LOL, I have got so many, yo! But one I will always remember is of few years back when I was working in a fast-food restaurant:
This Afghan (I think Kandaharis because some of them had Kandahari dialect) family came in-store and one of them straight-away looked at me and my name-batch, and guessed I am a Pukhtana. They were just bound to keep in the cue I was serving, even though I had the most busy cue. So after they bought food I started to pack for them and one of them said in Pukhto, 'Na na, packing mekawa! Hamdagha sahi dai.' They were actually first Afghan family I met there and because my Mazari friend told me Afghans are really weird here and I should avoid talking to them, I acted as if I didn't understand them:
Me: 'Sorry, what are you trying to say sir?'
He: 'Ma wayel che packing ta ajat neshta, pregda.'
Me: *Gave the most confusing look I could possibly give to make them stop*
He: 'Oh, taso pe Pukhto ne poyege?'
Me: *Nearly nodded no, but stopped shaking my head quickly enough*
He: 'Oh I am sorry, I thought you were an Afghan. Sorry.'
Me: 'It's okay sir.'
My Brother: 'Shayesta, ze zema koor ta, te bia khpela rasha, kha'?
He: 'Gora, ma wowail kana che da Pukhtana da!'
Me: *Slapped my forehead*
I had never been this embarrassed before and what pissed me off was that me and my brother ALWAYS used to speak Dutch at work but for first time ever he started to talk in Pukhto and that also on a VERY bad timing!
