Kesh,

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
-Ferishta, 1560–1620

I am in Copenhagen right now for a short visit and soon, Insha'Allah I will be in Paris and Barcelona to visit some distant family.Originally posted by Yasmeenaah View Post@al arab - you simply exaggerate
I don't know where exactly you are, but trust me, it could be worse. Usually in Poland winter is stronger, like minus 10 or so, and now... no snow and plus 3
Here in Copenhagen it was already dark at 16.00 o'clock and the temperature is 2 degrees of celcius. This morning when I woke up for prayer, it was dark as well and still is.
For me this is very, very cold. In fact I have never witnessed such a cold temperature (when I have been in Europe it is in Summer). I have lived in Iraq, Jordan, UAE and Jeddah all my life, so I am only used to very varm climate. For example in Baghdad, half ot the year the temperature during the day never goes below 35 degrees of celcius and it is often (every two days or so) between 40-48 degrees (sometimes even 52 degrees of celcius) because of the Shamal wind.
In Jeddah, where I live now, the average temperature every single day of the year is 33 degrees of celcius, just like in Baghdad.
The coldest temperature ever recorded in Jeddah was 9 degrees of Celcius!
So for me this is very, very cold and I would struggle to survive in this climate/darkness.

@al-arab - so it's new experience for you. Cold and dark experience
My sister lives in North Norway and she moans all the time. Lack of sun, short days and tons of snow in the winter are what bother her the most.
Bagdad (and Iraq) - my husband, as a teenager, spent there some time and I can't remember him saying that it was too hot there. I prefere colder a bit colder climate.
Try to enjoy your stay in Europe
