of middle east rather then south asia or even central asia which is much more mongol/turkic now.

just tell them you are a freaking Taliban and they will understand.
