What real life of Afghans? Your idea of a decent lifestyle is opposite of ours. Freedom to be godless and promiscuous with no familial values, morals or religion is contrary to our idea of what is good and right. Why are you godless Westerners so hell-bent on taking the rest of us to hell along with you? Why don't we order you around on how to live your life? Mind your own freaking business.

Women and children in sub-Saharan Africa undergo conditions a couple hundred thousand times worse than that in Afghanistan. Take my native Congo as an example where faye so kindly tried rubbing in my face the fact that rape is used as a weapon of war and a woman is raped every minute.Originally posted by Haris View PostYeah i'm not knocking her for that infact I encourage it:

It should make the kids more grateful for the opportunity that they are given and see what life is like for others etc
I'm just saying if you want to learn about Afghanistan in an hour there are better things you could be doing than watching this. I found her irritating and think that she made this documenary for her own benefit (probably doing some media course at college) rather than giving a good informative piece of journalism.
What did she even achieve in the end? "Oh i'm not going to be so spoilt anymore"....Good for her.
It may have shown people that Afghans aren't exactly living in the best conditions but you would have to be stupid to not have known that.
Perhaps this was aimed at a 'spoilt teen' audience who get given everything on a plate just like she did in which case, fine.
But for the purpose of learning about Afghanistan, it doesn't explain anything that anyone on these forums already doesn't know, which is why I branded it a waste of time.
Edit: Also when I was watching it I got the feeling that it was all constantly about her and her stupid emotions...."I am not Western but I am not Afghan and I look Asian, where the hell do i belong??!"...Silly girl. To me the whole thing just looked like more BBC propaganda for support for the war.
The question we should be asking is why no focus on us and instead on relative trivialities in Middle eastern nations. The answer is ulterior motives. The white man is eyeing your land and resources.

Well i cannot say what was the reason behind it, but for an hour time, it may teach some ignorant Afghan. It gives an insight from someone who may have a lot in common with the young Afghans living in the West. After all, the main audience is the young folks. Young folks have become so ignorant and ungrateful, that if something does not involve the media, they will not bother with it. However, if the audience was serving an older crowd, then yes, a waste of time.
Well like you said, it may make her appreciate things that she has. If it changes her 'attitude' then so be it.Originally posted by Haris View PostWhat did she even achieve in the end? "Oh i'm not going to be so spoilt anymore"....Good for her.

Originally posted by faye View Postcalling everything about taliban and afghanistan propaganda, unless it is the bad things that the westerners do, is very common on here, haris. the girl is an afghan, she returned to her country of origin and showed us a view that she and others have experienced there. whether you like her or not, it was very informative. why do afghan people not want the truth to be told about the real life of afghans?
Perhaps it was informative for you and other non-Afghans or young-spoilt-Western-Afghans but most people here already know the situation in Afghanistan. We do not need some condascending young naive kid to tell us that the Taliban wouldn't let girls go to school or whatever. Most of us have families there and some of us have lived through the situation ourselves. That is why I said it was a waste of time for the users on here to watch it. Because it wasn't aimed at the PF audience, it was most probably aimed at a young/spoilt/western audience.---

Are they disputing the claim that the Taliban did not let girls go to schools or are they disputing the reasons for this happening?---

The hypocricy of the US government/media's agenda is there for all to see.
One example is in the Phillipinnes. Torture, kidnapping, murdering of journalists, extra-judicial killings, corruption by the police/security forces as bad as that of the Paki police/security forces, rapes, exploitation of workers, persecution of the political opposition and many many more human rights abuses ranked amongst the worst in the world for all of these categories.
So where is the US condemmnig this? Where is Obama's speech talking about supporting human rights in South East Asia?
Oh I forgot! The US has military bases there! The US corporations have sweatshops there! They signed a 'Mutual Defence Treaty'! Politically, Militarily & Economically the Fillipino government is the slave of the US! Did I mention that the US actually annexed The Phillipines at one point?
This is just one example. There are many others.---
